    1+ Year Post-Op Journey

You are a lovely girl and are doing quite well. Be realistic about your goal while continuing to learn to love yourself.

    Obesity and malnutrition

Your MIL isn't ready to hear anything right now. Has she ever went to Weight Watchers? If you really listen to WW about the serving sizes and getting the vegetables in - it can work for a long time if you work it well. She may listen to a stranger better than a DIL.....you know how that can go.
  4. Going home in a few minutes. Doing great.
  5. Other than being careful to sip slow and be mindful of incisions things are going well...

    Surgery Yesterday

Just had ab 6oz of broth and 2 bites of jello - big improvement - still have IV at 40% and IV meds. Some mild discomfort - regularly doing 6-12 laps at a time - belching and farting along the way.

    DAMMIT!

Hmm wait.....I got some I hope you don't have to drink the barium stuff for your post-op swallow test - it's worse than man-spunk after an all night binge on Jagermeister and asparagus. Bleech..... And then learning to sip water so it doesn't feel like aquarium rocks going down!!! WTH - hurts so bad......
  9. I am sipping sipping but it's like drinking rocks! Man it goes down hard, I can't get released unless I am drinking 120cc in an hour - you would think that would be doable, right! HA

    Breastfeeding after Post-Op

I second what @rachelzf said. I am a staunch supporter of breastfeeding. She is correct that there is STILL a lot of misinformation regarding breastfeeding and you have to be your own advocate. Physicians are not educated, shoot I have seen unsupportive staff in NICU even. You might want to contact a local La Leche League for help. I am a retired leader and they may have resources for pumps, scales, and literature regarding meds and anesthetic in breastmilk.

    On my way to hospital!

@nicolevsg2 Hope you are doing great!!!! I am doing great. Surgery went as planned. Walked 3 separate times, pain is managed. Great staff.
  12. There are liquid vitamins too, ask your NUT if she can recommend a brand or ask a pharmacist based on content of a bariatric brand.
  13. @Killian Yay! We did it! I made 6 laps 30 minutes ago, it was my 3rd time out. Surgery was at 7:30am and I was in my room at 10:46am. Slight pain, but doing great. Great nursing staff here too at Rockford Mercy. NPO until tomorrow after the barium swallow test.
  14. Thanks. All cool. In my room, walked the hall, fuzzy brain....lol Thanks.
  15. Pre-surgery check in, waiting for them to take me up....nervous. Actually nauseous, probably from taking my vitamins and med. Dreary raining.

    What is your Pre-OP Diet?

I was not allowed the protein drinks for day 9 and 10, on the 10 day pre-op, only broth, vitamin water zero, crystal light, sf popsicles, sf jello, decaf coffee or tea.....so basically noncaloric stuff.

Help! Sleever for 6 days. Carbs?

Try some whole milk yogurt. Drink a little juice just to bring it up or regular gatorade , chase it with lots of protein - pureed cottage cheese. Or call your bariatric clinic. The most important thing is to get the blood sugar to stay up to a normal level - if it goes much lower you could have a seizure and worse.

What Post-Sleeve Rules Do You Break?

    Ooooo yum....I think I need a smoker.
