My Plastic Surgery Thread
Sosewsue61 replied to sillykitty's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
It is correct that Dr. Peter Fisher is retiring December 2020 and is solidly booked already. However he is looking for a candidate to teach his techniques to, and if he finds interest he will then stay in practice to do that and make new bookings. If that happens it will be posted on the website. (I told him we were crying over this.) On this forum topic a member had great results from Dr. Cardenas in Mexico. https://www.beauty-enhance.com/ -

Phentermine After Weight Loss Surgery
Sosewsue61 replied to Jerricka22's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Ok, so I admit to having a bit of a knee jerk response by using the word 'bashing'. No harm intended. Everything on BP is just sharing opinions. Just to reiterate, phentermine after wls could be an entirely different situation than prior to surgery and as drastic as major surgery is, I don't see trying pharmaceuticals as anything evil if used with knowledge and supervision. -
Contest. Which one is me? Should be easy.... Me and my bio sisters (our 3 brothers are all deceased). (Some of you have seen other pics of me, so don't play lol) This was at that anniversary party, and there was ZERO healthy food, absolutely zero...stuffed italian beef pie, pasta salad, hot dogs, chips, and cake. Who does that?
-
Haven't been on BP (or much social media for awhile) , so always late, terrible at committing to these, applaud @GreenTealael for all her efforts in doing them though. Where to start....how to catch up lol 7. All my friends are 'old' cuz well I'm old. But I do keep in touch with my dearest one - in MD. (We were army wives together in Hawaii.) Goals: #1. I have to stop being reluctant to losing the last 30 pounds. Why is it that I am not committing? #2. I finally, finally accepted that my sister isn't reconciling with me after 2 year estrangement, and I am okay with that. I saw her this weekend at a cousin's anniversary party, and she was so phoney nice with the hugging, and taking pictures - I wanted to puke on her. This is bio sister I was never raised with, I was adopted out, only sibling out of 6 adopted out....long story. Love her dearly. #3. I weigh 174 -177 consistently for 10 months now. 2 yr anniversary October 24th coming up. I want to weigh 140-144. I was 169 a few times for a hot minute. #4. Immediate plan - track 100% - I have been tracking on and off only 3 days a week average for many months now. I have tracking aversion after being a serial WW member forever. I dislike thinking about food, meal planning, food, being hypervigilent makes me crazy....seriously.

Phentermine After Weight Loss Surgery
Sosewsue61 replied to Jerricka22's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Phentermine does work, and you still have your surgery to curb your portions after using it. It still takes work either way. I think bashing anyone's attempt to get on track is wrong, getting there, then staying there is why we had surgery. If it was simply calories in, calories out, and exercise wouldn't we already be there and not need surgery in the first place? I used it for a short time but after 2 days it kept me awake for like 20 hours several days....and that I couldn't handle. There is also diethylpropion and some phentermine combinations too. If regular doc won't prescribe, bariatric ones will, mine did. -

Venting about my husband
Sosewsue61 replied to BlueAngelEyes's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You needed to vent, come here any time and do that - it's important for your mental health and your journey. Some men are insecure when the wife makes drastic physical changes and changes the roles that were in place before. He may not know how to handle that. Your description sounds like he is needy and depressed, if his depression meds mess with libido that could bother him. (Wellbutrin does not do that BTW. It takes 3 weeks to take effect, and in some it can have a slight appetite depressant as well.) Depression is joyless and makes a person feel stuck. Men seldom go to counseling, but suggest it anyway. Try to think back to when you dated and did things together - maybe suggest a date night once a week based on those common interests. Tell him he has to get dressed up, go to a bar with music and dance and talk - you can just get water with lemon so it looks like a drink. Getting out of the house is good for depression. Or invite another couple over to do something - even just playing cards. Did he ever have hobbies? Motorcycles or bowling, fishing, trains, etc. Arrange a picnic to a forest preserve for the family and lock the phones in the car, bring a frisbee. Good luck. -
Consistently feeling icky...6 weeks post-op
Sosewsue61 replied to DanieHall's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's normal, it's takes some people longer to heal, and for inflammation to subside. Just keep fluid intake high. I still had slimes/foamies and upchucked months out from food. And you have low energy from lack if calories, just make sure you get your protein and fluids in and a few vegetables and it will progress. You could however have a bit of reflux, you might try a small dose of prilosec to see if that takes care of it. -
Physical occupation...Can you do?

It would depend on what your physician approves. It is major surgery. -
Help! Experiencing terrible cramps
Sosewsue61 replied to ToriL's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Don't eat that, it's just filler food and not very nutritious - concentrate on your protein goals and liquid goals. You are better off with ricotta bake, Greek yogurts or soups with protein at this food stage - unless you have a milk allergy or something. Cream of wheat/rice are just processed carbs - no value. If you feel you need a carb try a baked sweet potato. -
Everyone looks super super cute and tiny!!!

Hey there, we all get discouraged when we keep trying to do it by the rules and the results are not showing up. I will listen to your need to vent, but then I expect you to take action once again, and to keep trying. Don't go online and look for more hints or diets, don't read the news - all you will get is negative stuff and you don't need that right now, don't compare yourself to anyone else's journey. 1) do you journal and weigh food? Get an app on your phone and use it, pick one - myfitnesspal or Baritastic or whatever one you prefer. 2) how much protein and carbs are you eating, how much water are you drinking everyday? Track for one week, you don't have to change your eating - just track ALL of it and be honest. You are accountable to yourself, that is all any of us has. Stay off the scale. 3) get a notebook, any kind, label it 'junk journal', in it write every shitty thing that sits in your brain - oh such as I hate my skinny effing coworker that is lazy while I work my arss off, I hated my third grade teacher, my back doctor is an azzhat. I will never be normal.... I hate myself and I am a failure, then think about all of this for a minute and forget it because most of it is not true...but it gets it out of your head. Turn the book over to the back and label it - gratitude - write I am thankful for how far my body has carried me here, I love my wife very much, she really does want me to be happy, the hot shower felt sooo good, etc. Begin to fill this side up more, you are worth it. 4) after one week of tracking - don't eat after 7:30pm, just have tea or water or no caloric drinks. Do this for another week. This will be tougher at first. Stay off the scale. Journal. Do this for 4 weeks, just to get stable. Then weigh yourself. Then go analyze what you ate in the last 4 weeks. If you didn't lose, change two small things until you see what gets results - maybe you need more or less protein, more or less fat, or maybe a baked potato did not derail your weight loss at all. You have time. Relax, it's not over unless you give it that power. BTW - I am not at my goal 21 months out, I have been in a 6 pound range for nearly a year, I still need to lose 30-40 more pounds. I still plan on getting there and I am trying to see what works for myself as well.

International Cross-Country Hiking - Diet Issues
Sosewsue61 replied to mousecat88's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Go on a hiking board and ask someone that has taken this hike what they were fed - I don't think there are large numbers of wls patients on this board that have had this experience. A year may change all of your food capabilities, I think you will have to wait 6 months to see what you can eat then and make decisions. I do find it odd that you can eat turkey jerk but not chicken. Good luck.
