Lost enough weight pre-op to cancel?
JustJulie replied to Cober1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You only needed to lose 60 pounds? No way in hell Would I have this surgery for that amount of weight. I thought you had to be at least 100 or more overweight to even qualify for it. I would cancel. -

Got my consult set up 4/4
-
I filled out my paperwork with the hospital on February 10 and I did my psych evaluation, got my letter from my PCP, and saw a therapist one time, saw a psychiatrist one time, who released me stating that I was ready for the surgery. All of this happened exactly in one month. When I go for my consultation I will get set up for pre-op testing and get my surgery date so it should be within the next month or so I believe that I will be having surgery. I have Medicare and a BMI of 79 so it is pretty easy with Medicare to get the surgery apparently. I am excited and scared and this is all happening so fast but I have wanted it for years and I know I need it so that I can live my life and be happy again.

Has anyone here had surgery who has Medicare? If so how long did you have to wait to get surgery once you were approved? All I had to do was have a psychology evaluation and fill out some paperwork and get my doctor to write a letter - The hospital said I am automatically approved but I am wondering how long will it be until I have surgery once that is submitted to Medicare. Has anyone gone through The process with Medicare before in this group and how did it go for you?

Well it's been a month since I applied with the hospital that I chose and today I got approved with Medicare for the surgery. My next step is to get a consultation with the surgeon so I'm really excited to see what happens from here. I have lost 30 pounds on my own since December and I am so ready for this!
-
I haven't been to a Nut class or seen the surgeon yet but I am trying to lose anyway. I've lost 28 pounds since first of December. Gained back 11(was on prednisone for a week) and now lost 4 more so total of 20 pound loss in a little over 2 months. I have slowed down on my sofa I take, started drinking more water- I made it to about 57 ounces yesterday- so I'm getting there. I assume the dr will want me to lose some weight before surgery - but just have no idea what to expect until I see him. Right now I'm waiting for my pcp to send in letter of recommendation and the hospital will then submit to my insurance. Then idk what to expect.... but I hope it doesn't take too long! I am so ready to get this surgery and lose this weight.
