I prefer Bali or Warners, and sorry to be a shitz but I now prefer full granny undies (except frillies on 'special' occasions that the undies are on for like 10 minutes). But then I also wear spanx all in one bra/cami nearly every day to hold the flabby skin at bay. I used to only wear hipsters or bikinis prior to wls.

Asking older sleevers, did I make a mistake?
Sosewsue61 replied to gabybab's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thanks @GreenTealael, I needed the thongs 😂.... lol I am 7 kinds of frustrated and mainly my own fault, but still here... but I just don't know if I can do drastic anymore - protein shakes...ugh! I worry that if I drop the calories below 1400 to lose, then I will have to permanently live on 1000/day forever - not sure I can do that... (I also have ongoing life stress that just grabs ya by the balls all the time....) And I need some female surgery in August that I am sure will produce some weight loss - the rear vag wall needs repairing - rectocele and terrible episiotomies making pooping a contortionist's three ring circus out of me.... I will likely avoid food while healing... -
OK guys maybe I’m just pessimistic (I stress maybe) but am I the only one who has found this surgery to be a complete B*TCH?!

I call Tramadol, damn it all cuz it is worthless. Yeah - I guess doctors are being scrutinized on pain meds, but surgery is not the same as chronic pain... surgeries like this generally heal up and then no one needs the meds. It's stupid to deny people pain meds if they have pain... -

Problem with liquids at 6+ weeks
Sosewsue61 replied to moman1's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Could be inflammation yet, everyone heals differently, or you might have had a hiatal hernia repair and it is stitched tight, or a stricture - it does happen. Try warm liquids first, followed by only room temp, no ice. Upset stomach from milk products also can happen early out, or you could have some reflux - see about taking a PPI. If meat is an issue back down a stage and wait - your body is not ready yet, do soft fish, or sauce with the meat - fat free gravy, broth with the meats. It takes awhile for healing and the muscles to relax. Hang in there. -
It sucks, but in retrospect it only feels like forever. I did have tuna twice just because it was so miserable with just liquids. Some pre-ops get one high protein meal a day - the purpose is to shrink the fatty liver to facilitate lifting it for the surgery and to get the body in fat burning mode rather than carb burning.
-
Most NUTS say no more carbonation, and was told to ditch caffeine until healed. The carbonation actually hurts, the phosphoric acid leaches minerals from your bones, and is caffeine is a diuretic and in the beginning you can easily dehydrate. I have had half a glass of soda here and there but seriously have lost my desire/taste for it. I stick to ice tea, hot tea or crystal light, but mainly water - lots of water. Your taste buds change after surgery anyway. And the money you save on soda can go towards a new wardrobe!

Had Emergency Surgery Just Now

OMG! Fluffy!! Hugs hugs and more hugs! I am so glad you had an amazing surgeon. Please please take it easy (and stop worrying about goal#3 for now)!!! -
Slimes, foamies... yep it will pass, just eat really slow, chew really well, eat 3 bites ad wait 10 minutes to see if you really need bite 4. Some food stages just have to wait awhile as well - lettuce caused trouble for nearly a year....just would not stay down... it's good now.

I had my Gastric Bypass reversed 😞

Oh Alex! I am so happy you went to the ER right away and that you had a good surgery team. Godspeed on healing now. -
It loves it-It loves it NOT
Sosewsue61 replied to Butterfly#7's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yes. And some aversions subside and some never do.... Sometimes we forget and eat too fast, or take too big of a bite, or there is some inflammation. Morning restriction is usually the greatest, try warm liquids in the morning to relax the muscles a bit and slow down. I still cannot do chocolate - only like one piece of plain dark chocolate because early on I got sick on sf chocolate pudding... NO not having it! Just recently can I tolerate chicken breast and steak. Sometimes beef is still a little harsh. Bread must be toasted. I don't do pasta now or rice. -
Good luck. And godspeed to your healing and journey.

Pretty much advice given is what has worked for the individual responding to the OP. And of course it has to fit the individual... This whole forum is nothing BUT non-professional opinions. @GreenTealael Now having said that, the veterans on here are very vocal about people eating (or asking if eating) pizza at 3 weeks has 'ruined' their surgeries. No one should sugarcoat that response. @FluffyChix @JerseyJules @BigViffer You will also see veterans say they have indulged - the majority of those indulgences were far out from surgery and most jumped right back to being on plan. There are exceptions, there are outliers @sillykitty that lose eating erratically and off plan - stats are pretty low that it is this way for most people to succeed. We are ALL passionate about everyone getting the best outcome and utilizing the honeymoon period to their advantage because it does END. That is what motivates our responses.

Have replaced my wardrobe a few times already - bought used or resale or clearance rack. It's one of the best feelings to dump all those plus sizes! I kept a pair of jeans from each size down to stack on top of each other when I get to the goal size. Going to take a picture and frame it. I saw that on here and it was sooo cool.

1 week post OP, feeling great
Sosewsue61 replied to texasnewf's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Welcome to 'the other side'! Good luck. Don't rush the texture stages, we don't progress at the same rate sometimes. -
Isopure ready-made blue raspberry or punch. Or Premier Protein. Or bone broth. Don't buy huge quantities pre-op because sometimes after surgery your taste buds suddenly won't tolerate something that was fine before. Good luck. We all have to suffer through this phase and it feels like forever but goes pretty quick in hindsight.

Liquid protein is very constipating, you might need something - call and ask if they want you to take something specific.

Sorry you experienced so much pain, your surgery team did not manage it correctly. I had a hiatal hernia repair at the same time so swallowing was a bit tough. But they gave me this 1000mg OFIRMEV Tylenol IV med and I did not believe it would have worked that well, but it did plus a couple dilaudid doses and that was it. Took gabepentin home and did not use it. My knee replacement surgery 10 years ago - I cried in my sleep for 6 months and was on hydrocodone the whole time and it was pure misery - but I can dance up a storm. All we can offer is that it does get better, and you will recover. Hang in there the best is coming. -
Oooo you are such a beauty! I love love love that yellow dress too! Good luck on impending surgery, will say prayers too.💖

Isopure ready-made blue raspberry or punch over ice, it is clear and more tart than most protein drinks. Or try thinned Greek yogurt with fairlife milk. And yes, sorry - hair loss, but it happens to the best of us.... It does grow back.

Anthem BCBS denied my surgery [emoji22]
Sosewsue61 replied to Flo-grown's topic in Insurance & Financing
Have you been on a supervised diet w the bariatric nutritionist? If you have then someone did not submit it properly. Did they have a diet plan?Record your weigh-ins? And your progress? Did they submit monthly? There are rules that insurance has on when submissions need to be done - if the surgeon's office did not do this then they have some explaining. Take a deep breath. Talk to the insurance submission person at the bariatric clinic - and have them CALL BCBS and talk to the intake person there and find the issue. Do this in person at the bariatric clinic - not on the phone - the surgeon's office will be very motivated to get it corrected. At the worst your surgery could get delayed. In the meantime, carefully follow the appeals process. Be diligent in following up with the corrected submissions. -
Cut grains too, any starchy carbs - all cause cravings, up your protein and fats - avocado will help you feel satisfied. It will take 3-4 days to rid your body of the stores of the carbs. Drink more plain water. Also some people find artificial sweeteners to cause cravings. It totally suck% to go through the withdrawal - can you find a hobby to do, or go to the lake and read a book - without taking carb food with you. Go to the library, anywhere to get your mind off of the cravings. Take a beauty bath - get a mani-pedi, stay busy busy. Experiment with makeup to try something new. I find when I am dressed up a little and made up and feel pretty I don't want to ruin that with food. Call a friend and just talk. Then call another friend. LOL
