  2. Ok lurking, speed reading like 4 pages of posts. In hotel in Paducah KY for Quilt Week. Hubs is grilling salmon, I stir-fried veggies. Will post what I eat but here is my handy-dandy Wee Skillet that I hope never gets me kicked out of the hotel for cooking in the room. I don't have my IF schedule quite worked out yet.

    Swallow test before leaving hospital?

Ugh that contrast is THE nastiest tasting stuff! But you will survive.

    Oh my chicken is rough

Not unusual, I can barely tolerate chicken breast meat at 11 months - no matter how I fix it? I can however do well with grilled thigh meat - yum. Also just now can handle lettuce, so thereis that too. It slimed before 😣
  6. The science does not support that high of stats on reactive hypoglycaemia in bypass patients. It seems in your case, you did not continue to have it with the sleeve, but now need the rny to combat something causing you daily pain and a definite issue. I would go with fixing the current known issue.
  7. This is the mental prep we all go through, hopefully during the preop phase - because it is easier during this phase. You have to stop considering everything as 'food events', take a hard look at why food as recreation should be this important. This has to be a hard realization and has to happen BEFORE you re-introduce any trigger food back into your life or you will be free falling. You can enjoy food again that you truly like, but be picky. Seriously - cotton candy? Save it for some supremely decadent chocolate cake, cheesecake, the very best strawberry shortcake w real whipped cream. There are no food famines, food will not disappear, but I promise - jeans EIGHT sizes smaller will trump that cotton candy any day. Hang in there.

    I am just naive

<begin rant> I tend to be intuitive, I can pick up cues when people are up to something, when emotions are simmering, but then can also tend to be naive, or want to believe that people's intentions are good when they are not. I realize without being specific that this sounds wacky. I am dealing with news that someone in my immediate family is doing cocaine, has been on and off, I knew about it in the past and I thought it was not happening anymore, but with a new job that pays exceptionally well, this 'recreational use' is back in swing at a level that is alarming. And leading to pretty much abandoning the three teenagers to their own care. The kids are amazingly good kids, the other parent cannot be involved, an arsshole that physically beat one of them, so no contact, besides that was the shared drug use in the past. There does not seem to be much I can do, but it is making me batchit crazy.

For all who need a kick up the butt!

@Ed_NW does your son qualify for medicaid? Medicaid pays for bariatric surgery. Is he married? If not doesn't the ACA allow him to be on your insurance until age 26? Can he move to a nearby state that mandates insurance cover bariatrics? He is young enough to recover from moving/ changing jobs after he gets surgery to do everything possible to get surgery. Good luck to you both.

Is too fast good or bad?

You are doing great. Ride the high wave. Just keep in mind that it will not always go this fast and there might be a stall coming. The body will make some adjustments along the way, sometimes your shape will change or inches will disappear during a stall. It is different for everyone. Keep up the work with your team!

Who is sick of purees? Some fresh ideas...

    Hi, newbie here :-)

Welcome. Congrats. Poke around and read the various forum posts. Use the spy-glass search field if you have a certain topic. Especially look for 'dreaded 3 week stall' or about food stages.

    My journey so far....

Switching to semi-solids can cause the body to adjust, give it time. Just be cautious and follow the macros - protein grams and liquids. Sometimes constipation goes along with changing from liquids/soft to solids. Up the liquids to 100 oz if you can - and by that I mean half that as just water. There is the 'dreaded three week stall' that happens somewhere between 2 and 6 weeks out, it is just a reset so don't get worried. You are doing great. Weight loss is not linear and not constant.
  15. Sending you (((hugs))) and prayers, and the best surgical team possible. Thank you for sharing and being so very brave.

    Too much protein/Kidney stones

Push fluids, I would try ro hit 100 oz or more a day, and get your vitamins and minerals in.....
  17. Okay, time to do the dreaded prep... (you do realize the vodka is in there just for sarcasm) 😆
  18. Fluff, I'll see what I can do.....but won't be for awhile, maybe when I get around to plastics in San Antonio, we can do a meetup and I can bring a quilt....
  19. Fluff, that quilt is all mine!!!...lol for the master bedroom which is aqua.... I will post progress pics, and when I finish it.
  20. Ok, so trying to read all the posts, absorb the back n forth logic/info. I had to get outta the house cuz, you know 'no food day', so I got a pedicure and shoe shopped for the grandgirls at a Shopko Payless Bogo plus senior 15% discount. Yaaas!! Anywho, pic of quilt design but not in my colors...
  21. So...colonoscopy prep day..... Broth, tea, G2 (blech).... making my own veg broth right now More fabric cutting....

    help

Yes, reflux. It might take trying a different medication. Try sleeping propped up a little until it gets controlled, don't eat before bedtime.
  24. What is normal? Think about that for just a minute. We had this surgery to correct 'our normal', to assist us in choosing a better life - you ARE living life right, the one you need. It gets better, take a nap, then take a walk, don't watch commercial TV, don't drive by and smell the fast food. This excruciating phase of healing will pass and you will be amazed at enjoying those first ounces of real food, and progress into your 'new normal'. Embrace the process.

    Breakfast cereal

You subject yourself to criticism based on lamenting in previous posts about lack of weight loss. Gatorade is worthless unless you are running a marathon and need instant hydration or going for a colonoscopy prep, even then that junk is questionable. That amount of 225-325 grams of carbs amounts to 900-1300 calories, so I don't say liar I say bullchit. Plain old cow poop.
