Low BMI sleevers... results?
TX2017Sleever replied to NightPilgrim's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi, my BMI was about the same as yours SW -189 Height 5'7ish. My surgery was 4/11th. I am now 159 and have been stuck here for about 10 days. My goal is 135 so I still have a ways to go and at this rate it will take me a while. My fear is that I will get stuck and not lose anymore. I can not do high intensity cardio because I do not have enough energy. I still have a lot of hunger but the restriction helps with how much I eat at one setting. Good luck to you! -

Hi Jesse, I was able to start on full liquids yesterday afternoon. I had grits last night and oatmeal this am. I was only able to eat about 1/2 a package of each, but boy did it help!! I am going to have instant (extra runny) mashed potatoes for lunch. I hope you are doing better. Now that I am able to intro more substance, I feel better. -

Well, I'm 6 day post op and I only thought I knew what hunger was. I feel like I am starving myself and it is miserable. The pain from the surgery is almost non existent so that is a positive. The day after surgery was brutal from the pain and I could not tolerate the liquid pain medicine so it was really bad. Again, fortunately the pin went away. Just left with some huge bruises and cuts on my tummy. I can drink water and my protein shakes and any clear liquids, but they do not take the edge off at all from the hunger. I had only read that people did not want food after the surgery, but that is all I can think of. I am irritable around my family because I feel the exact same as before the surgery except that I am starving. I have my 1 week check in with the doctor tomorrow so I will bring this to his attention and hope to hear what I can do to control my uncontrollable appetite. Does the hunger go away?? -

Over 10 pounds!! I am so excited for you, I really am! I can not wait to see you at 20. I took notes on everything you suggested. I haven't been able to find the Gas X strips so I will look at CVS and Walgreens until I do. What vitamins did you purchase and when does he say to start them. I have spoke to the staff of Dr. B over the phone a lot and look forward to meeting him and them on Monday. -

Hi MelissaH74, How are you feeling? It has only been a few days since your surgery and I see your weight tracker is down a few pounds. Way to go!! I have 4 days until my surgery with Dr. Borland. Do you have any tips for me? Anything that I should ask about that maybe I would not have thought of? What kind of broth do you drank after? I am so excited to hear from you! -
How are you? I am about 10 days out and so very ready to get this done. Did you buy any of the starter / sample kits from bariatric pal? We are driving about 6 1/2 hours one week from tomorrow to have the surgery and stay in the hotel room for two nights. How soon did you feel like you could do things? I was wondering about hair appointments, kids birthday parties, etc.?

Under 180Lbs And Getting Sleeved, Anyone Else?

Well, I was 180 before I set my surgery date of 4/11. I am now up to 188. My surgeon (cash pay) does not require a pre op diet. I am so ready to get this done! Has anyone else gained a few pounds before their surgery? My BMI was borderline so I am ok with going up a few pounds. I actually just ate normal for the past few weeks with no severe restricted diet that I have lived on my entire life. -
Lightweights in the house! Any more people with less to lose/less BMI's?
TX2017Sleever replied to MumtazG38's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
We are getting sleeved on the same date!! I have an almost 4 year old, do you worry about your baby wanting you to pick her/him up? I don't believe we can lift over 10 pounds for at least 4-6 weeks. My big boy still likes for me to pick him up. I thought about going to Mexico, but found Dr. Borland that is pretty close to my home. Have you purchased anything for when you return home? I need to make a list, but it should be straight forward for the first week home - broth , broth and more broth.. Let's stay in touch!! -

MelissaH74, best of luck to you! You are so close. I had all of my preop testing done yesterday and today. Are you traveling to New Iberia? I am more looking forward to my date, now!! I am about to book my hotel room. Stay in touch!! -

lowbmi65 - How are you doing? I have a few more weeks to go. I do not have a pre op diet so I am eating a lot of last meals. I am around 190 and hope to lose 55 pounds. I can not wait, but scared at the same time!! Any tips on what to stock my house with? I have to travel a few states away to have my surgery. Will I be able to play with my little ones after surgery or will I be laid up for a few weeks? -
Pre Op Test when your surgery is not local EKG
TX2017Sleever posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello, I'm traveling out of my state to have gastric sleeve surgery next month. I was wondering if others have been in my situation of getting Pre op testing (CBC,CMP, H Pylori, EPA and Lateral Chest and EKG) testing in your current area because you were traveling for your surgery. I have found places to do everything except the EKG. I am cash pay and the price at the hospital is thousands. Does anyone have any suggestions? -
mmmk, how exciting that you are one week out. I wish my surgery was sooner than April 11th. Do you feel prepared? I do not have to do a preop diet, just 1 day before surgery he wants me to have Clear liquids. I keep reading that the week after can be hard, but I hope to hear from you that all goes great. Did you stock up on stuff you will need the week after? I have to drive 6 1/2 hours for my surgery and my husband is going with me. Good luck!

Hi Erica, how long has it been since your surgery? I know people will judge me for doing this, but no one knows the struggle I have been through. I sure hope you get to where your goal is. -
Hi, have you had your surgery? My BMI is right at 30 and my date is 04/11/17! I can not wait. It has always been hard or impossible for me to stay at a healthy weight! I can not wait to hear how you are doing.

Hi Wareaglex5, we may be similar in BMI and why we are getting the sleeve done. My consult was done over the phone. I am cash pay, traveling about 6 1/2 hours to Louisiana to have my surgery with Dr. Borland. There are a lot or pre op test that I have to get done where I live and then have the results faxed to his office within 30 days of my surgery, which is scheduled for April 11th. I am very nervous and excited. Like so many others on the board, I have struggled with the yo-yo. A deciding factor for me, was to hear my 70 year old mother constantly talk about her weight and how much she would like to have the WLS. I am almost 40 and do not want to wait any longer. I would like to permanently lose 55 pounds.
