What Post-Sleeve Rules Do You Break?

@Berry78 Your daughter sounds stressed out, if she comes home and daily eats that something besides true hunger is driving that. She is making food a 'friend' . You don't make rules, but as an adult you can control what food comes in the house, gradually stop buying mac n cheese - maybe put out a bowl of fruit, have yogurts w cereal sprinkled on top? Just suggestions.

    No change in hunger

Liquids aren't going to let you feel restriction at all. Describe your hunger - it could be acid reflux - are you on a PPI?

    Diagnosed with h.pylori

Yes, you'll be fine. The 2 antibiotics I took were bitter horrid things and clarithromycin gave me ringing ears, and dark urine. Taking them with milk helps.

    Can anyone help

Does the physician require proof of purchase or something to prove this is what she used? This doesn't sound right? My NUT gave me a list to choose from, she does prefer bariatric vitamins, or taking 5 Centrum vitamins a day plus calcium citrate in between those multivitamin doses.

    Upcoming surgery

Where are you having surgery? Don't you go to a nutritionist/dietician? Yes vitamins are required. Your physician will tell you when you can exercise and lift weights.

    Stopped losing weight

Do not drop your calories by 240. Without knowing how many calories you are taking in at 5-6 weeks that advice could mean you could only be consuming 400 calories at this stage. ( I am 4 weeks out and consuming average 625 calories in a day.) I would try to use real food as opposed to the processed protein bars, opt for string cheese, or some cubed turkey instead.
  10. I would try thinned mashed potatoes today to see how it's tolerated - you don't want to rush from the table nauseated. You can always fake the 'I have a slight intestinal problem since yesterday' excuse only if someone says anything. If you have not tried minced up meats, I would stay away from trying the turkey - but take some leftovers home and puree them there, pumpkin might be okay, but non-candied sweet potato would be better to try. Bring a lidded stainless steel thermal cup and put your protein drink in that so you do have some nutrition with you and no one can see what it is. If there are hors d'oeuvres you could try part of a deviled egg, if you traditionally do hors d'oeuvres, you could make turkey/chicken meatballs in a savory sauce and have one of those.
  11. I agree with @Berry78 go get IV fluids now or you will damage your kidneys.

Busying your mind - quieting head hunger

If it's head hunger, then it isn't NOT having discipline. You obviously had discipline to follow doctor's orders to get this surgery, it is deeper than that. You may need counseling, you have used food in the past to quell boredom, anxiety, or whatever emotion or thought you need to silence. I suggest when this urge appears that you just close your eyes a minute and 'sit' with the feeling. Ask yourself what happened just before the thought or urge? What feeling are you avoiding? Are you afraid of failing? Etc. The physical need to nourish your body is real. Write out your times for actual food and read it so your mind can absorb the concept - 'oh it's not a scheduled snack or mealtime, I will have a cup of tea or crystal light and wait - it's only an hour away.' But if you must have something - it cannot be SUGAR - have half of your high protein snack in your desk drawer, something you have to chew. Good luck.

  16. Hey OP, @confusedturtle3 - did you get back on-plan? Surgery still on?

    Stopped losing weight

The 'dreaded three week stall' - is very common - just hang in there and keep following the plan. We don't lose every week or in a linear fashion. 31 pounds is awesome so far.

    Introducing Me!

    Congrats Karen and keep posting.
  21. Thanks @nurse247 I have heard she is super with brachioplasty and boobs - curious if she ever does the 'Y' incision brachioplasty. Let me know if she has techniques for minimizing the scar on the arm.
  22. @nurse247 you look so good, not a lot of swelling. Questions - I think I see on your fleur-de-lis a belly button - on others I see no belly button? Was there a special technique for getting to keep one or is it dependant on the individual? And did the Dr do lipo on the pubis mons and 'fix' that area? And are you having this doc do anymore surgeries? Thanks.
  23. I have told my kids/spouses and a couple friends and a niece, and two friends hundreds of miles away. I am retired - so no work to deal with. Regret telling niece, as she may have told my bio sister. But my bio sister is currently not speaking to me - aren't relatives fun!!! <sarcasm > I figure eventually it will become common knowledge with family but by then I will be near goal and won't care anyway. Acquaintances and my square dancing friends don't travel in my family's circle of friends so there won't be gossip from that realm. I have lost 70#s before so people have seen me much thinner doing it on my own and will not think otherwise. Now - when I go buy new boobs, and get a LBL, I am sure there will be plenty of gossip! That might be rather fun though.
