Did great in the hospital. Had my shake no problem. Came home and ate a shake and pop cycle and spent the rest of Mother's Day vomiting. I was able to stop and sleep Monday and checked in with my surgeon Monday. I was better. I'm still better today just having some pain on my left side. Like gas pain but I haven't taken any pain meds today. My husband is having bypas tomorrow and I wanted to be there for him but I'm not sure I'm up to it. Where was everyone at this point?

So excited that I've finally gotten scheduled for surgery may 12! I can't believe it. I was getting so discouraged because it had take so long! Now I'm trying to decide what to say at work. I'm getting surgery.. just leave it at that...? Really it's no ones business but being a nurse I worry they will try to ask me to put surgery off... they've not done that to anyone else though. I should be good since I have enough PTO

Low BMI sleevers... results?
wareaglex5 replied to NightPilgrim's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Feel like things are moving slowly. Waiting on my sleep study results and can't get into a gi doc for an endoscopy till may. In the meantime I'm miserable at this weight. And sitting around...starting to think about sleeve vs bypass. I'm determined to have this surgery but now I'm wondering if the bypass is going to leave massive amounts of loose skin... trying to weigh the pros and cons. The doc wants me t think about bypass because I have heartburn.... but would I even have it if I wasn't so overweight? -
I'm waiting on insurance. I've only got one co morbidity with a BMI of 35 so it's iffy. I have a sleep study in two weeks that is supposed to put me over the edge. But what if I don't have sleep apnea?... my husband says that's not going to happen... I have it bad... lol. I also am having an egd because of symptoms of gurd ... have nodules on my tonsils from all the reflux... found that out when I went to ent for horse voice x2 months... sooooo.... I'm hoping enough is wrong with me but no guarantees

angry and betrayed

I understood how you'd be angry when you had the gold standard yanked from your grasp. Ouch. I wish I had the perfect advice but I don't. Not even close. Do you have any other weight loss surgeons they might be able to give you a second opinion. If so it might not hurt... just a thought... I'm so sorry... wow I'd be pissed too -

Brightfeather. Wow. Okay that is a lot. I am at the beginning of my journey and so I can't even give any advice about that but as a psych nurse let me say that yea... you have a lot going on there. I'm so sorry your going through all of this I might have missed it in the story but why are you set on bypass? Just a question. It seems you have a lot of health, emotional, and financial challenges going on... having to slow down... to process the loss of your fertility... allow your hormones to stabilize.. and get through the financial difficulties from the time off from surgery might not be what you wanted but it might be better for you in the long run... Just from reading other people's journey it's a major mental shift after surgery and lifelong lifestyle adjustment... I mean if you found a surgeon that would do the surgery right now are you thinking you'd want to put yourself through the additional major lifestyle and mental change on top of all the other stuff your going through?.... or would it be better to consider some time to get over this major hurdle you just went over and work toward getting healthy? I'm just asking. Again... wow... I'm so sorry you are going through this... does your work provide for employee assistance program where you could get some free counseling to help you process your feelings about what you've just been told... and in the meantime get over physically and get healthy again? -

Low BMI sleevers... results?

Well I'm a nurse at a hospital in Alabama and I work with about ten other nurses that have had wls. You are right when you say people will judge. One of my close coworkers had it and has yet to tell anyone. We know because of the way she eats now and the weight coming off so quickly after going to Mexico. I've just been honest about mine. I needed to gain some. I had one person be almost mad about it. My boss said your gonna gain weight and then not qualify anyway... lol... wow. Way to be supportive. I have experienced a lot of support though. I decided that even if it meant taking some heat I was going to talk about my experience. I'm having serious health issues. Everyone of my family is a diabetic but me and I'm headed that way and already have sleep apnea GURD and high blood pressure and cholesterol. I'm 51. I don't want to waist anymore of my life wishing to be thin and if I could do it by myself I wouldn't be overweight to begin with now would I? -

Hi all! I'm actually gaining a little bit to meet the 30 BMI requirement. I know that sounds crazy but I have struggled my entire life and this past year have started having health problems r/t my weight. High blood pressure and sleep apnea. I have my evaluation Thursday. What sort of physical did the doctors do? I am sure I'll be weighed but what else can I expect?.
