Mia, That's great that you are feeling good. What a yucky day to have to go to Atlanta, tho. Glad to hear you are back safe and sound. I finally got the guts up to tell my dad about my surgery. He was a little freaked for a second or two, but when I told him what would happen and all about it, he got really excited for me. Tho we are very close, we're not much of an advice giving family, so he'd never told me how much he worried about my health. It makes me sad to think about him worrying about me, but I am very happy he is going to be supportive for the surgery. He wants he and my mom to come to the hospital that day - I don't know how I feel about that. I am a pretty private person (despite the fact that I post personal details of my life on a message board! haaha) He was so excited for me, in fact, that he said he was going to call my mom and tell her (she was not at home). Call me a coward, but I let him. That is one conversation I was not looking forward to having. He thought she would probably call me as soon as he told her, but that was 3+ hours ago. I am guessing she didn't take it well. Anyone else had their loved ones freak out on them about the surgery? It will really take some of the joy of this away if she can't be happy for me. -

I bought a bra/corset at Silver Lining, and it was perfect - held in my upper stomach and kept the girls in place. I still wore an girdle type garment as well for the lower stomach (I always said I knew I was really fat when I developed two stomachs). It worked really well and I had a real waist - of course that was six years ago. Time flies! I will do the search for the food lists. I also have all the materials they gave me at the assessment. I am sure I just need to look at that stuff more closely. Leslie, I will also send you my email - thanks for offering that! I am 3+ weeks out, but I usually need some time to work myself into a 'diet' when there are certain things I cannot eat, so I went ahead and started sugarbusters in an effort to be PERFECT on it the two weeks before surgery. I am worried they will get in there and not be able to do it. also, I have been reading other threads about complications, infections, etc. and generally freaking myself out today. I need to not do that! -

Mia, That is a help, thank you. I think this is residual WWatchers thinking - I don't know what to do if I don't have something to count! I have a list of fruits and veggies..... if you have a more complete list, do you have a link for that? As for your wedding plans, have you been to Silver Lining? My one request of my matron of honor was to find me a place where I could try on wedding stuff and not feel the judging eyes of size twos. She found Silver Lining near Buckhead and those women were wonderful. You probably already have the dress, etc., but even in they don't stock all the foundation garments you need, they can probably give you a good idea where to look. Might save you some time and frustration. -

Can anyone tell me what is an acceptable level of carbs when doing sugarbusters? I don't have any problem cutting out sugar so far as sweets are concerned, and I am currently eating almost no carbs, but that is very hard, so I am wondering how many carb grams might be acceptable while trying to shrink the ole liver.....thanks in advance, -

Hey Leslie, glad you are back. So sorry to hear you felt bad on vacation - that is a stinker! As for pre-op, I am NOT the one to ask. I feel like a stupid, stupid woman, but to keep a long story short, let's just say my preop visit hit a snafu - all due to me. So I have to go back to do the hospital part. But, as far as the office part was concerned, everyone was very nice. -

I would probably feel better about it if my husband was going w/ me, but he has to be out of town. I haven't told my parents yet (I know, need to get on that) so I will be on my own tomorrow. I know it will be fine, as I said in an earlier post, I just have an aversion to medical stuff (has something to do w/ judgement and that scale.....) By the way, Brina, you are so funny - I LOVE reading your posts. I used to make my living as a writer, and you have real talent for comedy. Thanks all for the encouraging words. I will post tomorrow and let you know how it goes! -

OKay, I am a big baby but I am getting nervous about my assessment appt. on Monday. For one, I assume there will be bloodwork and it always takes 4 or more sticks to find a vein in me. Also, I am afraid there will be some reason they tell me I am not a good candidate or something. And in general, I find medical appointments unpleasant. Words of reassurance welcome..... -

I'll be there at 2 p.m., getting my assessment. I am so excited!!!! Everyone I have dealt with at the office seems really nice. I think this is the only time in years I have been to the doctor and not felt judged. Leslie - fantastic that you have your date! please let me know all about it! -
Can you name 1, or 2 things you would love to do once you reach your goal?

I want to enjoy exercise again. I want to feel strong and in control of my body. I want to choose clothes because they look good, not because they fit. I want to have a baby. I want to walk without getting tired in 25 yards. I want to live my life, which I am NOT doing now. -

Hollybelles - That is a good idea about watching the surgery - I am all about being informed. However, I am pretty squeemish. It might freak me out so bad I chicken out! I am making my appt. for an assessment tomorrow. Timing may be an issue for me regarding recovery. How long after your surgery were you guys back up and going? I have a thing coming up w/ work which will require a couple of days of public speaking in a row, preceded by some pretty intense prep, and wonder if I need to schedule the surgery after that. Opinions? -

Hi all, I will be making my first appt. w/ Dr. Bagnato this week. I have been considering this surgery for over a year and finally got the courage to discuss with my husband, who is 100% supportive. I have been told by my insurance they will not pay under any circumstances, so assuming self pay, what is the procedure between initial consult and surgery? Thanks in advance!
