I wouldn't. When I was at that phase I thought about it but the paper says not to. It's up to you. Just be smart. You don't wanna upset your pouch so early into recovery. That time is coming when you can eat everything. Just be safe. -

Where and when is Dr. Fitzer's support group? I need to go. I haven't been to one and I need to go badly. I think it'll be good to just be able to speak with people face to face about their journey. Thanks -

Yes indeed! You are so right! Dr. Fitz is amazing and super knowledgeable. I remember when i can my first consult with him. He was super straight to the point and no sense of humor at all. I remember thinking that I liked him because he we so into his work. He had an answer and explanation for every question that I had for him. He told it just the way it was and made you aware of what you were getting yourself into. The day of surgery he came into my pre-surgery from while i was getting prepped and he was sooooo aninmated and excited! That made me feel so much more comfortable because that let me know that he was exited about performing surgeries and super comfortable and confident in his abilities! I joked with him because that was a side of that I never seen while going through the program. With that being said, I went into the operating room super comfortable and confident. After surgery he put the fear of god in me about following the rules and not busting my pouch. Needless to say, he and i were on the same page when i left. lol Having my bypass on 12/18/17 was the best decision I have ever made. I never had any complications or pain after surgery. I actually drove home from the hospital when released. Don't tell him that, hahaha. Dr. Fitz's staff is absolute amazing. Super helpful and very nice. I could talk all day about them. I'm super happy for you and everyone that has taken a chance on surgery and choosing Dr. Fitzer and his staff. Sorry to write so much, but it felt good to be able to vent all of that because I haven't seen many people on these forums that have had Dr. Fitzer and his staff. It's nice to talk to people that share a lot of the same details from the beginning to the end with Dr. Fitzer. Good luck to yall!!! -

It all depends on your insurance company. I got my approval right away. It might would help to if you nagged the insurance company or have Heather stay on them to get a decision made. She is really good about getting stuff done. -

Congrats. I'm doing really well also. I still struggle because I can't tell if I'm eating too much or not enough. However, i'm dropping pretty good weight. The best decision that I've made. Im 12 weeks post op yesterday. I feel great. I just wanna keep the train moving. Congrats to you. Highestet weight- 492 First App- 475 Surgery weight- 444 Current weight- 366 6'4 -
Just be patient. It gets A LOT better, I promise. As your diet progresses, you'll be able to eat real food and you'll start to feel about everything. Plus, the foods that you see on commercials and billboards will not sound so appetizing once you see that those foods don't get down as they used to. It will push you away from it. Just trust the process and try to enjoy every moment. You'll be looking back on it and laugh about it. I'm 12 weeks post op and I feel amazing and can tolerate everything except too much sweets and greasy foods. Good luck to you.

Yes, Dr. Fitz is pretty awesome. He is very straight forward with his face-to-face meetings. He is very knowledgeable and can explain any situation. I was a little in question initially, but after meeting with him a few times, it was clear that he was my my surgeon. The funny part about it all is that he is very straight forward in his appointments, but the complete opposite before actual surgery. He came in my preop room just before my surgery and he was super energetic, made jokes, super smiley, and animated. That showed me that he was ready to rock-n-roll. He is very passionate about his profession. Hands down the best and I have NO REGRETS!!! He's real deal. You will have an awesome journey with him and his staff. They are all amazing. It WILL go well for your, trust me. Good luck to you. -

How long were you off work post-op?
SampTheChamp replied to tuckersmom's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I had surgery 12/18 and went back to work 1/2. I'm a Physical Education teacher so I took advantage of my 2 week Christmas break. After my 2 weeks for surgery and recovery I was definitely ready to return to work. My experience was a breeze. No issues at all. I hope you have a speedy recovery as well. It's really an easy process. The mental is the toughest part. If you have a great surgeon, they'll always put you in the best possible situation to be successful. Good luck to you. -

Not at all. Thanks for the kind words. I lost 24lbs in the first week. Afterwards 10 here, 10 there, 5 here, 5 there. It's amazing. I'm thinking finally at 8 weeks out I'm hitting a small stall. It should pass soon. It has been amazing. I just couldn't believe how easy this who process was. No nausea, no gas pain, only slight incision pains the first 2-3 days. I was ready to return to work in 2 weeks and I'm a PE Teacher. Dr. Fitz is awesome. Very direct and straight to the point. Very knowledgeable about his craft. He definitely helped my change my life and give me a second chance to be great in life. I'm so grateful and thankful for him. You'll do fine. You'll look back a few weeks out and be amazed with the journey are advocate for the surgery on these forums just like I do.
