Oh wow I didn't know any of this except the body wash - guess I'll find out at my last appt on the 12th....

I was nervous - but the anesthetic they give you makes it a breeze. You might have a slight sore throat and be thirsty as heck afterwards... I had no erosion or inflammation - but the biopsy came back with the h.pylori bacteria in my gut. And that means 10 days of these 2 vile antibiotics. I hope you don't have that, but just know you are in good company if you do - lol. For the stress test - wear workout clothes, etc. Do not let them tell you that you have to run on that treadmill w/o your sports bra - that is just plain laziness on the technicians part. The very first time I did a stress test they did that - bunch of bs - I was soooo mortified doing that, and it was a young guy and he made me wear a gown on backwards and I was so close to tears. The second time I had one I found out that is pure bs. They can put the sensors on under your sports bra.

Food craving pre-op
Sosewsue61 replied to megamedic691's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Remember that it's temporary, you will eat food again. I am telling myself - hey, you have already experienced eating this food and you know what it tasted like, there is no shortage of food - it will be there later down the road if you want some. Then find a hobby - take a knitting or crocheting class, learn beading, join a book club and read - go to the library or somewhere not serving food, make holiday crafts, walk and walk some more, learn to play chess - not on the computer, anything not food related. I listen to books with an audible account while I walk - put my phone in a fanny pack, pop in my earbuds and walk.....other times I sew - can't have food around fabric. -
Ok. Guys don't lose hope!!! I met my wonderful husband at age 41 and have been married 20 years. It is a second marriage for both of us, and if someone with 4 teen kids can find a partner so can you!!!!! Wait until you have figured out how to live with the new lifestyle to venture out dating. Join some clubs - biking, hiking, volunteering at humane society, dance lessons, archery, political groups, VFW, golf, an investment group, conservation organization, take community college course, Renaissance fairs (who wouldn't have fun dressed like a wench!), other interests that have a mixed group of people. You just need to expand your circle more. And when you do - set standards for how you want to be treated. I made it clear when I met the hubs that I do not introduce men to my kids, so unless you are sticking around long term that won't happen. If you needed a job, you wouldn't give up applying, you would network, or advance your skills, widen the area of submitting resumes. You have to be your own head hunter these days.

Finished buying supplies - Vitamin Shoppe
Sosewsue61 posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Online ad at Vitamin Shoppe - ready made Isopure buy one case get one 50%. Case is 44.99 on sale. (12 in case) So it worked out to be $2.81/bottle - they are 20oz 40grams protein, zero carb clear protein. Also used AUTUMN17 code for 15% off $75, I bought some calcium citrate and a couple other things. (I went to the store, not an online purchase.) I like them because they are tart, not super sweet. -

Yay!!! Post your photos!!! -
My NUT says 64oz of fluid besides the protein drinks, but crystal light and any noncaloric noncaffeine drinks count.
-
Whew! So glad you had good care!!! Be careful and good luck.

Is that Marie Kondo? I didn't buy the book but read enough online. I did some of the things in it. I can't embrace it 100%, but I do ask if any new purchases 'spark joy' and do I have space for this purchase. There is no way I am purging all my books or my fabric!!!!

Husband eats constantly
Sosewsue61 replied to newlifebegins2017's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Spouses are weird sometimes, I swear as soon as you say diet they bring home the effing ice cream!!! They get nervous anxiety when things change. I doubt it's on purpose (unless they are truly azzhats) but we are hyper tuned into anyone eating in front of us especially now. Just leave the room, go for a walk - get an audible account and listen to books on your phone with your headphones on and your senses won't be focused on what he is doing. -
I know this is all guy stuff, but kudos to you all. About pants lengths - go to dry cleaners and ask about alterations or go to a major department store or stop at a place that sells sewing machines and ask if they know anyone to alter clothes. A free lance person doesn't charge that much to alter hems....I used to do that on the side. Try church thrift shops, garage sales.

Best Med to Break Obsession/Rumination post Sleeve
Sosewsue61 replied to Anna Nim's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I ditto wellbutrin. Might actually help libido and def helps rumination. Will have lucid lucid dreaming....also easy to wean from w/o much side effects. Also try full spectrum lights or early morning sun exposure on your bare arms for 15 minutes every day. -
No. And it all comes down to age, genetics, how long you have been overweight and how overweight you are....just part of the process. It will shrink some over a few years but will not go back to normal - like a deflated overfilled balloon in most cases.

Lol..seriously alcohol, that's funny. It might make tolerating it easier. BUT NO, no alcohol!!!!! And no alcohol for a long time.

Might need another surgery.
Sosewsue61 replied to dreamingsmall's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@dreamingsmall any answers yet? You might want to ask for an ombudsman or the head of nursing or ask for an infection control physician if you are not getting real answers. -

I have the flu and it's 19 days until surgery! Ugh!
Sosewsue61 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Aw dang it!! I am sick 19 days before surgery, I don't need this right now. I don't want to be more tired and run down right before I start the pre-op in 9 days. Yay me, not!!! We went to an indoor waterpark at the Dells on Sunday and 9 of the 13 came down with the flu....mine is morphing into a head cold as well. And I want to have my whole house in order beforehand but my energy is ZERO!!! I guess there are no questions just ranting and 'tea and sympathy'!!! -
Surgery Final Costs and Food
Sosewsue61 replied to dyensters22's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Anyone's out of pocket will depend on your plan coverage - your deductible and out of pocket and cost sharing. My plan is 80/20 with 4200 deductible but after 7100 out of pocket it covers at 100%. You have to research on which method of wls. I picked the sleeve because I did not want malabsorption and the % of weight loss for either is almost the same and I do not have significant acid reflux (no inflammation or erosion). The rate of weight loss for bypass is faster but you can have significant deficiencies. And the stomach portion that remains inside can develop ulcers from acid reflux because it is still hooked up to your body - my nurse at my pcp now has this issue plus b-12 deficiency after 7 years. -
What documentation did you need for ins to cover it?

Ex. Are they board certified?

Clear Fast product - how many of you used this before surgery
Sosewsue61 posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Good morning. How many used the Clear Fast product 2 hours before surgery? Please tell your experience. Has anyone asked their surgeon about it if he doesn't recommend this method? Anyone go against and use it anyway?
