    Post-op type 1s?

Hi Andi! I'm doing great! I have had lots of lows but not any really bad ones since surgery and my a1c has dropped 1 point to a 6.7. I will say when I do have a low they feel completely different then before so I have to be careful. I have also found when I do have a low below 65 I usually have to to a glucagon injection instead of food or drink because I feel do sick to drink. I have lost almost 50 pounds without working out. I have got to start working out!! How are you doing? I had my surgery on July 25th so I haven't been doing this for a really long time but if you have any questions I may be able to help. Also tell me more about yourself! How long have you been a type 1?
  2. You look amazing!!! What do people you know say when they see you? Aren't the compliments nice!? Sent from my Z981 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Proteinaholic by Dr Garth Davis

I also have CKD. I bounce between stage 3 and 4. I'm currently on a combined kidney and pancreas transplant list. I just had gastric sleeve surgery on the 25th. I haven't read this book yet but am ordering it now. My dietician at my doctor's office offers a low protein meal plan for people that have kidney disease. If you would like some information on it I would be happy to pass it along. Sent from my Z981 using BariatricPal mobile app
  4. I just had surgery on Tuesday and did not wean myself off of it and haven't had any problems. I didn't even think about it to be honest. I'm no longer taking it either. If you think you may have problems contact your doctor that prescribed it beforehand. You will have a lot of discomfort and you don't want to add something else to your plate. I have the exact same feeling! I'm a type 1 diabetic and also have gastroparesis so I just assumed it didn't agree with my stomach. Sent from my Z981 using BariatricPal mobile app

    No Special Pre-Op Diet?

My doctor told me I would be on a 3 day liquid diet. Most post I see are from people who are doing a 2 week pre-op liquid diet. I'm curious as to why the difference also... Sent from my Z981 using BariatricPal mobile app
  13. HealthChoice started approving weight loss surgery Jan. 1st 2017. The weight loss doctor's office called to verify I'm eligible with my weight, BMI, health issues due to obesity, etc and my doctor's office said I qualified. At that time began all the classes etc that insurance required. Now, after all of that and spending hundreds on all these classes and additional doctor's appointment insurance is saying it's not medically necessary due to my BMI being 34 and the fact I'm type 1 diabetic and not type 2. My doctor's office appealed the decision and after speaking with the doctor at HealthChoice my surgery shouldn't have been denied and they would approve it for sure. After talking to HealthChoice today I was told I was denied again!!!! I'm so frustrated I feel sick to my stomach. I need this surgery before I can have a life saving transplant and I can't believe this is happening after being told day one I qualified. Has anyone else been dealing with HealthChoice Oklahoma? Post-op type 1s?

I'm a type 1 (26 years) also currently waiting on a kidney and pancreas transplant wait list. I'm currently taking all of the classes etc to have the sleeve and I'm really scared about low blood sugars. I know I will have them and I currently have them at least once a day but I'm more scared about not being able to recover from one before I pass out. I have a history of passing out from lows. Are there any type 1's that would like to stay in touch and tell me more details about their lows, how they recovered etc? You don't have to worry about scaring me either. Thank you!! Malina
