Surgery Scheduled for July, Anyone else?
crocodoxie replied to surviving5's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
We set a date and scheduled because having the tentative one gave me a date to tell docs/etc when I got the testing and stuff done. I know that if I don't have it Aug 1, it will be Aug 15. I'm grateful to know ahead of time. They also did some pre-qualifying stuff before I ever went in for the first appointment with the surgeon. Hopefully, everything goes smoothly when it comes time for my insurance to go through. My last appt is early July. -

Great job! Can't wait to see you continue your success. -
Yes, but for a different surgery! The anesthesiologist won't put you under if it's too high. It's a safety issue. I had to get back surgery last year, and had the same issue. I cried my eyes out. After 6 years of pain, I was almost there. I begged them not to cancel it, and I'd be exactly where they needed me to be. They kept it...(had to have my tailbone removed....long story)...They won't put you under at a certain point. Here's what we did. My endo switched me to Humulin 500 (was a pain to get my insurance, this is a very concentrated formula), but did wonders for me. I also went high protein, cut carbs to bare min....I was ready in no time. Then right before, i started in on an almost clear liquid...chicken broth, jello, etc...they were amazed at the turnaround, and I got my surgery as scheduled! It was an intense week. I did have my tailbone removed, and while they were in there, they found a second piece that had to come out. Two bones removed...and I was like a new woman. Now onto this surgery You can do this. You can do this. You can do this. (hugs)

Anyone have UHC insurance???
crocodoxie replied to MrzT2bsleeved's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have to do 6 months of appts prior...and there's a full list of tests and things to be done, but my insurance covers them if I stay in network. Out of pocket at this point is co-pays. Thankfully, my co-pay is zero on specialists. The biggest hurdle is your deductible, but since I've had other issues going on, we've just hit ours. -
I got my endoscopy results back...

Look at it as a chance to catch a problem before surgery. Sometimes it's just changing our perspective on things. Hang in there, and I'm glad they're taking care of this for you, so you don't have to think about it after. -
...or anything with blue food dyes can do that...ex: s/f grape kool-aid, etc

Fabulous - very inspiring.

I started in Feb. My insurance requires 6 months -- so doing all the testing between. I'm scheduled for August.

Fabulous!! Enjoy your skates -
I just got a quote for the Nutrition Direct. Mine would be $170 monthly...wish it was $25 for us! Anyway, think I'll be going elsewhere. They said the RX stays on file for up to a year if I change my mind. That's good to know.

PSA: Chicken Soup Protein Mix
crocodoxie replied to ChaosUnlimited's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I got a sample, so what I did was put a cup of water in the microwave and heated it up for about 45-1 min. I think took a meat thermometer to read the temp (trying to stay under the 140, but warm enough)...anyway, that gave me a guideline of how to make it without it being too hot. Once the water was at the temp -- I dumped the soup mix in and stirred. It worked fab. Hope this tip helps somebody else trying it for the first time. I think it was something like 120 degrees. -

I'm looking at early August. I'm in the process of getting things done during the 6 months required by my insurance and getting new habits lined up. I lost 5 pounds from appt 1 to appt 2, and I asked if there was an amount I need/should lose during this time. She said, a pound a week would be a good place to start. So far, so good!

Yeah! Great job.
