    Contempt

I might just tell that person to worry about themselves. Don't let anyone make you feel bad period. Yes, the surgery helps us all, but WE have to put the work in. And clearly, you have! I agree with Berry78. Own the fact that you had surgery, tell your relative that it did help you, and that your hard work along with it gave you an amazing outcome. Tell them how happy you are and how great you feel. Nothing drives sour people more crazy than hearing how happy and positive you are. Some people just like to be miserable...don't let them bring you down with them
  2. I also did the RNY due to Barrett's esophagus and GERD. I had my surgery 2 weeks ago and have lost about 20 lbs since the surgery. I have not vomited or dumped yet either. I have a couple of friends that had a sleeve to RNY conversion - so I just figured that the RNY was the way to go. My mother in law had the RNY 12 years ago and has maintained her weight well.
  3. I had my gastric bypass on 02/28/17. I feel pretty good all things considered. I'm returning to work tomorrow, 03/13/17. I have already lost 20 additional pounds since my surgery and I feel great. Sure, tracking my food is an added job, and the foods I can eat are so limited, but hey....who cares! I feel great!!! It all gets better from here, right?! You ladies keep strong and keep posting! Make plans for what things in life you will do now that you CAN do them. Keep a journal of your WLS victories. Remember this is a marathon and not a sprint. Soon (if not already) people will take notice of your weight loss and will tell you how good you look. That will fuel the rest of your weight loss journey

Sounds like you are doing well! Keep up the good work and keep listening to your body. Remember that this is a marathon and not a sprint, and don't waste a single day. Enjoy your new life!!!

    Losing Weight Pre-Op

Sorry for the late reply, I had my surgery on Feb 28th. Just got to checking my email. As far as what Adipex is, I'll paste a description from drugs.com... Adipex-P (phentermine) is a stimulant similar to an amphetamine. Phentermine is an appetite suppressant that affects the central nervous system. Adipex-P is used together with diet and exercise to treat obesity (overweight) in people with risk factors such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or diabetes. So, yes, I believe it is a sort of diet pill. It helped me meet my weight loss goal to qualify for surgery. I hope this helps

    Why did this happen?

I am not a doctor, but this is what my doc told me... You need protein and water to lose weight. Those two, when combined as food intake, force your body to use its' fat stores for energy. Your body doesn't want to lose weight. As a matter of fact, your body wants to GAIN weight. That is all it knows. It doesn't know when you are at a perfect weight. It just wants to avoid starvation. With that in mind, also realize that your body is undergoing severe changes right now. I personally wouldn't weight myself day to day because I know that these weight fluctuations, although normal, can be distressing. I would only concern myself with weekly or monthly goals right now. In order for your body to gain 2lbs you would have to consume 2lbs. You clearly did not. Do not worry about this right now. Focus on meeting your water and protein goals for each day. The weight will come off in time. We are all going thru the same thing. Keep your eye on the end result, not the day to day scale readings. Keep your protein and water intake going, the weight will come off. You will succeed! Hang in there and give it time!!!
  7. I'm glad I came across this thread! I was very worried that I would only be able to sip water for the rest of my life...lol....when I work hard I get thirsty and tend to take big drinks of water....I'd be miserable if I could only sip when I work.

    2 months today

Hang in there, the first year is the toughest from what I've heard in my local support group. You already lost quite a bit from what I read above, hang in there, I am certain it will keep getting better!
  9. Hang in there Faith. Try to go back to your bariatric eating roots...you CAN DO THIS! Find a new bariatric doc if going back to the original doc is what's stopping you. You need to see a doc and refocus your sights. My doc actually sent me to a psychiatrist to see about "what was eating me" that caused me to eat. I can say it was a great help because I gained insight into myself that I had not ever realized before. I will keep you in my prayers. Believe in yourself. You can do this!

    Losing Weight Pre-Op

My personal doctor prescribed Adipex to me to help me in my weight loss prior to surgery. I lost 50lbs in 4 months using it. I will say that you must also choose healthy foods, but the Adipex will suppress hunger and boost your metabolism.
