    Lost in the mail

Did you call bcbs or the surgeon's office? Mine was submitted yesterday and I am trying to be patient. Sent from my SM-N920T using BariatricPal mobile app
  4. I took Contrave. The dose is 2 pills twice daily but I only took 1 twice a day. It worked great, I had no side effects. I lost 30 pounds. It is very expensive though. My insurance didn't cover, with the manufacturer drug card it is $92 for a bottle of 120.
  5. The best thing to do is call yourself. Every plan is different. I had United and thought that I would be covered by my employer plan excluded bariatric surgery. Lots of self insured employers (BCBS etc just manage the claims) exclude bariatric surgery so you really have to check. Once you go to a surgeon they also verify your benefits but is quicker to call yourself. Sometimes there is a 6 month weight loss period and sometimes 3 months. You also want to know this up front.

    May 2017 Sleevers?

I think I will be May also. I have some pre-op stuff to do and my surgeon schedules out 1 month.
  8. I'm a nurse too! Pediatrics.
  9. I am getting sleeve also.

    The difference...

We are similar. I just had my last weight loss appointment but I still have to do the other pre-op stuff (EKG, CXR, UGI). I am a little over 250lbs now. I was going back and forth between vsg and sleeve also. My biggest hesitation with rny was the malabsorption and dependence on vitamins. I just saw my surgeon and she did say that she thought I was a good candidate for vsg due to my current weight/age. My hesitancy with vsg was the lack of data 5 years out comparing the two surgeries but my surgeon told me there is a new article published that had good data 5 years out and the rny and vsg are pretty close. So anyway, I am back with the sleeve decision. Don't you think it's odd that you make the choice. When I had my gallbladder out nobody asked me which way to perform the surgery. I just am not sure I should make the decision.
  12. I feel the same. 2 days ago I was convinced I didn't want to go through with it and now I am again happy to be close to the end of my 6 month visit. I think it is normal to second guess big decisions.
  13. I was worried about that also. I asked the NP at the surgeons office and she said it is really not possible to NOT lose any weight. I met with the surgeon yesterday, she said that you need to exercise or you are much less likely to be successful.
  14. Who is the surgeon? I haven't heard of that place. I am going to Banner University (Good Sam). It's kind of a far drive but I like the surgeon.
  15. Where are you guys having the surgery at?
  16. I need a buddy too! I am in Mesa.

    Insurance to Cash

Tricare is notorious for slow auth process. You should definitely wait and postpone if necessary. You are so close, don't pay for it yourself.
