How long was hospital stay?
crocodoxie replied to Jackie 4641's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Was told 2 days, but was sent home after 1 since I was up moving around, having no problems and could keep fluids down. It surprised me, but I was fine! -

Post Surgery Tastebuds Changes: tell me yours
crocodoxie replied to GeTnBackuP's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For me, it's aftertaste where my issue has been these last 7 weeks. I'm much more aware of aftertaste...like with different waters, etc. My tastes haven't changed otherwise, but I do find that while I adore Greek Yogurt, sometimes just the thought of yogurt now makes me go NOPE. Maybe it's the thicker texture, not sure. Hope that passes soon, miss having it. -
Smooth Moves tea made a world of difference for me during these first 6 weeks after surgery. I'm good now, but if things back up, I'll have a cup of Smooth Moves tea once a week or so, in the morning....life is moving again. After trying everything else, I've found my answer!

Surgery date: October 17...Is 1 day in the hospital enough?
crocodoxie replied to GeTnBackuP's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I was booked for 2, but they sent me home a day early because I was up moving around, and didn't have problems with drinking liquid. I was nervous, but ended up being fine. -
Fabulous, and congrats! I'm taking mine Oct 1. I'm so happy to be on this journey, finally seeing results in my struggle with weight. You're doing great, keep going until you hit that goal!

Gastric Bypass and Diabetes

Hang in there. I'd heard most people were off meds before leaving the hospital. I was on 100 units of insulin prior to surgery. I was able to drop it to 20 units when leaving...but it took a full month to get off it completely. I am now off of it. I worried also, but it just took me a wee bit longer is all. What a joyful day that was to hear the news that I wouldn't need it. -

Non-Surgical Complication! Random Oddity.
crocodoxie posted a topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I healed beautifully from surgery. Two weeks out, feeling great...then it hit me. I have an intercostal muscle pull! Rib pain hurts!!! I have NO IDEA how it happened. It just went, BAM! Goes from my spine all the way around to my side. I went to the doctor, barely able to move. They sent me to the ER immediately to double-check it wasn't a lung puncture issue or blood clot, since I was hunched over in so much pain and so tender to the touch. After bloodwork, a CTscan and Xrays of my chest, I was cleared that yes, this was what I told them I thought it was! I appreciated their precaution either way. So, now I'm dealing with this. Getting over surgery was easier than this rib pull. My goodness, has this been kicking my rear! They say 3-6 weeks. Surgery only knocked me out for a week. I wasn't sure whether to laugh or cry, so I did both. -
Fabulous! Great job.

Wishing you both good luck on your surgeries!

Counting weight loss from pre-op vs. Post-op

I start from my high weight - the day I walked into their office, etc. I had a six month process, and thirty of these pounds came off during that time. -

I just had surgery in Aug, but my best friend had it about 18 months ago. The other day, we were on Skype and I was like...OMG, your collar bones! I never noticed them before...
