September 2017 Gastric Sleeve Surgery!

How's it going with pre op diet? You're almost there! -
Has anyone here gotten a TT without getting muscle repair? Is it always required? My feelings are that with working out, I could really strengthen my ab muscles on my own. Not getting that portion done would reduce the cost of the procedure and recovery time. Any thoughts?

Seeing Doctor Before Approval?
jacinthapittman replied to Deleted Account's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This was my timeline: July 6th final appt with pcp July 26th consult with surgeon July 28th submitted to insurance for approval August 11th approved August 14 scheduled for September 21 surgery Mind you, my pcp suggested I start my preop diet soon after I saw her beginning of July. So I've been on and off liquids for 6 weeks not having any clue when my surgery would be. My surgeon office would not even give me an indication as to how far out he was booking. My boss was ready to strangle me because I had to hire and train someone to work for me while I'm off. -
Have you started preparing for surgery?
jacinthapittman replied to Karikatur's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had my final weigh in with my pcp on 7/5 and started liquid pre op diet shortly thereafter. Well between slowing scheduling at the surgeons office and insurance approval my date is set for 9/21. [emoji35][emoji35] So I'm kinda in a pissy mind frame right now. I want to eat everything under the sun because I've basically been starving myself for nothing for weeks. -

Surgery Scheduled for July, Anyone else?
jacinthapittman replied to surviving5's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Looks like I won't be joining you all this month. Had my final weigh in and labs with my pcp on July 6. Can't get in for pre op appointment with surgeon until July 26. Then we wait for insurance. I also hear that my surgeon only has a few more dates left in August for surgeries. I am crushed. I am going on a 8 day cruise in October for my husbands 40th birthday and I wanted to be further along in the healing process. -

Anyone have McLaren Medicaid in Michigan?
jacinthapittman replied to brasmu02's topic in Insurance & Financing
I know this is an older thread but I just wanted to know how it went with you? I have Mclaren and I'm about to go to my 6th supervised appointment and then I'll be done. How long did it take for your approval? -

Surgery Scheduled for July, Anyone else?
jacinthapittman replied to surviving5's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was at 41 BMI on my first doctors visit and do not want to chance dropping below 40, so I have basically been maintaining. It was asked of me to only lose 1 lb per month just to show compliance and that is what I have been doing. I have 5 more weeks to go (2 doctor visits) and then I will begin to really modify my eating habits and incorporating more exercise. For now, the only thing that I have been trying to get religious about is getting in my fluids and taking vitamins everyday, as this is something I have never done before. -

As long as you don't end the 6 months heavier than you started. -

2 more weigh ins (6/1 and 7/1) and EGD hopefully early June and I'll be done! Now as long as insurance doesn't drag their feet 🙃 -
Did anyone dip under a BMI of 40 during their pre op diet?
jacinthapittman replied to MSinger's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow really?? The BMI is an insurance requirement but I never heard of a surgeon, after insurance approval, refusing to perform because of it. -

They are, just remember protein first. You may not be able to consume all of your protein AND enough fruits and vegetables to meet your nutritional needs. -

I don't know that I would trust my WLS to perform cosmetic surgery on me. Two completely different specialties. -

I was originally scheduled for my pre op class on July 18th with surgery to follow but I just found out they have one scheduled for June 20th. Hopefully there will be at least 1 person cancel so I can attend and get done in July. -

Did anyone dip under a BMI of 40 during their pre op diet?
jacinthapittman replied to MSinger's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It depends on the insurance company if they approve based on initial weight. My doctor advised me to only lose 1 lb per month to avoid going below 40. However, you are beyond that point. Feel free to knock down weight while you are in the preop phase! -

No, once you're approved, you're approved.
