Drinking before or after protein shakes

At this stage of the program just get as much liquid in as you can, sip all day long. When you get to semi-solid food then it matters.

    Put in my place...

Good that you are paying attention to behaviors. But you must disassociate yourself from feeling bad, and that food is bad too. It's not and you are not. Food is just food. The anxiety is causing you to fall into behaviors that before helped you calm down, we use food to chemically and physically deal with an issue, a feeling, avoiding a decision - a myriad of situations. You give it power - so you can also stop giving it power and that is the key to this whole thing. Do not feel shame. Shame never helps anyone. It will be easier after surgery (to a point) to not eat those items because you physically can't and you will be less hungry overall. But you will need to develop coping mechanisms for the anxiety and feelings that led to eating instead of dealing with whatever is causing them. This is everyone's battle. You can do it. Good luck.

    Scared thinking of canceling surgery

Please don't get a lapband, your family is undereducated on this subject, the two people I know are getting theirs out because of erosion. You are morbidly obese, don't let fear be the reason to have this chance at a healthier life - yes this is major surgery but the technology now makes this easier than a gall bladder surgery - I am 62 and if I can do it so can you. I had the sleeve Oct 24th and i am doing great. You can do this, you need this.

    Afternoon Exhaustion

I am glad you are getting checked - it could be anemia or another deficiency or something else. I hope you find out and get it resolved. Good luck.

    Pre op diet question

Liquid diets suck, no two ways about it. The pre-op diet is to shrink your liver so they can lift it and easily get to the stomach to do surgery - not to make you suffer needlessly. You can do this, you will survive it fine. Try some bone broth or vegetable broth, or a clear protein drink. Sweet shakes do get tiresome.

    What do y’all do?

Chewing is a biological response and it's normal to want to chew. BUT DON'T give in to that. Go read a book, do paint-by-number, take a shower, talk a walk, (make someone else put all the leftovers away). This will pass and you can do this, it's not that much time it just feels like it. Hang in there.
  9. Nothing much will be apparent in three days except whether you can sip liquids. I had a swallow test 24 hours after surgery as a check for leaks. Strictures most likely would not be apparent yet unless extreme. Do a lot of reading on this forum and other online bariatric education sites. Good luck.

When do you bite the bullet....

No..quit being a chicken and get in that closet and try some stuff on.....
  11. Your PCP can order all the labs and tests and send those results to another physician in prep for surgery. All the bloodwork, stress test, upper endoscopy, sleep study, etc. The reason codes for insurance can be to check for sleep apnea, heart disease, GERD, general bloodwork etc - not as presurgery clearance. Research the surgeon you pick carefully. Good luck.
  12. You are likely dehydrated. You might need an IV for fluids. Don't neglect this, go get checked. How is urine output? You should pee every two hours and it should be light in color and not scanty in volume. Try popsicles or warm tea first to help with imflammation, push liquids - don't obsess over protein goals, but liquids yes - you have to get those 64 ounces in - HAVE TO.

    Cigna insurance denials

Why a lapband? Very few surgeons are recommending lapbands these days due to all the slipping and erosion and issues, many that have them are getting them removed and having a revision to the sleeve.

    Just bad days?

Are you on anything for acid reflux? Could it be vitamins causing it? Tell your surgeon, go get it checked.
  15. Scale ha - I have a physician's balance scale that has sat in the same spot for 15 years.....just sayin' there is no wiggle room on the numbers...
  16. I am right there with you AGAIN. I am at 184, 185, 184, 185.5, 184, 185, 184.5 for almost a month and was at 186 for a month too....getting old here literally lol Let's just go get drunk at the nudie bar and raise hell!!!

    Hubby now wants surgery

Yay! I call bs on the divorce rate as well, I mean how many people were actually polled and then compared to the national divorce rate based on 'what demographics'?

    Sex

    Two weeks...but no gymnastics lol
  20. You have to let go of the shame, you can't move forward unless you are kind to yourself. My two grandgirls age 8 and 10 live here, they don't know what kind of surgery I had but they understand Grandma is on a specific plan and getting healthy. My adult kids know and where very on board with it and cheer me on. I did not tell a lot of other people, only a select few.
  21. Yeah @AshAsh1 glad you are sailing along!!

    Over age 60

the sleeve....because I did not want malabsorption, I did not want to risk ulcers in that unused stomach portion, and overall difference in weight loss percentage between the two is negligible.

    Photo of stretched sleeve
