  1. I have my vsg scheduled for Aug 31! Woohoo! Im a runner and have run multiple races under my belt(5k's , 10k's , 60 Halfs, and a full). I've lost 90's on my own but stalled greatly after running NYC. So I have opted to go gastric sleeve to help me along the rest of my journey. Anyway, my question is I have signed up for the Glass Slipper Challenge at the end of February. I was told healing is 4 - 6 weeks before I can start running again. A: Do you all think I'll be ready for that task at hand? I think I will be sticking with the Jeff Galloway walk/run B: what do you all fuel with on long run days? I'm a hunny stinger gal currently. C: I used nuun for so long but because it's a carbonated I can no longer use! I have read to use carbs in your water? What do you guys use? TIA

I've done a few of their races and had a blast at each one so congrats on signing up and kicking some Disney assphalt! Ha! I have an appointment on the 8th for my follow up! They said I could walk for now. So I will ask his guidance at that time! Just to be on the safe side! Thanks for you info! Hopefully I'll see you out there running!!!

    Any August 2017 Sleevers?

I had my surgery on Thursday and Im currently down 20lbs from 1 week out till now. My surgery was interesting to say the least. I don't do well coming out of anesthesiology and I told them that from the beginning I am a cheap date that its effects take a while for me to come out of. And that was just the case. The Surgery went well the after was a little bit interesting. First the took my catheter out right after the surgery which if anyone knows someone that has the effects like I do you should keep it in making sure the person can urinate on their own. Well another catheter had to be put in while in the waiting area. Nothing like having 2 nurses digging in your crotch to get a Foley in. It was to the point where I looked at the nurse and said, " welp there goes any chances of my lesbian side ever fully coming out!" to which she stated to crack her up. I was just happy to have al of 950CC's of urine coming out of my body and my blood pressure coming down. Then comes another fun part.. My Back WAS KILLING me in the bed that they had me in. To the point where i was on the brink of tears. Im like give me the good stuff cus right now this generic crap isnt working. so they finally gave me some good stuff and I was fine.. I was like where the hell did you all get these beds? They were horrible! they finally moved me to my room. where the room was hot, Dry, and annoying because it was right besides the nursing station so every buzzer that went off we heard. my roommate was sweet and nice and funny as all hell... But To be honest I couldn't wait to be out of there. at one point I caught myself saying Why the F did I do this... Really I could've just kept running and meal planned better and just got back on the right track... and before I even went in I contemplated on running out the door and not even doing the surgery. But now I am here 2 days almost 3 days out and Im healing up just fine and managing. I am a little sore still but that is to be expected but I can get up and about and do a lot of things that I thought I wouldn't be able. too. I slept a lot the first day back and today for the most part Ive been up and about except I did take a nap. now which I am regretting cus I could be sleeping. lol Still giving this time to all sink in but I am happy at this moment with my decision even with all the issues that surrounded it.

Yup, my surgical nurse said it would be fine! My anesthesiologist said because of the location of my two newer ones that it would be fine! But as a just in case I have extra retainers! 😊

    Nose piercing and surgery

I work in The medical field and it really depends on the doctor! I have 1/2 plugs ( which will be taken out),a Rook, a forward Helix, a daith, and a nostril. I can put retainers in the nose and the daith. Which retainers will not effect anything and don't cause an issue. I'm not sure who gave an above poster that information. The main concern is while transferring you from operating table to your bed the chance of it snagging. You also need to think of swelling ( rings ), and the loss of jewelry. The other issue some have thought is the Bovie machine ( most modern OR's use) throwing current causing alternate current causing random Burn sites. This is because of the older system they used to use. But there has never been any such cases with the newer systems! If you have worked in an ED A lot of the times you don't have time to go **** they have an earring in! They stay in and the patient well being is taken care over that regardless. To sum it up talk to the dr who will be preforming or the Surgical nurse they will let you know! Mine told me to to worry about my earrings! Just take out what I could and leave he two newer ones alone and that's what I will be doing! Hope this helps

    Any August 2017 Sleevers?

My surgery is set for the VERY end of August, the 31st to be exact! Believe it or not, I am not nervous at all.. I have put my wallet in Jail so I can't buy any clothes I booked my vacation for the week before so I can be relaxed and ready to go. Im super EXCITED to get this done and start my new journey. Still trying to lay out the logistics of how to fuel when I run. But I sure I will figure it all out as the time goes on! But any information will help. Good luck to all those starting their journey this month.
