  1. @AshAsh1, lol...I just did this at the nail salon while gettig a pedicure - 6 out of 10 women there could benefit from wls and I thought Oooo if I could only share that info, I did not of course but my mind went there.
  2. No experience on this, but some physicians will bill the panniculectomy to insurance and let you pay the out of pocket difference for the tummy tuck. You might ask about that and save up the difference in price.

OMG My Home Scale is a Liar!

Years ago I bought an old school physicians balance scale (Health O Meter) and threw out all those spring loaded scales. It consistently weighs 2#s lighter than my Dr.'s office scale. But I think there are better electronic ones these days But consumer reports tested the fancy body fat ones and were not impressed, (Tanita is a brand that was recommended by weight watchers years ago.) https://www.consumerreports.org/body-fat-scales/body-fat-scale-review/
  4. If business economics don't play a role in locking down the veteran's board why should that be a factor in locking down the guys n gals boards? Otherwise it would be one board titled, 'all those intimate questions'. It appears the original concept of them was to make separate boards, and use the honor system as regulation and as shown that is not really working as planned.
  5. I thanked my body for getting me this far in life, for keeping me safer (even though that is an illusion), as that was my past. I tried to say goodbye to the past and to holding onto anything keeping me in the past. I have to be reminded frequently to keep in the present but it is getting a little easier. Regarding the 'view' in the mirror, I am still getting used to it. I used to pick someone out in the crowd that was close to my large size to see if I could 'see' what everyone else was seeing. I did a decent job of comparimg. Right now though I find it difficult to pick out someone my current size, I just don't have the perspective. I tried to get my husband to play this game, ha ha!!! He tried to literally find someone with my butt, my height, etc etc....I told him forget it, you are just trying to play it safe by NOT picking someone, by saying no one has my shape.
  6. Congrats on your weight loss - it is a great achievement! Stay strong. Perhaps you should go out for coffee together and have a heart-to-heart with the husband. Remind him of how respectful you were when he was newly sleeved and how it helped him, and now that it is your turn you NEED the same (need not want). If he can't recommit, suggest counseling. If he won't go to counseling, go by yourself. At the VERY least he should eat that crap outside the home, and not bring it around you. Don't let him make you buy it with the weekly groceries. Hang in there because you ultimately cannot control another person.

    Do tired of vomiting

Soo glad you got help and doing better. Nix eggs for awhile, some people have to wait months to be able to tolerate them. You may have to ease ito foods super slow until you heal and your tummy gets used to textures.

    I'm stuck...

Lauri, sorry you are all kinds of frustrated. I hope you can find a therapist soon. In the meantime, try to go back to basics like right after surgery. Protein and vegetables, water, water, water. Use Baritastic to track food, water, and walking. The app is free. Walking is free. STOP BUYING KEURIG flavored coffee, the caffeine is dehydrating and likely running you at full speed and then making you crash. Wean off the caffeine, do half and half decaf, get some Toriani flavored syrups from Walmart and fake the flavored coffee, use Premier Protein caramel as creamer. Do you have hobbies? Take a community ed class - they are usually low cost, is there a knitting group or book club nearby, is there a Y where you can go swimming? You can meet new people. Also that Psych eval was long ago, so I call BS on blaming her for your eating, just saying..... You can do this, you know what you are doing wrong. Start now. Keep posting, I'll keep answering.

    Depression and Self-Doubt

Some medications don't absorb as well in the new stomach, check with your doctor on that. Hormones can be messed up after surgery and when fat gets released our bodies go through hormonal transitions, and that can mess with your head too. Some regret in these first few weeks is expected, hang in there. Maybe you should seek therapy for emotional eating because you will need alternatives for dealing with stress, etc - many of us turn to exercise - walking, yoga, golf, swimming. I get out of the kitchen and go to a quiet place in my house - I might read or write in a journal - I have anxiety - and it can be a challenge. Your body is healing right now, be kind to yourself. Food is fuel and not a best friend, that can be a tough realization. You will be able to indulge a little once you get to goal, so take heart and try not to see this as some fatalistic cliff.
  11. Thank you so much for sharing, we are the same age and starting weight but I am shorter, 7 months sleeved and a ways to go until goal. Nice to see your calorie count in maintenance.
  12. Hello and welcome!! There are many changes and challenges to look forward to on this trip into being sleeved. Do a search in the forums and read all you can. Congrats on already making exercise a part of it. Repetitive motion injuries will probably not get relieved with this surgery, you may reduce inflammation but cannot reverse damage. My joints ache less but are not completely pain free, but since I have less padding hard chairs are a lot harder lol - and I bang my knees together now rolling over in bed. But these are NOT complaints, I can RUN up stairs now, so I will gladly take the trade-offs. Energy increases after you heal, and that takes awhile, but it is pretty amazing. Just follow the food stages, drink fluids constantly, track your food and water and walk. Good luck.

    Food tracker

I use Baritastic. Lots of people use myfitnesspal or LoseIt.
  14. Ditto what Matt said. I love my Sip by S'Well. https://www.amazon.com/Swell-Vacuum-Insulated-Stainless-Bottle/dp/B01L6MX7GO/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1528375623&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=sips+by+swell&dpPl=1&dpID=31tzUHtlacL&ref=plSrch It fits in nearly every cup holder and the narrow neck is easy to grab and take small sips. It goes everywhere with me.
  15. Ooo sorry the meds sucked, ask for IV acetaminophen 1000mg/6, no side effects
  16. Sorry, hon that you are suffering so much. I don't have any real advice other than to try different GERD medications as different brands/types work better for some people. I hope you get some helpful responses. Good luck.

    6 months post op

Woohoo!!! You go girl! Your face is more joyful!
  18. We sometimes try to medicate with food to numb our feelings of feeling like an imposter or that we are unworthy. You might benefit from some counseling. Sometimes as you lose weight, the person that has been demeaning to you will up the ante by becoming even more mean and nasty. These are totally HIS problems. I suggest you tell him straight out - 'I get it that you don't approve, and your comments reflect that, but from this point forward I don't want to hear another negative comment from you. I'm not asking you to change your bloody opinion, just refrain from blathering about it. I AM GETTING THIS SURGERY. Statistics are in my favor for success, I am the only one making this choice. There will be changes in the menus around here. '

    New journey starting!

Welcome and congrats! Not going to lie - the preop liquid diet is worse than the postop liquid diet. Try to find a hobby to keep your mind off the dreaded liquid diet. Do some crafts with the kiddos - painting or something, take walks or naps if you have to. Good luck!
  20. Mine did not require any clearing of the pipes, so just follow your dr's advice.

    My NSV

    Crazy good feeling! Congrats!!!

    Possible I've Lost Too Much?

It must be quite a change for you, I would feel the same way. You look like a normal weight to me. Just try to meet your macros and maybe add some good fats. Good luck.

Having trouble believing my stomach is gone

It's def weird, I felt very weird getting total knee replacement - having bones cut and metal parts. That you can feel at least lol, but poof 85% of your stomach, it's like David Cooperfield did a 'slight of hand' trick with a black tablecloth. Presto!
  24. Track with a free app, yes it's annoying but just do it. Use Baritastic or myfitnesspal or whichever one you will consistently use. Protein first, then vegetables, then allowed starch. Try just 3 meals and one snack - no grazing. Water, water, water. You can do it. Good luck!
