Ladies: have you noticed changes in your flow?
crocodoxie replied to Gabbee's topic in The Gals' Room
Mine are spot on. My GYN said they should hopefully get lighter as I lose weight...since they are so heavy usually. I can't wait for a lighter period! My tubes are tied (cough, and I'm 50), so can't help with other info. -
Glad it went well...while others use handhelds or rely on water stations, I was always such a drinker, I used a narrow Camelback and never once regretted having it! Congrats on a job well done and setting a time you were happy with. Love Disney races. OMG, my poor friends one time had a snow/ice storm freak storm during the Jan. races...nobody was prepared for that! I think they were doing the three-days in a row one..forget which that's called...Goofy/Dopey? Heat sucks..I overheat so easily.

Woot, it's coming up shortly. Can't wait to hear how you progress over time. It's such a fascinating journey we're on.

The months before, I was a calm as a cucumber. THe week before, my emotions were all over the place. It's a big step, and with big expectations, we are full of anxiety. Hang in there and know it will be here before you know it. Keep us posted after to let us know how you're doing.

Medication Absorption Question Post RNY (accidental cross-post)
crocodoxie replied to FluffyChix's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Wow, that's something I'd ask my doctor's office about. Not sure what to tell you. I have some meds that have to be spaced from vitamins and calcium, and it's like a game show trying to make all the pieces fit, but something of that nature, I'd want a professional's advice. Hope they have an answer that helps. -
Surgery in one week - so nervous!
crocodoxie replied to ReadySmi's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
One more week of sacrifice...just power through and know that when you finish that week, your surgery is going to come through! You're almost there! -
Gastric Bypass at 150lbs...An Unexpected Journey!
crocodoxie replied to chasingpolaris321's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hope everything went smoothly for you and you're feeling great. -
Sounds great. Where I found things started to change for me was when I started to eat more dense foods. I'm still able to get my fluids in, but sometimes I stay so full, I don't want to! So glad things are going smoothly.

How about some NSVs!?!?
crocodoxie replied to shyanne's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Will be so worth it! Hang in there. I was bummed, because so many get off it before leaving the hospital. It took me an extra couple weeks, but I got there. -
I'm not aware of your age, but I had a month long heavy period with peri-menopause...ended up with a D/C. Always best to check with your GYN if you feel something is off. Hope things level out for you soon. I have no info on IUD, so can't help in that aspect.

What Are Some Things You Can't Wait for POST OP?
crocodoxie replied to Denise73's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
Angie...I know what you're feeling. I kept saying that...what if I'm the one person it doesn't work for. I've been overweight for 30 years. I've run, worked with a trainer, ate clean, did WW, did NutriSystem, you know the drill...you are scared. It felt like the last shot...and what if THIS didn't work?? I have a big hug and good news. It does work. First, the amount of calories you're taking in -- you won't want more! And when you do, your belly will stop you. Early on, the liquid, you're like...but I can have this and it isn't super restrictive. I added more dense food lately, and believe you me, your body will stop you like a Mac truck hitting a bridge...giving you one of those, "if you take one more bite, you'll regret it" moments. Once you feel that sensation of it climbing in your sternum, you don't want that feeling again! You'll be like, yep....and before you know it, you look at the scale in disbelief, because somehow, someway, weight is coming off of your body. I'm always amazed that I can FUNCTION on the small bits of food I'm eating. I've been so used to LARGE portions, over-sized portions, it's understanding that a small portion will be enough and you still feel good. Very neat as things go. Sweetie, I still worry it won't work, and I've lost 46 pounds. How? Right? Fear of failing again is a pattern in your head, but everything is changing now. Take my hand, we're heading to the other side now...success. -
Glad you found something. I've been using Lane Bryant undies, and loved that I could buy them based on my pant size, rather than the traditional sizes of Hanes/Fruit of Loom, etc...I found a pair I liked and bought 14 of them! Guess, as I lose more, I'll need to start the search once again. Jotted down some of the ones mentioned above.

They found I had Barrett's. It didn't stop surgery. They did a biopsy of a small piece they removed. All was clear, but I have to go back in one year. If you're going for the sleeve (I wasn't, I was getting gastric bypass), then will most likely switch you to the bypass, but it looks like from your profile, you're already doing that. You should be fine.

Reminder: drink water before any lab work!
crocodoxie replied to karen_marie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah, as a diabetic, I'm used to fasting bloodwork. I just saw my endo, and he's going to run all my vitamin labs with my thyroid and A1C from now on! He goes, might as well keep an eye on those, too. I was thrilled it was his idea, and I won't have to overthink it. -
Post-op Appointment Success!

Trying on smaller sizes
crocodoxie replied to SIPS in Seattle's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have some mesh capris from Champion...and as I was walking around the grocery store, I had to keep pulling them up. I have them from size 1x to 3x, loved them for years. Anyway, just tried on the 2x, bagged up the 3x in the donation bag and away they went. SO when the 2x feel like they are falling down, I'll try the next. For me, I'm fascinated with the changes, so if i put something on and it's snug, I just tell myself, wow, when this other thing fits, imagine how it will feel! I'm going to let my clothes tell me when to adjust, I think. -

Laurileet, I was just taken off my insulin one month after surgery. Let's put your diabetes in remission! I look forward to having more choices...like bending over to paint my toenails or tie my shoes without being out of breath. I look forward to going frontwards/not up/twisted through a turnstile, and having more choice when it comes to clothing/shoes..i'm at a 10ww shoe, thank goodness for Easy Spirit for loving their extra wide feet girls. I'm looking forward to losing more of the aches/pains...knees and hips have gotten some early relief, and I'm happy to know there should be more as more weight falls off. I'm looking forward to having more energy and feeling better about myself overall. -
I haven't run in a while, but did three half marathons in the past. I used to like a combination of half G2/half water to hydrate, and I was a big drinker while I ran. Big girl, sweat a lot, ran slowly, but pushed to the end! For long distances, I kept either GU or ShotBlocks with me. Take in mind, it would take me twice as long to get to the finish line as faster people, so I may have needed more based on that. As a bigger girl/and diabetic, I found fueling more often than most others did helped keep me going. The more you train, the more you'll figure out what works for you. I tried what others mentioned, then found what felt best for me.

Surgery in one week - so nervous!
crocodoxie replied to ReadySmi's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Thinking surgery must be happening/or have happened. Hope everything is going smoothly for you. Sending a big hug your way. -
One of the things I am fascinated by, is how little I'm eating/and still FUNCTIONING. I'd expected to be exhausted at the lower calorie count, but guess what, my body still runs when I'm not having gazillions of calories. Hmm, imagine that! I'm trying to drill that into my head during this honeymoon phase.
