  1. I admit to the same head scratching as @FluffyChix I have a tendency to think everyone is capable of finding, reading and absorbing information the way I do, and that is probably wrong-headed as all heck....slap head. However I don't think 'most people' are truly stupid as much as under educated, and that is a different can of worms.

    First day out of surgery

You can get a patch behind your ear for nausea - scopolamine - ask for one, works for three days. Or zofran scrip. Good luck and welcome to the other side.
  3. Is your doctor in a private practice or in a group at a clinic? If she is in a group, she answers to someone - you might be able to talk to the 'office manager' which is sometimes the senior physician, or whoever is in charge over the clinic physicians. Another physician in the group may have a completely different more educated opinion. (She needs to retire).
  4. Keep your chin up and moving forward, it's the only way any of us can face our fears. We all have them. And you will now face them in better health. Good luck, it gets better as you recover and learn about your body and sleeve. Keep us posted.
  5. @Alex Brecher Something seems weird with the format of the forums (android phone but accessed via Chrome). If I choose 'gastric sleeve forums' there are no sub headings, just listings of topics.
  6. Complications of the sleeve are extremely low, less than 1%. My joints feel much better after the surgery and losing some weight. I used to take nsaids daily before surgery but haven't needed anything after the first week of surgery for pain anywhere. Everyone has fear before surgery, that's normal. I could lose weight but not keep it off.

    Gallbladder and liver damage

No no and no. Go to the ER, your gallbladder can rupture and spill all the contents and thst will poison your system, people frequently die from that. A gallstone can block liver bile ducts. Please do not wait. Read below. Gallbladder problems may develop, which can lead to gallbladder perforation, or rupture. ... Gallbladder rupture is life-threatening, and symptoms warrant immediate medical attention. ... Infection inside the abdominal cavity from a ruptured gallbladder may cause symptoms of septic shock.

    Stalled and stuck

So sorry you don't have a quick fix, I would bug the heck out of the surgeon on this until you get a better solution. The gastro may or may not be the best at analyzing the sleeve?!? I would ask to see the picture of the test and get an appt w the surgeon ASAP. I would demand to see the surgeon based on your constant vomiting. Good luck.

    Best single app for everything?

I like Baritastic, I tried LoseIt, but prefer Baritastic. I also have a fitbit - not crazy about logging food on it.

    Struggling and Regretting

Ok. I know your struggle with the meds for the h pylori, I had to take them for 14 days just prior to surgery. And I was sensitive to one of them - made my ears ring horribly and metallic taste and dark urine, so I completely understand. I had to take the pills with a sip of milk, or try peanut butter. I crush my vitamin and put it in the peanut butter. (Prior to surgery I could down a handful of supplements like no tomorrow.) You state that you have an aversion to milk based shakes? Or is it the sweetness or thickness of them? I had to switch to ready-made Isopure clear protein drinks after surgery and cut in half w crystal light raspberry lemonade. How about soups? Make a soup with bone broth - 8gr protein per cup, add some finely diced chicken thigh and some white beans, garlic, etc. That will be liquid and protein. Keep in touch.

    Need some encouragement

Yes maybe no!! I am not losing right now either, sleeved 10/24. Not consistently tracking either, but when I do track, my macros are okay - at least 60gr protein and 64oz liquids, carbs 30-56gr average. It's a lot depressing which adds to my general seasonal depression which is not good at all. I am also bored with food in general. The scale isn't exactly stopped but one pound a week for the past three weeks is pathetic to me, and half a pound this week.
  12. I am in Illinois, and not ready for plastics yet but very interested in Dr. Peter Fisher in san Antonio. He specializes in wls patients and has some techniques I like. Are you at the stage of getting plastics?

    Format change?

I prefer the old broken down categories as well....not liking it this way, it's harder to find posting categories - it's too general imo.

    TODAY IS THE DAY!!!!!

Good luck and a safe surgery. God bless you and your surgical team.

    Help! Office Potluck!

At 4 weeks out, she can't have veggies n dip, she needs something she can eat. I am sure everyone else can eat what the others will bring. Quiche would be good too, if you can tolerate eggs or deviled eggs.

    First soft food

Mashed/baked sweet potato, cottage cheese, refried black beans, yogurts.
  17. Sosewsue61

    Confused

What type are you consuming? Is it the sweetness, or are you lactose sensitive and it has milk in it?

    Help! Office Potluck!

Meatballs? Cheese and crackers? What is typically served - all casseroles, appetizers, sweets?
  19. Sosewsue61

    Plastics or no plastics ?

@jenn1 - you look strong and fit and not saggy in the pics!!! @OneDollarBill - good luck brave man on your recovery! I hope to have plastic surgery when the time comes, how many types ? At least lower body lift, likely boobs - who knows on arms n thighs, I could probably live with the thigh jiggle. I square dance and would hate to allemande left and knock someone over with my arm skin!!!
  20. Sosewsue61

What weight did you have plastics?

@forgetmenot I have no butt either, fat or not. The surgeon I am interested in when the time comes recommends patients be above goal in order to harvest and render your fat to inject. He also has a hip techique that gives you nice curves.
  21. Use an app like Baritastic to track intake and exercise, journal, etc. It's free. Look for these people on youtube - chemistry queen, jerseyjules, clusie and check out Dr. Matthew Weiner, too.

    Snow, snow and more snow

The sky here is looking like snow coming, we have a couple inches and another inch coming today - by Monday up to 40° - I will try to blow that warm air a little north to Detroit if I can! 🌡

    Wls body shamers smh

I agree with you, and it is sad. This isn't a contest. And people that weigh 200 (depending on height) can still be morbidly obese so I don't understand the mindset that they don't deserve surgery or accolades for being successful in the journey. That is why my sister does not know about my surgery - a niece had a lapband about 5 years ago and she remarked that 'Debbie was not fat enough to need wls.' What! None of your beeswax girl. She is also the sister that laments over and over about how hard it is to lose 10 pounds because of menopause and that she is sooo fat, and hates her gut because she has never been fat until now. She may have a pudge belly but she is not in any danger of being fat, wears a size 8.

Nearly 2 Wks out...Going to Disney World??

The pressure of the 'fast fun' rides would be too much for your new sleeve, please ask your doctor. Carry a little soft side 6pack cooler around with you and a thermal cup. At 2 weeks you will not be able to eat much at one sitting, so some ready-made clear protein drinks will be necessary, at that stage I could only consume cream soups, yogurts, etc. You can pack some high protein yogurt in that cooler too - like siggi's. I was exhausted and needed naps and hydration with all that walking could sneak up on you, and it is much harder to get caught up once you get to that point - be mindful. Have fun, don't over do it.
