Totally Failing at this Pre Op Diet
Sosewsue61 replied to gully90's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I wasn't perfect on pre-op, I ate some tuna twice because I was a basket case. Just hang in there. Napping and long walks helped a little. You can get through this stage. -
Don't do it, it sucks but trying something like that before you are healed enough is risky business. Hang in there, it's not like you will never eat wings again. Relax.

Congrats on getting approval. Keep reading and researching.

WOW @xoxococojay, you are working that dress!! -
I believe most people are expressing 'an earnest hope or wish'. On a humourous sarcastic note: If you are atheist stop appropriating the word 'hell', as you obviously don't believe in it....lol

Do you tell people you've had VSG
Sosewsue61 replied to DVontesmommy1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I only told people I felt comfortable confiding in, and ones that would support my decision. Sometimes that is a gamble, so keep that in mind. In my opinion do not tell co-workers or your bosses, it is a personal medical matter and deserves respect and not judgements. You don't need to be upset by gossip, unfavorable opinions while you are navigating surgery and all the changes you will encounter. Good luck. -
Congratulations! It's great that you have a supportive wife. Rest and get fluids. Good luck.

Getting started
Sosewsue61 replied to DVontesmommy1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
In my case, i had to get a referral from PCP, attend a seminar on the surgeries, my surgeon was not in-network but I got approval for in-network billing because the nearest in-network surgeon was 2 hours away. Insurance covered bariatrics, but required 6 months supervised nutrition, 6 months food diary, 6 months exercise diary, plus surgeon's tests and psych eval, I could not GAIN during that 6 months supervision. After last NUT appt it was submitted and approved by insurance in two days, then the EDG exam and two week dreaded liquid diet. It took from April until October for all this. Good luck. -
I'll add my rant... I'm freaking out, surgery is in 1 week, 1 day, is this normal? YES, grow a pair you will be fine. I will help anyone as well, but I encourage using the search tool and reading historical posts. I am now researching the plastic surgery posts, and lurking on the veteran site so i can gain perspective into what's next and maintenance, even though I have 40# to go yet. My favorite topic is success stories and pictures of before and after.

It's the thought behind it that counts, no one intends insult nor offense when offering a prayer.

I think if you are an atheist why would it even matter?

Welcome. Statt reading the posts here and use the search tool (magnifying glass) if you have questions. We all lose at a different rate, so don't stress on the numbers. Take your measurements, you will be surprised that during slow weight loss your body is adjusting and inches slide off. Track your food with a free app like Baritastic or myfitnesspal or Lose It. I weigh daily but don't get hung up on the numbers, it is just a reference. I know some people wait to get new clothes, but don't do that - go to resale shops and get smaller clothes as you lose - because you can see yourself improve in different clothes and you will enjoy all the losses as they happen, reward yourself all along the way. Good luck.

Grt an exercise dvd from the library or use your phone and youtube a video on exercise. Find a friend to walk with, start a group at your church. Stalls suck, not going to lie about it, I have lost 5 pounds in 3 months because of stalling....hang in there 20 pounds is good, don't stress, get some sleep because worrying causes stress hormones to increase. Increase water, try eating soft baked fish, sometimes just changing a couple things jolts the body into losing, and sometimes it just takes a couple more weeks. During my stall I lost 6 inches in my waist and hips, so measure yourself. Good luck.

Do tired of vomiting
Sosewsue61 replied to moondoggie1983's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Call your PCP and ask for a scrip for a nausea patch that goes behind your ear ASAP. Sleep in the recliner or propped up, go ahead and take all the naps you need. Try some protein soups instead of sweet shakes, sip some ginger tea. DO NOT take the load of crap from the surgeon's office, ask for the office manager if they keep this up, everyone has a boss. There is no reason to not get the care you need. I would show up and puke on their floor... -

Upset, cannot get in water or protein
Sosewsue61 replied to Codedsub's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Try iced green tea, or warm decaf tea diluted, or peppermint or ginger tea. Fluid is critical. Even though I had the sleeve, I had food aversion and it sucks, it does pass with some time. Smells bothered me too. The warm liquid before food may relax the muscles somewhat. Maybe you can get medication for nausea from your surgeon. Good luck. -

Hang in there, it improves by week 4 vastly. Take more naps, then walks. You are nutritionally deficient right now and that will mess with your head. As soon as you can do some real food your mood will improve. Are you allowed yogurt yet, or sip some plain milk in between? Homemade bone broth with carrots and celery pureed then strained made life sooo much better. Good luck. -

Need advice for my unique situation (specifically two months post-op)
Sosewsue61 replied to sleevedinschool's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
After surgery some shakes you previously tolerated might not be tolerated in the new smaller stomach, I had to ditch the shake versions for clear ones - like ready-made blue raspberry Isopure. Remember to replace salt lost with marching in GA heat. -
Sorry NO substitutions

I would have gotten her fired. I would have shown the note to the owner/manager AND photo - blogged it on their website besides. Bravo to you both!!!
