    Struggling with post op diet!

ARe you supposed to get the same protein as I am? 60g and 64 oz of fluid?? I don't see how people do it!
  2. My surgery was last Tuesday (6 days ago). I'm still on stage 3 (water, bean Soups, yogurt, and Protein shakes). At this point I'm still unable to eat more than 3-4 bites of anything without getting the chest pain as if I'm eating fast, but I know I'm not. It's becoming impossible to get the required 60g Of protein and 64 oz of water/fluids. The only way is to have 2 ENTIRE shakes (I can drink 1/4 and it takes me 45 mins) and work on Water ALL day! Ugggh. Seems like a full time job and im failing big time. Any suggestions?? Please tell me this doesn't last long🙁

    Nervous and Afraid

My surgery was on Tuesday. I won't sugar coat the experience. It was very very difficult. I was NOT expecting it to be this rough. I woke up in tremendous pain and nauseated. The meds didn't seem strong enough, nor were they given within a reasonable time to avoid the pain before it started. That being said, we all heal differently, and every Dr is different. I had regrets the first 2 days (I read a lot of people did) but now that it's getting easier day by day...I KNOW I made the right choice. The liquid diet isn't easy, but manageable like someone else had commented... stay busy! The weight coming off is a bonus too. You have, I'm sure, gone through lots of testing to get this far (cardiology, endoscopy, sleep study, mental evaluation, blood work) don't let it be for nothing. Press on...you deserve health and happiness! Here's to the new us 🥂

    Sleeved in 7 hours

I'm now 4 days post op. It's getting easier THANK GOD!!! I wasn't quite ready to leave the hospital but I figured if the Dr thought I was, I was. Pain is most intense in the morning. At first I thought it was the incision sites but its lower so I'm guessing it's actually my stomach!! Anyhow, I was given liquid norcos and as little as I'm trying to use it, there's only enough for maybe 2 more doses and I have 0 refills. Hoping the pain subsides! It's hard to get the 60 grams of protein. I drink a shake in the am (27 g) and a 1/3 of a yogurt (3 g) about an hour later, and a shake in the pm..still not meeting the goal but I just don't want to eat (drink) anything right now. Doing well with water though. Walking daily, a few times a day to just get up and moving. Still no poop in 3 days now, any suggestions? I've tried a suppository. I'm on colace but there's nothing TO SOFTEN so that's not working either. Looking forward to progressing with the diet and creating healthy meals that will benefit my whole family!

    Sleeved in 7 hours

It done (at 7am)! I'm relieved it's over but I have to say that I feel a truck ran me over!!! This is absolutely terrible. I would rather give birth...twice! I've been reading this forum on the recovery and what to expect for weeks now, and I never read ONCE anyone feeling like this. I think I'm a strong person, and can handle pain well...but THIS is too much. I know we all heal differently but there's no way NOBODY has felt that way. Maybe this won't post as it may change the mind of someone, idk. I still don't regret it, but wish I would have been prepared for this! So, everything was smooth, very kind staff, promptly admitted and given the IV, met with the Dr. and anesthesiologist and wheeled in. Then the "shit hit the fan"! I woke up in tremendous pain, moaning for help. I was given dilaudid which wasn't strong enough but my options were limited. Because of the gas, I felt like I was going to explode! They had put a catheter in while in bed OR (thank you!!) but yet I felt like I had to Pee so bad but yet had no control of that. That might have been the pressure of the gas. Then... the nausea hit me like a ton of bricks. O-M-G!!!!!!!! It was the worse felling ever to not be able to throw up for 2 reasons . 1) I had nothing TO throw up. 2.)the pain of the gagging and dry heaving felt like I was going pop off some staples inside! Now...it's almost 930pm, I haven't had water since 7 pm last night and wont able to either until they do the swallow test to ensure there's no leaks. If anyone, please...ANYONE send me some encouraging words of advice...it would be greatly appreciated😩
  7. My surgery is scheduled for 5:30AM (I'm in Napa California). I'm nervous and scared but mostly excited. I'm also what I feel like starving! Day 13 on the liquid diet....ugggh. This has been tough!!! I almost chewed food yesterday and just spit it out because I wanted to taste it!! I'm terrible ! (I didn't do it fyi). Anyhow, this is just the beginning, and I'm looking forward to my future.

    Confused

I ask myself, the people who say they are ready for the "lifestyle change" , why can't you just eat less WITHOUT surgery?? That's what it boils down to correct? You will Permanently eat less so if your committed and ready, why not do it for yourself? I battle with this constantly within my own mind

    Confused

I'm scheduled in 8 days and still try to make excuses to cancel. I tell myself I can do this without surgery...when the reality is, I've tried that and failed many times. A lot of the second guessing I believe comes from feeling hungry after day 5 of 14 of the liquid diet, I feel so hungry and crave food so badly. My point is that I've come so far for this , this is the tough part of the process but I believe there's light at the end of this temporary tunnel. At some point I'll still be able to enjoy food, but in very small portions which gives me something to look forward to.

    Cheaping on Pre-op diet

I myself, am on day 5 of a fusion shake diet that I need to do up until my surgery date of march 14. It's TOUGH!!! All I can have are the shakes 3 times a day, Water, sf Jello, broth or g2 Gatorade. I crave food so badly! It's making me irritated and short tempered. Ugggh! I read somewhere on this forum someone say it's temporary...push through, I'm trying! I'm looking forward to having AN EGG, one EGG... in 3 weeks. It will be the first time I can have something to chew in a month! My point, keep at it! It's hard but you can do it!
