  1. Canned clams, my go to breakfast. Low fat, high protein and high iron. I eat 1/2 a can mostly for breakfast, it fills me up and stays with me until lunch (with a small snack in between)
  2. Holy! Looking awesome!
  3. Awe, don't worry....a lot of hormones are stored in our fat & when we loose weight, we get a little over emotional. It's a big life change, but a positive one! Once your rested up and eating/drinking all the recommneded protein & fluids you'll feel better. Just think about what your regretting? Pigging out? Well that's what got you here in the 1st place, try and come to terms with the loss of food as a friend. Say hello to food as a healer, and choose well!

    Alcoholic Drinks

I have a few whiskey's and water with my friends on the weekends (1 shot in a big glass of water with orange slices)I Watch the carbs through the day, we are here to live!! live and have some fun along the way!
  5. I'm with you, I've known people that quit drinking cold turkey too (after years of abuse) they never seen a counsellor ....they aren't for everyone, and let's face it, we all know councillors that their own lives are a mess...lol
  6. I was at 209lbs the day of surgery, march 23,2017.... I weigh 188 lbs today. I'm 5'10". The weight seems to come off me in spurts, I feel exhausted for a few days then loose 3 pounds, then nothing for 7-10 days ...or more

    Regret

A lot of people feel like this the 1st week or 2. You'll be happy with your choice soon. It's just a stage, it'll pass....
  8. We can't always hear good things....if you eat a whole pizza and tell people, they are gonna be shocked, it doesn't mean they are judging...they are full of wonder....how it fit in your new stomach, why didn't you change your mind from ordering it to eating it ( lots of time to think) . You knew to hide the box....saying "it's okay or You got this" is BS , obviously she doesn't got this. It just makes other people think it's okay to do it too! no matter how much coucelling you do or therapy, it still comes down to what you want and you choices.

    I'm so tired!!!

I was 8 weeks before this stopped. It wasn't constant for me but would hit me like a brick. I was the type that couldn't nap or close my eyes in a crowd , but soon I found my self sleeping in a store parking lot in my car , I'd just get so sleepy. Or I had to pull over driving into town (1/2 hr drive). Getting better now. At 2 months post op.

    Tired of the comments

I never told anyone about my WLS , but my husband. I started out at 223, I'm still 189lbs when my friends say "you can't loose another 25lbs " I say ..."I can most certainly do what I want " and then I laugh...and they laugh too. I think people mean it 1/2 as a compliment and 1/2 jealously ...maybe something else mixed in too. I have 4 close friends, 1 never even commented yet (the skinny one) , 1 commented after my weight became the conversation( the biggest one now) , the other 2 complimented me soon as they seen me (they are snow birds so I didn't see them in 3 months). I was the biggest one, now I'm the 2nd smallest one, so group dynamics change, people don't always like it, but they'll get over it!
  11. Gas X strips don't help that kind of Gas. The gas is C02 from surgery. You need muscle to burn that off, walking , toe push ups (against the wall) Walk backwards. Etc etc.
  12. You know what to do....eat right!
  13. I went alone and was glad I did. I have an 8 & 9 year old, my husband stayed home with them. I binged watched Netflix and didn't have to worry about other people. All you really need is cozy PJ's (ones that button up (for your IV) lip balm , slippers, and your I pad and phone w/Charger. You'll end up meeting the other people getting the same stuff done, so your not really alone as bonds form fast. I would buy some electrolyte drinks to have in your room, the day your sent home, you might not feel like looking for drinks, although lots of people do. If your hotel makes you check out the day you go for surgery, they'll store you luggage, mine left me in my room. Pack light! Try only using a light carry on. good luck to you!
  14. That'll be okay, as long as the baby doesn't crawl all over you . I went alone, so it shouldn't matter if your friend is babbysitting. You'll be able to do everything for yourself. Have the permission from the child's father to cross with his child etc etc.
  15. I agree, we've fogotten what a normal weight is. I think some of it is fishing for compliments , when people say "I'm scared im getting too skinny" it takes 2 seconds to check your BMI, if your not below the recommended number, your not too skinny!
  16. I don't have any ill effects now ...I was sleeved March.23rd, 2017. I was very exhausted weeks 3-5 for some reason. No pain from surgery after the 2nd day. Just the tiredness , but it gets better everyday now.
  17. I ate some Oreo cookies , like 6 of the thin ones, and I didn't have painful cramps, but I did get diarrhea, and it made me feelnauseated, tired and played out. I was glad it did.

    Dizziness and Heart Rate

Can also be typical signs of dehydration.
  19. My BMI was 31 at the time of surgery, I had a TT after I had my kids and lost weight (6 years ago) so my stomach was still pretty good, so I won't "need" it. I wouldn't worry to much about scars if your BMI is 35, you'll likely need a TT (if your worried about the appearance of a few little scars, the loose skin will bother you more). I had my gall bladder out and had the same scars before, after 2 years they faded out and you could hardly tell, unless you looked for them.
  20. I was like that until 5 weeks post op. Went into a coma for 10 hours at night and an hour or 2 nap in the afternoon.
  21. I was sleeved March 23rd . I was 223 when I made my appointment , & lost 14 pounds during the pre-op. Since the surgery I lost 12 pounds , a little disappointing ...but I heard after 40 days things kick in! I don't have many issues with food, & protein ...everything taste the same as it used to, I usually eat a lot of steak, funny thing ..steak feels the best on my stomach. I find the fluids a little challenging every day, but I usually get them into me. No real pain since day 2. Things went well.
  22. I find the Vitaelph the best, not so much for taste, but they have so much protein , you can mix it with 3 oz's of water ... and you got 18g of protein , only 80 calories and low everything , It's made for WLS Patients.
  23. You don't need a companion to have surgery, I went alone.
  24. I got a direct flight home from mexico. I went alone, my husband stayed with the kids at home in Alberta. The flight is easy, we were all out shopping the day before we left Mexico. You tire out easier, so id try for a direct flight or at least 1 stop only. Everyone in our group felt fine we met in the hotel Lobby and chatted everyday. For all of us , it was pretty smooth sailing. I went to the OCC (obesity control centre) I met a lot of people who were sleeved already at the OCC And were coming as companions to their friends and family, none of them had issues either. The van picks you up at the Airport and drives you home, basically like a taxi. By the time I called for an appointment to getting my surgery was 3.5 weeks. I was sleeved March 23,2017.
  25. I called to book & they gave me a date immediately , for 3.5 weeks away. Then my deposit was made by pay pal right away, I took a certified cheque for the rest & just sent them a picture of it, so they knew I had it. Then the surgeon called me about 4 days after. The inial call to book.
