Post RNY - Dress size question
Sosewsue61 replied to nycgirl18's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
That dress is perfect for altering - easy peasy. Ask the store how close it runs to retail sizes - if it runs small or what. I say 16-18 and then you will be safe. It needs a rhinestone belt though to sparkle it up (Amazon) - suggest that to the girls and bride. You will dazzle it, girl! Good luck! -
Here you guys what I look like so far

Holidays and traveling?
Sosewsue61 replied to dreamingofasleeve's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Pasta is not attractive to me anymore after my sleeve. How about an fish stew or steamed mussels - mmm yum. Same in Paris - Dover Sole Meuniere - yep browned butter and wine reduction sauce with some asparagus as a side. Get eggs - crepes instead of waffles...with fresh fruit. Picture some skinny b***h dressed in high designer fashions eating at an outdoor café - is she going to ruin that figure with a WAFFLE! I think not! Imagine your skinny self getting her picture taken in front of the Eiffel Tower - ruin that with a WAFFLE! I think not! LOL I will warn you however, the bread is incredible and european butter too. Do eat some, but be picky! -
High Protein Snack Foods
Sosewsue61 replied to Orchids&Dragons's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Almonds? Cheese crisps? Crunchy is hard to get from protein sometimes. -
Did you just take it once or repeat daily until you go? Maybe suppositories or an enema.

Holidays and traveling?
Sosewsue61 replied to dreamingofasleeve's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Trying food isn't eating the whole 9 courses. But having said that - food isn't the goal to going to Europe is it? I thought it was about the experience. Like seeing monuments, art galleries, museums, mountains, shopping, hiking, etc. Where are you going? Get excited about the places. -
Post RNY - Dress size question
Sosewsue61 replied to nycgirl18's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Well bridesmaid dresses generally run smaller than retail sizes at any rate, and what style is it? Boned, fitted bodice w chiffon skirt? Fitted empire, a-line, strapless fit n flare? A lot depends on that factor. Also a lot of beading or lace, etc. Better to get bigger than smaller - a 16 maybe. Post a picture of the dress, might help. Can you order an extra yard of matching fabrc? -

GI issues post-op, a year out. Did anyone else experience this?
Sosewsue61 replied to jessgnc's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have no special advice, but I hope you get some help and relief. Maybe the test results will yield something, have they done an endo? Maybe have that done to check the bacteria? -
Hmm don't know why you can't see the link. 83 year old lingerie model - former playboy bunny.

I am not RNY, so I have no experience with RNY eating. As for a sleeved person, at 4 weeks I was constipated regularly (or is that regularly irregular lol) - sooo bread would have contributed to that issue alone and even now I toast my bread unless it is a hard roll because it gets stuck in my sleeve and then - well 'the slimes'!!! But at 4 weeks it was just protein and 1 T of vegs. No pasta at all yet. Only 1-2T of rice and that can be iffy too. Dense protein, good fats - like avocado, and vegetables will make you more satisfied - planned snacks, planned meals. Good luck.

Yay for you! I have been stalled for almost 3 months - lost a pound or two and stalled yet again. It is miserable to say the least.

Emotional roller coaster after weight loss
Sosewsue61 replied to NanoQ's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
So sorry you have had these complications. I hope you find relief soon. Is the ulcer in the unused stomach portion or the pouch or both? Maybe try yoga or meditation class, get a massage. Are you allowed oral medication? Short term antidepressants maybe - like Wellbutrin? -
I can just now do some raw crunchy vegetables - cucumber, radish, pea pods but romaine lettuce is still a no-go, I can do spring greens a little bit. Have not tried corn on the cob - I will wait until July when it is locally fresh (not from Mexicco).

It's easier to resist after surgery, but get counseling any way. Food addiction is real and you need coping skills to deal with the 'how' - how to not turn to food for comfort, or use it to relieve anxiety/shame/boredom, etc. You can do this if you learn to look at food as just food. Good luck.
-
Ditch the chips. Why chips anyway? You are eating the wrong carbs and those carbs make you crave more carbs - that is one reason you are hungry. Not enough protein every day and good fats. Take higher protein yogurt for lunch, make a dozen hard boiled eggs (it only takes a few minutes - you can do this while cooking dinner), (take dinner leftovers for lunch and eat while taking a walk instead of driving to Subway) and take the eggs for lunch and some cheese for a snack. I need daily totals. A whole day. Are you weighing/measuring food? Tracking food on an app? I use Baritastic, it's free. Eating takeout for lunch is an excuse, unless you pick better takeout than Subway and chips. Seriously.

So post what you are eating in one day. Ounces/grams of protein, ounces of liquids, etc. Are you taking a PPI for reflux - acid can mimmick hunger pangs. How often are you eating? Are you walking daily - how much/often? Are you pooping? That may sound weird but it is important. How much did you lose pre-op? I am not concerned about your dr's food stages, I have a friend's doctor that advanced the food stages rapidly and she is doing fine. But need more information.

Post op day 1 - I have had the easiest recovery and here is why....
Sosewsue61 replied to karmanodrama's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Ok. I'll chime in here with my personal experience. Before surgery my anesthesiologist gave me a scopolamine patch for nausea (it lasts 3 days) and as a result I had none - lifesaver imo. The anesthetic used for surgery was propofol and I thought it was a good choice. For pain meds I had IV Tylenol known as paracetamol 1000mg, and it was awesome, I only had one dose of dilaudid because the pain kept me from sleeping the second night. I went home with liquid version of hydrocodone and have it stashed unused in the medicine cupboard. I have taken Aleve 3 times in 5 months for arthritis shoulder pain. My surgeon said use nsaids rarely and only if absolutely necessary. -
The Average American Woman
Sosewsue61 replied to Creekimp13's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Isn't the trouble with an average is that there are an equal number are above that and an equal number below that? 38" waist seems large as an average. -
Look at you all active and fit looking!!! Wow!

Let's Play Another Round of "How Much Am I Eating Now?"
Sosewsue61 replied to FluffyChix's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
@Apple203 you will be fine on the cruise, I went February 2nd and did great - you can get an omelet and roasted tomatoes for bf, or smoked salmon - or 1000's of items at the buffet. Formal dining has many great fish or chicken dishes to pick from. Bring your own thermal water bottle and a small insulated bag - to take/bring snacks with you when sightseeing off the boat - I took cashews and string chesse, etc. -
This food stage seems like an eternity, but it will pass and you will feel better as soon as you can have some actual food. Hang in there, you are at least on 'this side of the river' now and moving forward.
