    Dr.Byrne MUSC

Hi, I had my date less than a month after psh. evaluation. I love my band and Dr. Byrne. I have lost about 40 pounds since June. It was the BEST thing I have ever done for myself. I was self pay so I am sure that help make things move alot faster.
  4. 23_34_3.gif ang456_ It's Francine again .

How are you doing I was reading a post from 6/17/08 that you were banded in June at MUSC by Dr. Bryne and I wanted to know how was your experience . How long was the process from application being turned in , did it take for your surgery from start to finish . Are you enjoying your band , how is the followup visits at the office. I have called the office several times and everyone seems very nice . Have you had any fills yet , and if so where are the fills at the hospital or his office. [/url] Any information you can share I would greatly appreciate it. Again Thanks You_Francine

  5. Hello My name is Francine any info on Dr.Byrne would be greatly appreciated I am intrested in Lap Band at MUSC also. Please forward in info u have thanks, Francine

  6. I posted a reply to you. My sister is considering surgery with Dr. Byrne. I live in Ft. Worth and was banded last Nov 07. Just looking for as much info as possible. I know having a good doctor is key...I have read horror stories. Dr. Byrne has so many good things online about him. This is encouraging. Any thoughts that might help her (and me as I can't hop on a plane to visit her and go to an appointment with her) would be appreciated. Thanks.

  7. Hey I am a new band person. I have not had a fill but will next week. My question is this: I live 5 hrs from the Doctor. How long does it take after a fill to know if the restriction is too much? I am so worried about getting a fill, going home and not being able to swallow. Any info would be appreciated.

    Am I too old?

I asked the same ? a couple of months ago. I was banded 2 weeks ago. I am 59 . I have had no problems and feel great. It is a tough decision but I am so glad I made it.
  9. Hi, My friend and I were both banded on June 10. We had a very satisfactory experience with MUSC and Dr. Byrne and staff. You can't get more top notch I don't think. We are both 1 week out and doing great so far. We are 50plus too.
  10. So, how are you doing? able to return to work? Did you go through Tricare or other insurance? Did you have to pay the $250.00 up front for consults, etc? Sorry - so many questions! Hope you are well and your friend too. E-mail when you can -

    Thanks!!

  11. Good to hear from you, and CONGRATULATIONS on your success losing 20 pounds!!! I recently got into the "two's" also, and it felt WONDERFUL. I just got approved for my surgery on June 9th and took my class on June 11th. I see the surgeon on July 15th to get a surgery date. It should be late July or Early August. Maybe it will be near my birthday, which is Aug. 7th. The start of a new slimmer life would be a wonderful birhthday gift. I have lost 32 pounds now on the pre-op diet, I am also doing low carb. I just got back from the store, I was stocking up on the things I will need for the liquid diet pre-op. My surgeon requires two weeks of liquid diet pre-op. At times, I get a litte scared, but I meet a woman I used to work with at a support group my surgeon set-up, and both she and her daughter had the surgery. Both said they are thrilled they went the lap band route. My former co-worker lost 65 pounds since Dec. 13, 2007. Keep in touch.

  12. Wow, I love this thread and needed it so much.I am 58 and trying to decide whether to risk having lap band. It is so reassuring to hear that other "really old"people have survived the surgery. Please keep posting old people!!! I love to hear how well you are doing. ang
  13. How long after surgery do you get to drink water? Do you have a catheter and when do they take it out?
  14. Has anyone gone to Medical Univ. of South Carolina? Anyone been to Dr. Byrne? Info would be so appreciated. As
  15. Hi! Just thought I would pass along my celebration. I passed the 20 pounds lost point on my pre-op diet today. Ive been doing low card. I still have a long way to go, but I am just so pleased to see the scale going down. I am in the Two's for the first time in a very long time. I had a terrible day at work yesteday, and was able to stay motivated and on the diet. How are you doing?
