Canadians having surgery in Mexico

@Onepoundatatime I arrive the 22nd at 11am, so I'm pretty early, but it was the only direct flight from Calgary, but I figured better early to sit around in the hotel then in airports. How long have you been debating this surgery? I chickened out on the lapband 2 years ago and have since considered the sleeve, finally making my decision last month. I do feel good & confident about it though . Were your friends supportive? Or did they give you the " you can do it naturally speech"? -

@Onepoundatatime is anyone travelling with you? I bet I see you down there. Are you staying at the Marriott? im travelling alone, my husband needs to stay with the kids (I'm only telling him) -
Well it still does , percentage wise , a 50lb overweight person can't loose 25 pounds in a month , but a 100lb overweight person can. everyone I know with a BMI in the lower 30's lost their weight within 10months, and the 1months being very noticeable!

March 23rd I'm headed to Mexico alone, going to the OCC, I'm excited ,but not overly nervous, I've been researching for over a year & feel pretty confident! Only myself and my husband know, my kids don't know but they are younger. This is my 2nd chance, and I'm doing everything right!

Since losing weight have you been treaded differently?
Please replied to aking15's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't loose any sleep over it, lol. I feel like I look awful , but I've been with my husband over 20 years, he's always saying how great I look, although lately I complain about working ,my legs are always sore and I don't like swimming etc....he's okay with me doing it, as he knows I'm struggling with it. We've always been workers, when there's nothing to do we split wood or help neighbours.etc, unfortunately I always make Snacks and huge meals for everyone. I'll just feed them and take care of myself! -

I had an occasional friend who lost 100lbs but I didn't know her when she was big, I lost 30 lbs and she gained 30, putting us in the same weight range , she seemed upset, and she never spoke to me anymore. I thought it was crazy and my husband noticed her eyeing me up with a dirty look too....weird!!! Anyway, women never want other women to look good, I'm the fat one in my group and I wouldn't even tell my friends I'm having the sleeve, cause I know what they'd say... "Your not big enough".... They just don't want me to be their size deep down. -

Maybe you'll feel more Accomplished when you start some speed walking and working up a sweat a little . I really hope you do! , I bet you will! Can I ask a personal question, do you get bad gas with the sleeve, I heard it's terrible with the Lap band. -

I'm going to OCC in Mexico, next month for a Gastric Sleeve. The Doctor there was on Dr.Oz and other TV shows. I didn't go on that, but it drew me to the clinic in my research. I was going elsewhere until I found OCC, they charge about 2-3G's more, but I liked what I found out and a lot of people from Canada go there. -

Pros and Cons of Gastric Sleeve Surgery
Please replied to MelissaRose24's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've Honestly met 5 people who've had the Sleeve ( 2 friends) all them with 50-65lbs to loose. They all lost their weight within 8 -10 months, One had to get their gallbladder out, one already had there's out years previous. 1 has manageable GERD & the other 2 nothing. I know bad things can happen, but I know it is easier the less you have to loose. My 2 friends followed the diet to a T and chew their food like they were told and they never eat and drink together. For me , I watch them, their lives transformed, and I want that , I want to not hate the look of Me, so I'll take the risk as I'm not living fully now. I believe I will be successful, I've set my mind and will obey the rules. I've had my gallbladder out years ago. I'm ready and I'm looking forward to my new life of fitness and health. I hope your future is better and you find peace with the decision you made, try and be positive. Good luck! -
Pros and Cons of Gastric Sleeve Surgery
Please replied to MelissaRose24's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For sure I do, or I wouldn't be doing it. it doesn't really matter if your 50lbs or 150lbs overweight, we all feel the same way about ourselves, 50lbs is making me short of breath my knees are sore, I gave up skiing , I don't go swimming in front of people I know, as I don't want eyes on me. I have a friend smaller then me who had a sleeve 3 years ago, and she's out on a winter hike in Banff right now. Sometimes people who are severely overweight , have a "your not big enough attitude" but as with most things in life ,it's how you feel about yourself, & I'm choosing to nip it in the butt now, before I need a gastric sleeve & a duodenal Switch all while being heavier and making more concerns for surgery, and then loose skin surgery. -
Pros and Cons of Gastric Sleeve Surgery
Please replied to MelissaRose24's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've had a lot of people around me do it for the same weight, the balloon has really low success rates. The Sleeve has pretty good long term success with the lower weight loss needed. I've tried every diet, sometimes I loose 20lbs, then I gain it back in a month, after starving for a month....well everyone knows the cycle.
