Thank you! I'm in the hospital now

Hi All! I'm getting sleeved on Monday and would love to have a buddy. My stats: 33 yrs old, 5'6, HW: 255 CW: 227. I'm nervous about everything except the surgery itself! Thanks
-
I haven't been on a pre-op diet which I think is really weird. The only instructions I've been given is clear liquids the day before surgery and nothing after midnight. My appointment went really well! The bariatric nurse went through everything in detail, she was really funny and reassuring. I definitely agree, it's a whirlwind! How's your liquid diet going? I've never been on one but that'll be my reality next week!

That is pretty close! I just had my last appointment with the bariatric nurse today and she went through all the specifics of the surgery. Have you had to do a lot of prep?

Mine is the 17th too!!! I can't believe it's less than a week away!

Mine is July 17th. My Doc doesn't have me on any pre-op diet, just clear liquids the day before and nothing after midnight. Everyone I've talked to and read about all had pre-op diet requirements...wonder why I don't? I asked my Doc and they said there wasn't anything for me to do. I can't believe my surgery date is so close! I'm getting nervous!

I'm getting pretty nervous wondering if surgery is the right path for me. On one side, the program has helped me loose almost 25 lbs on my own bringing me down to 227.6 and I feel like I can keep going and loose the weight. On the other side, I've done this before, lost a lot of weight and put it right back on. The sleeve will help me regulate and keep it off. I've always struggled with feeding myself and I think I'm more nervous about the after care (adjusting eating habits and such). I'm going for my final pre-op appointment before my surgery on the 17th (my date got pushed back a week bc I messed up some meds). Just throwing this out there, thanks! -

Outpatient?? Cool!!! My surgeon isn't requiring me to be on a pre op diet either. I've been doing my own low carb deal and am down 21 pounds so that's probably why. I'm so excited to get another tool to help with my weight loss! Good luck to you! -

Thank you for your advice! I'll give that a shot! I'm going to stop telling people unless they ask, as well. It'll be hard for me because I have no secrets but The doubt/negativity is really bothering me. My surgeon hasn't given me a pre-op diet, which I find very strange. I have an appointment with the bariatric nurse five days before the surgery to go over specifics and get some lab work done. I've read a lot about pre-op procedures, I'm going to call the bariatric office on Monday to see what I should be doing (maybe I missed something in the literature?). I'm really excited right now! My mom if flying up from FL to stay with me, I get a ton of time off of work, and I'm on a road to a healthier happier me! I'm so ready to do this, I can't wait! -

My surgery is July 10th too! I just got the insurance approval on Friday! I'm excited but nervous about adjusting after the surgery. My biggest concerns are lack of energy and hair loss. I'm having problems with everyone I mention I'm having to surgery to (family and friends) all say 'I don't look like I need the surgery' which has turned into a HUGE source of frustration. I carry my weight well but I medically qualified with a BMI just over 40. That's morbidly obese! I've had such a hard time keeping weight off I've put my life on hold because of self esteem issues. I 'need' this surgery to get weight off but more importantly be a tool to keep it off! I don't know if anyone else is experiencing this and has any words of wisdom but I'd sure appreciate some ideas on how to deal. Thanks everyone! -
Hi Doris, Thanks for the reply! I powered up my fitness tracker and downloaded MyFitnessPal this morning. I think white flour and sugar are going to be especially difficult for me but we all do the best we can, right! Good luck on your journey and I will definitely keep you in the loop with anything new I learn. Thanks Jess

I'm also new! I'm at the beginning of my 6 mo program. I've gone for the info seminar, been weighed in, and I've been interviewed by the bariatric nurse. I'm waiting on the psychologist and nutritionist to call to schedule appointments. I'm excited/nervous about this whole process and I feel like I should be doing stuff now to prepare, I just have no idea where to begin! Any advice would be most welcome, thanks all! Any newbs in NH??
