Great News for people insured by Aetna
NeenBand replied to rroswelltx's topic in Insurance & Financing
Will they cover fills and things that arise? I'll be getting Aetna soon. -
Here is a question...even though they are supposed to take what the insurance paid them, will they be sneaky and try to collect more from him?? ALso, in what states is it against the law to do this?

Karen, please keep us updated on your results and your husbands.

Thankee Ladies! :-D I'm thrilled, you have no idea! I was so worried. This board is the best, it really pulled me through.

Stabbing, Burning Pain!!!! Help!!!!
NeenBand replied to Hailey's Mom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was banded March 13th and have only been on mushies for 3 days. I had some really bad pain too, you can check my thread here in the complications forum. There is a lot of good advice in there. Taking a PRESCRIPTION strength acid reducer really helped. But I was very sore and tight in there and although I also felt weak from liquids eating a pork chop woukld have sent me to the floor. It's so dense, even on solids it's tough and dense. So I think eating a pork chop was not the best choice. When I started on mushies my stomach was not ready for them, even though I was 3 weeks out. So I went back to soft , full liquids for a few days. Please listen to your band/stomach. She is an unforgiving mistress and our appetite, what got us in trouble in the first place, is not in control anymore, the band is, at least right after surgery it is. -
WHOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!! I'm feeling GREAT!!! No more pain, I'm eating mushies fine, drinking Water fine!! I turned this corner yesterday after slowing coming up the past 5 days from a really hard time as you know. The acid reducers and all the advice given in here in regards to how and what to eat and drink is what did it. I AM SO HAPPY.:clap2: The only downside is now 'm starting to get hungry!! How did that happen so quick??
-
You poor thing!! I think this will be easier than the first surgery due to the amount of time you need to be under, etc. But I know you still healing and to have to go under again stinks. Our thoughts are with you and I pray that God sends you the monies you need in some good way!

Hi Lianna! I had a good day yesterday. Acid was less. I was able to eat some refried Beans (1/2 cup) and 1/2 c mashed potato for dinner. I find as long as I drink super slow and no Water, but milk, etc it's getting better. I'm not getting enough liquids in doing this, so that is a concern. Things are looking up! :-) Thank you for checking in on me. *hugs*

I slipped, too - just got back from dr
NeenBand replied to shanna's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Shanna, I'm so sorry to hear that. And I really relate what you mean about surgery. I'm the same way and totally understand what your feeling about it. Let's hope this one is a breeze. Keep us updated. -
Thanks Dody! Yes, Water is warm, not cold. It just does not sit well in my stomach. ANd before banding, I was a gallon a day girl. I do hope every day gets better. :-) When is your surgery?
-
Well, I spoke too soon. I started having mushies yesterday and by evening I had horrible acid reflux and that pain again. UGH! So, I was on full liquids today agian. I still can't tolerate just Water. I tried (just now) about 1/4 of yogurt to see how that works because I'm starting to get hungry lately. I'm worried this acid will never go away and I won't be able to tolerate food or water.

That's a relief to hear! GERD is no joke, as Decarla and you found out.
-
Hi bubbame, actually I'm only 2 1/2 weeks post op, so I have no fill. I'm just really tight because my stomach and esophagus is not liking the band so far. (I'm guessing)
-
This is actually one of my major concerns. I had GERD pre-banding and was aware of the barrett's and cancer risk. I was hoping with weight loss, my GERD would get better. But since banding, it's been horrible. Also reading on the boards here about bandsters actually getting Barrett's is more than a little disconcerting. Being thin is not worth cancer. If the reflux does not get better as the weight comes off I will have to make some hard decisions.I just hope it won't be "a day late and a dollar short".

Just want to update you on how I'm doing. THANK GOD (and you people in this thread) that I am feeling much better. Yesterday I was able to actually EAT MUSHIES! I had a little more than 1/2 c of pureed tofu with spices. I also took a 33 ounce sports bottle and in indelable black marker marked off 1/4 c increments. I would sip to the line and stop, so my stomach could empty out. I did this all day. I am also drinking aloe 3 times a day and the protonix and tums. Now here is the weird part. I drank a protien drink all day. Then, at the latter part of the evening, sipped on Water to test what worked and got those aches again. How weird is that? Why would water, the most simple and basic thing give me a problem but protien drink no?? ANyway, bless each and every one of you for coming in here for your support. Desertmom, thank you. And a HUGE hug goes to mybestme, she's been my lifeline. I would not have gotten to this point without her help. The above icon is supposed to be a huge, although it looks more like a zombie.

I actually used to get those shoulder pains BEFORE banding. I have GERD and gastritis, and when I was going through a bad gastritis attack, I'd get pain in my left shoulder. So to me, it's a signal that my stomach is having a problem. My chiropractor said the left shoulder is stomach and the right is gallbladder. The two weeks after surgery though, the shoulder was the worst pain, not the incisions.

Best of luck to you! You'll soon find out that the surgery really isn't the biggest deal. When you come home just rest-rest-rest, drink fluids and come here for questions and support. See you on the other side!

Please help me find a decent low fat butter...
NeenBand replied to Iziksmom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I think Smart Balance is the best. It has the best taste and texture out of all of them, plus has NO trans fats and also helps lower cholestral. They have one with added flax and an organic one as well. Good stuff. -
Will do! :-)

Wow, Alexra!! Beautiful picture! Way to go.

Wow desertmom, that sounds like a struggle, even though you have found a way around it. Hats of to you for doing what you have been doing. I had this surgery not to lose weight, but to keep it off I can always lose weight, but it's the keeping it off that never works, because hunger wins out. Always. I also had it to feel like a "normal person". SO I hate to think when I lose the weight the band comes out for me. It may have to. But it kind of defeats the purpose of it, for me. And also defeats being, and eating like "normal people do". :-(
-
Good morning Kathy!:clap2: hmmm...okie dokie. I'll try drinking that stuff today and see if it makes a difference. If you asked me today if I'd do this all over again, I'd say no. But hopefully these issues will resolve and I can say "yes, I would".
-
Thanks to both Dody and Desertmom. Desert, a question for you. If Water is an issue (and it seems to be wth me too) how do you get all your liquids in? Do you drink something else? Yesterday,I only got in about 45 ounces of water and feel terrible today. Urin is yellow, etc.
-
Thank you Lianna. I know many people did not know what to tell me, but I thank you for your support. :-) Thebestme has been through this, so thank god I was able to get advice! The tips and support here are invaluable, more than what you get from doctors! I'll be able to do the same for someone else who might go through the same problem. I just hope I'm truly coming out of the woods.

Is your stomach back to normal DeCarla or is it taking a while?
