  1. Ok. Ordered Celebrate vitamins, calcium, and Syntax nectar variety pack and Jay Robb shakes. Stocked up on bone broth, vitamin water zero, Premier Protein ready-made shakes. Bought new house shoes..... AND my 3 daughters decided to show their support by doing the liquid diet with me in 16 days.. They probably have 20, 30, and 50 pounds to lose. This should be interesting!
  2. I would not initially mention it. Turn out the lights, light a candle and enjoy. You have had children - most women have droopy bits just because of that. I am sure he even has some droopy bits at his age. You can bring it up later when the relationship progresses.

    Losing weight AFTER insurance approval

Once you are approved, you are approved. I have never heard of anyone getting rejected once insurance gave the okay to schedule surgery.

    Difficulty eating.

I can only offer anecdotal advice but you are not eating enough protein or taking in enough fluids. Try sugar free popsicles, some greek yogurt, hot tea, bone broth in between meals. You must eat and drink even though you don't feel like it. Add a protein shake/liquid even if you can't eat something. Have you brought this up with your surgical team?

    Ugh

I had a nuclear stress test a year and a half ago - I actually had the injection then ran the treadmill.... it turned out fine. I did go to the gym though first and warmed up on the treadmill, then stretched - I have an artificial knee and my hips sometimes need to loosen up. And next time ask what the heck technical term 'iffy' is....that says nothing - is it an st elevation -or r wave or what exactly.

    Second month after having problems

Berry78 is on the right track with advice. Our long held body image beliefs and head games with ourselves can get in the way of what you really want. Maybe the attention itself is the issue, we have tended to use fat bodies to insulate us from attention and being hurt, being seen. We can rationalize so many untruths that we start believing them to be true. Like what if - I lose all this weight and I still don't love myself, or if I lose this weight I can't blame the weight for other issues I haven't addressed, if I lose all this weight will people expect more from me, will people still reject me, will family be jealous, etc etc. Losing weight will solve health issues and make us feel and look better but won't fix the other issues. Does your work have a wellness program, or maybe the hospital has a support group, or maybe even OA. I journal and read books and forums. Geneen Roth writes books on this subject and even has a workbook.
  7. @Natashca We can certainly be buddies. @GettinFit213 - MaryLou - my NUT had a list of acceptable shakes and vitamins, but I read on here the ones that kept coming up when posters asked about what tasted the least repulsive!!!! LOL They happened to be on the list. When I went to my first consultation I was given a 3-ring binder with all the explanations about the surgery, tests, requirements, procedures, nutrition, etc. My insurance requires 6 months supervised diet, but the surgeon would require it even if insurance did not. It gave me time to think about what food means and how emotionally attached I was to using it for anxiety and to research what experiences the veterans on this site have done to be successful. I minded at first, but it went quickly. I could have had surgery last month but preferred the date I picked because of some family/social obligations - a wedding and a regional square dance.
  8. Try Isopure premade in punch or blue raspberry - seems pricey but one 20oz bottle is 40 grams of protein and it is tart. Pour it over cracked ice. Also syntrax nectar ...
  9. I don't see me giving it up forever, but I am not much of a drinker overall. I intend to stick to no drinking for 6-9 months after surgery. It does use up calories ineffectively and alcohol is dehydrating and is likely a factor in the early stages when it is difficult to consume enough liquids as it is.
  10. Cool responses so far.....plastic surgery high on the list, a mink would be awesome, can't afford the Porsche, I can't ride rides due to eye issues, I have been to some islands, I really want to go to Ireland, I (again) want to hike up Multnomah Falls - 600 ft waterfall, have a closet full of fitted clothes.
  11. Not telling is not lying. There is such a thing as personal private business. I don't tell people a lot of things, still not lying. I know the current socially acceptable venues of putting marital fights, female medical issues, drinking binges, sexual exploits for all the world to see on FACEBOOK or to go on Jerry Springer seems like normal behavior to some. I dont share finances when someone asks how much money I have or how much my house is worth. I don't see why anyone's weight is anyones business either. This forum however is a refuge for those seeking information and support. Our opinions are just that - we can only give our own experiences as examples.
  12. Had bloodwork yesterday and pre-anesthesia consult. Have EDG tomorrow, last hurdle!!! Getting real. Pre-op liquid diet starts 16 days and surgery in 26. Get this - my 3 daughters in support of their mother are going to do a liquid diet with me! 💞 They have from 20-50 lbs to lose. LOL Should be interesting!

    Getting scared

Why did they make you stop taking bc pills? It seems controversial, I read other women did not go off the pill. Can you get the novo ring or depo shots?
  14. Maybe he is trying to prevent negative comments from derailing you or he is embarassed and can't say that because he doesn't want to hurt your feelings. I think keeping it private is fine, but the lie about power walking is not fine. Instead tell him to say you are working with a nutritionist in the hopes it helps your condition (fibro, obesity). That is actually true, not the whole story but still true. As far as your aunt and uncle - I would tell them, just not business people or general acquaintances. Hope this helps.
  15. Wishing you the best and praying. That doctor was a jerk, I have been subjected to a few of them - sometimes I think they pass out extra large egos in med school, and he was probably a jerk to begin with...
  16. First of all, you are beautiful. And you are loved. YOU ARE NOT YOUR WEIGHT. No matter what, you are not your weight. We allow our weight to make us feel unworthy, we are so much more than that. Write a letter to yourself as if it is coming from your best friend - dear lovepink21......you are kind and funny, and have kick-azz hair, and if I am ever in trouble I know you will be by my side through it all helping me smile.... (I am sure you can fill in the rest)...

    What do you do when...

Does your spouse love YOU or your fat? You are getting healthier and if you are not in a healthy weight range - it is because the person has never seen you at this weight. Friends are not reliable - they don't like change and don't have to live your life as an obese person..... Call bigger department stores and ask for their person that does alterations or go to resale shops and trade them in. Save for plastic surgery - use deficit in grocery money - get a part time job and save that money, use part of your 401k money. Think creatively. I hate it when people resort to calling 'us' selfish - it means they fell threatened by your new selfesteem from losing weight. Up your protein (100 gr) and fluid intake (100 oz)
  20. There is a prescription nsaid that has prostaglandans in it to protect the stomach mucosa called Diclofenac, ask about that. I have seen where some surgeons are ok with ocassional usage of nsaids.
  21. Wow...so sorry this happened to you. How are you now?
  22. Does the bariatric physician have a support group? Does college have counselors or can refer you to one? Even if it is to learn to deal with stress in ways other than food. You can't change yesterday, so guilt is the most useless emotion. I would go for hope, get excited about your new career, about a new life, anything with forward motion. Good luck.
