  1. @Creekimp13 - question - how old are you?
  2. The hubs, hands down #1, then my 3 daughters - particularly Dominique, and a couple other friends. Although the hubs has no idea of the struggle, he is cheering me on - but can also be a bugger for bringing in snack chit - the rule is it has to be crap I won't eat no matter what - chocolate donuts cheetos, fritos - I cannot even stand the smell of fritos....
  3. Fluffychix is correct on this elevation during weight loss. I am sure mine are high, my personal opinion is I won't take the statins, not gonna happen.

    Intimacy / mental health / pre-op thoughts

I think you need to work on your self esteem in regards to your body image, and work on finding a way to meet your intimacy needs while remaining married, if that is your goal. Do this before saying yes to surgery. Surgery is a huge mental issue in and of itself because you examine yourself so closely in ways you never have before, and it is scary chit. You could be hiding behind that fat for a reason you aren't even aware of......like once I am finally thin and fit and then get rejected, now what do I feel? I don't believe the divorce rate is related to the surgery. I believe divorces happen because the marriage isn't working for one or both, and the surgery just makes this fact a glaring revelation. My marriage will not be detrimentally effected by it in the least, unless more bedroom gymnastics results in an injury 😆

Why are my neighbor's kids not wearing helmets...

As long as this is an opinion editorial.... I think safety is good, but being overprotective is not. I grew up in the country - rode bikes with no helmet, broke some mean horses, baled hay, was towed behind a pickup truck with sleds by the drunk neighbor, swam in the creek, etc. I always wear seat belts and mororcycle helmets. If all the sidewalks are steep hills and such, helmets might be a good idea. I believe parents have a right to raise their kids in their own way as long as there is no abuse. So refrain from calling CPS, and that really bothers me that it was even suggested.
  6. So I'm guessing the mass can't be removed as a first surgery? The overall outcome percentage-wise is very close for the sleeve compared to rny, the losses are slower but continue longer. You will find the mental aspect exactly the same for any wls procedure, it is still hard work and a lifelong haul.

    Fear of Chickening Out

You need to cultivate other 'pleasures' other than food. This is the time to think about that relationship. Your body needs food, and food is a good experience for most of us after surgery, but it is not all there is....as the song goes. Not eating all day, then wolfing is a symptom of actually needing fuel, not being able to stop eating is a symptom of something emotional - a need to relieve anxiety, stress, to zone out, etc. You need to pay attention to that need and find another way - and biking might become that stress relief. Good luck on this journey to figure that out.
  8. Ok, so 10 oz of chicken breast is like 308 calories, and snapper is 283 - so that is not particularly enough calories IMO

    Goal weight vs Comfortable size

Well, I am not at goal - about 45ish pounds from it. IF 184 was to be a stopping point, I could live with that weight because I am full of energy, I look better and feel better. BUT that isn't going to happen, I want more. I want to be more fit, thinner and I am betting I will feel even better at a lower weight.

  11. I agree w @FluffyChix consult all your specialists first and therapists because if you didn't make the permanent changes in your relationship to food w the sleeve - no surgery will fix that. Plus depression and your other health issues can contribute to this perfect storm you are experiencing. I wish you good luck, and you have had some good success, just build on it. You don't mention exercise, add more of that if you can - it helps everything - especially depression.

    Sleep post surgery.

This is all part of the recovery process, sleep when you need to, even if it is shorter naps - that is when the body repairs itself. In a few weeks you will feel better and in a couple months get an energy boost - at almost 6 months I am damned bouncy!!!!

    Weird Happy Surprise

Thank you @Creekimp13 I needed that. I have been in an endless stall for 2 months!!! I have upped my exercise this past week with the hope of shaking it up so that I see something more than one pound loss. The weight I am at is one that I saw briefly 9 years ago and used to be my weight when I was age 28-32 yrs old after having 4 kids. I hope the stall is just my body adjusting to the changes, I do see fat shifting....lol
  14. If you have that much sugar in your system it doesn't heal well - it has nothing to do with the surgery being 'only 1 hour', you are cutting 85% of your stomach out and will have 5 incisions that need to heal, plus likely a fatty liver that must be lifted out of the way to perform this surgery. I don't know your personal health issues with regard to uncontrolled blood sugar levels. But I have 2 (now adult) type I diabetic kids and 10 is a terrible a1c. Physicians want the best outcome for the patient and aren't out to exclude surgery for a patient just to be mean. Cut out ALL the carbs, sugar and anything that causes inflammation (salt, dairy, red meat, etc) for three months, and if you can - walk for an hour every day - even if it is in 10 minute increments. You may have to keep jumping through hoops.

    Potassium deficiency

Magnesium - but not magnesium carbonate the brand Triple Calm is a combo of 3 magnesium salts and won't give you diarrhea like carbonate will if you take too much.

    Potassium deficiency

I hope you find answers. When I get cramping, it is mainly calf, foot, thigh, groin cramps and they are relieved with magnesium. I use Triple Calm magnesium and it works for me. Good luck.

    My gastric sleeve journey

Crazy good for you, great journey so far!
  18. Criteria for surgery, do you have comorbidities? Are there exceptions or just flat out refusal to cover bariatrics at all? Changing jobs sounds drastic but sometimes you have to make those decisions.

    1 Week post-op and failing

Try alternating warm drinks like bone broth with cold drinks, or at least warm first thing in the morning helps relax the muscles in the esophagus and stomach. I could not tolerate thick shakes either and went with ready-made Isopure punch or blue raspberry diluted w crystal light lemonade. Hang in there, this stage feels like forever but you can get through it.

Did I lose too much to qualify?

BCBS is a stickler for the rules. Can you put baggy pants on and strap ankle weights underneath to qualify? Layer clothes, heavy shoes? Rolls of quarters in your pockets? How many pounds to get from 38 to 40 BMI, do the math.
  23. You look fabulous! Great job. I hope the weight loss helps your medical conditions too.
  24. Hang in there. I feel for your situation and hope the tests reveal the issue and a solution is found. I hope they are checking your vitamin and mineral levels too. Good luck.
