  1. 'The connection between heightened concentrations of blood erythritol and the onset of weight gain/fat mass is not yet fully understood. It is uncertain if endogenous erythritol or exposure stemming from food leads to weight gain tied to erythritol.' Which means they see it, but don't know the actual connection, doesn't prove causation, just correlation.

    I didn't realize when I lost weight that _____

Ugh.. hard chairs hurt the bum. I can get closer to 'things' (use your imagination here). Space between me and the steering wheel, kitchen sink, etc seem ginormous. I stand up straighter, feel taller. Still can't judge my clothing size accurately yet.

    Anti Inflammatory after Sleeve?

I take the occasional ibuprofen and don't have any issues with the sleeve. In the literature it said not to take anything, after surgery the surgeon said it should be only taken when absolutely necessary to function. I was however not on any prescription level of anti-inflammatory medicine.
  4. You will be fine and everyone loses at a different rate, so don't get hung up on big numbers or get discouraged during stalls. Stalls are your body adjusting to the process.

    One month post op sadness!

Some people have more inflammation from the surgery and just need more time to heal. Relax, improvements will happen, this too shall pass. Try a warm liquid 15 minutes prior to eating - bone broth. Take slow, slow ingestion of everything and wait in between bites or sips of protein drinks. At this stage it is nearly impossible to get protein requirements in without liquid protein shakes, it is crucial for healing to get your protein in. ?applesauce? Not nutritionally important for our purposes, better off choosing high protein yogurts. Hang in there, it only seems like progress is slow because your focus is so tight in the beginning of this journey.
  6. Was not required a specific amount, but insurance said cannot gain weight during the 6 month pre-surgery process. (Some insurance will not approve surgery if you go below a certain bmi w/o comorbidities - that was 40 bmi for mine, so I made sure I did not lose below that before final approval. That was right before the 10 day 800 cal/day preop diet - on that I lost below the 40 bmi)

Calling all vets- where are you

Proud Grammy - sorry for this turn of events.. praying for the best care and outcome for you. Did you have renal function issues before?
  8. So what the heck is that thing!!!@FluffyChix and exactly how are your feathers? Mine are still uber thin (translation still looks like horse poop) but some hairs are coming in, NOT fast enough to suit me of course! Thanks @GreenTealael for the offer but I can't do challenges, gives me too much anxiety..... I am struggling but trying. Fluffy, I admire your perseverance I swear I don't know how you can subsist on these long fasts.... I also worry how maintenance will look when you (we) get there. I already worry that 1200 cals a day will be forever and is that going to work long term???
  9. Just look up a bariatric surgeon or start with GP and get some xrays/mri. The band could very well be eroded or turned or scar tissue around it causing the actual restriction.
  10. Well, I am doing fine. No snacking, delaying bf about 3 hours and finding out it works for me. Cut carbs back most days around 24, the rest 30-50. Dr. Cywes really hit the ball out of the park for me it seems. He also said the reality is we cannot be perfect at this all the time, don't think of this journey as having a goal, THIS is the goal in essence. My occasionally (s) were more like frequently (s) of consuming the carbs. Can we just talk granddaughter's homemade strawberry cupcakes for her birthday here? LOL I baked them. Then I just thought about sugar nonstop - put down the cupcakes (drugs). I have had good restriction from the beginning, I just pretended (lying) I wasn't eating that many bad carbs. BUT those months might have been a glimpse at what maintenance looks like when I get there. At my age, it is unpredictable and since I have not been at a normal weight for over 42 years it will take some time to figure out. And from reading there are issues with weight gain 3-5 yrs out in many cases.... but at age 70 who knows what that will look like.
  11. Ok. I have been unaccountable lol..... I have been doing some thinking, and misbehaving and thinking about the misbehaving. I stumbled onto a website that has helped me with the psychological (psycho 😨) stuff that rolls around in your head that you are never enough, that no matter what you do, unless you are a star at it, you are a failure....hmmm All about THE GOAL, whatever the genre - in this case the ultimate wl goal. The website is https://www.whywesuffer.com THEN Fluffy sends out that podcast link from the bariatric surgeon, and his psych stuff ties right into the other one. Major epiphanies in head stuff and nutrition (thanks @FluffyChix) Plus I have been biting the bullet to get back to 3 squares and edging into keto this week.

    how do you find inspiration

It's a deeper issue than knowing how to stay motivated. The only way to lose it is to find the lifelong plan that works for you and follow it - that is the easy part. The hard part is that you hate yourself, and are self punishing. Somewhere in there you have committed to being that person, defining yourself in a negative way. I would guess that you have internal dialogues constantly running in your head keeping you stuck, berating yourself as a failure. I know this because I am working on this very issue myself. I found a great analyst online and about to order his books. The website is https://whywesuffer.com

    ❤ JANUARY 2019 CHALLENGE ❤

I did track every single freaking day, so I made that goal. I did not stay in my carb limit - 3 days yes, 3 days no!!! I am committed to tracking, now will add getting back to the gym. (I was all set to cancel my membership). You are all my inspiration! 😎😍 I want to get the rest of the weight off so I can get plastic surgery done.... I need to let that be my motivation. Weight is the same, be patient. Take notes, improve method.

    Leg cramps

Amazon.... @gaga26 Triple Calm is 3 magnesium salts that are more absorbable than typical magnesium found in most drugstores, esp after surgery. Plus the regular magnesium will give you diarrhea if you take too much.

    mousecat medical/dietary saga thread

Good luck and godspeed for recovery.

    Leg cramps

Fluids, more rest, stretching before bed, and Triple Calm Magnesium - 2 capsules, maybe a potassium too. And magnesium is okay before surgery. I cannot survive w/o my magnesium, I get cramps that make you want to saw your leg off, I get foot cramps, calf cramps, thigh cramps - sometimes in both legs at the same time.

    Psychological roller coaster

I agree, this is a whole bucket of emotions. I suggest journaling, get a new psychiatrist that has experience in bariatrics. First of all - you are still recovering from surgery, anesthetic and from lack of nutrition - the first few weeks I passed out a few times, try to keep fluids way up there, it takes work but it is very important, take a nap - it's okay. Soon you will be much better, and it won't seen so daunting. Good luck.
