  1. Hi.

I just got banded on Friday, March 14th. It's Wednesday and I have been darn miserable. However, I found that a couple of glasses of wine goes down, eases the pain, the shock, etc.....how have you found drinking to work with the band? I can't eat anything so.......this helps take the place. I drink protein all day but at night, I've had enough and just want to relax. Help!

  2. Julie, I was banded on Friday, March 14th. I'm pretty miserable right now. I have had a glass of wine on both Saturday and Sunday - Is that acceptable? The dr. didn't mention anything other than staying on liquids. Obviously calories would be an issue but......I love having my one glass at night. Thanks for the offer to help.

    March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD

I love having a group that is going through what I am.....Misery loves company! I got banded on March 14th and have lost a total of 9 pounds since. My tummy is so puffy that it would appear that I'm "with child." I'm not very familiiar with using this site as I just started today. I had a bit of time because I wasn't quite ready to return to work. If you have some tips that you find handy on the site - I would love to hear them! My BMI is 32 Starting weight: 180- I'm only 5'3! Currently at 171 I look forward to hearing from all of you! S
  4. Hi everyone! I love all the info and support on this forum. I'm not sharing my surgery with many folks so......I need to have a place to go when I need info and in turn, hopefully provide help to others. The surgery was a breeze. The recovery stinks. The trapped gas is miserable. I will just be glad to feel......normal again. I didn't take off any time to recover and my body is feeling the pain. Anyone have any soothing ideas until the worst part is over? It will be over want it? Thanks for the support! Lovin' those liquids in Houston!

Banded 3 days ago by Dr. Speigal in Houston

I was also banded 3 days ago in Houston by Dr. Spivak. I weighed 180 and now I'm at 173. My tummy is so tight and miserable - How about yours?
  6. I just got my band and my bmi was only 32 - which is certainly obese however, most normal folks would diet and exercise to get the weight off. Well.....I'm not real disciplined and I love to eat. Here is how I decided and now I know it was the right decision. The band makes you adhear to the new lifestyle. I haven't been hungry since I got it and....for me...that's a miracle. I eat when I'm happy, sad, etc.....It will make you conform until you ultimately have made the changes and it's no big deal. Don't let what he said stop you. Get the band - and follow directions. I will work! I lost 10 lbs in the first 3 days.

    Price differences??

Hi. I live in Houston and chose a dr. here. Not because he was close by (although that's certainly a plus) I had done EXTENSIVE research on many dr.'s including some south of the border. I finally chose Dr. Spivak. He is a pioneer in the banding development and use. He has a 100% success rate - No deaths, major complications and.....he won't try to sell you on something you don't absolutely need. My BMI was 32 and he actually tried to discourage me from doing the procedure. The cost was $11k for the procedure and the fills are $150 each or as many as you will need for $1400. It wasn't cheap and insurance didn't pay for it. I financed it through a medical credit providor. I got 1 year interest free. Regardless - I'm only 5 days into it and I've lost 10 lbs already. Check out Dr. Spivak. He's top notch!
