Thank you! I've finally settled with the idea of having surgery sooner than expected. I have a nutrition support class tomorrow which I'm hoping will definitely help with changing my lifestyle prior to surgery. So I can have successful weight loss.

Today I had my surgeon appointment at my new Hospital, he explained to me that with my insurance I have a prerequisite of 6 months supervised diet. THEN my doctor asked if I had seen my PCP last month, I told him I've seen my PCP monthly since January and he told me that those months of seeing my PCP count as weigh-it's for the 6 month requirement, now I only have to do 3 months of a Pre-Op Weightloss group. He suggested I attend one this month so that by June, for our next appointment (June 13th), he can schedule me for surgery. It is definitely nerve wrecking because I believed I had 6 months to prepare myself. Although, I am excited. I also did my blood work today in which all my lAbs came back normal, they scheduled me for an upper GI along with my other apps (Nutrition group class, Nutrition one on one, Nutrition follow up, Psych Eval). I'll be set with all my appointments by the end of May. I'd only have my upper GI & surgeon apt for June 13th to tend to (which would be the date I find out my surgery date) ah. I'm so excited to start this process. Even though my surgeon didn't tell me to lose any weight, I have lost 6lbs in 2 weeks by changing my eating habits. Not much but it's definitely something to me.

Likewise! Thank you, I'm also hoping for July/aug, I've finally settled in with the idea. And have tried to change my eating habits. Although I've been very unsuccessful lately.

I had my first consult today, my insurance requires 6 months weigh in. But surgeon told me since I've gone to my PCP the past 3 months in a row they will count towards my requirement and now I have 3 months to go.

It's been a few months since I went to my info session and first appointment at my primary hospital. I was denied from their program because they didn't deem my health issues weight related. They I insisted I get put on 2 different hypertension meds just so I can be able to start the program. I went to an appt @ my primary & he referred me to a diff hospital, although frustrated to start over the proccess I am so happy!!! I didn't have to wait at all, I registered to the hospital today, did my info session online and called to schedule an appt. They booked me for ALL the neccesary apts (Surgeon, Nutrition class, Nutrition assessment, nutrition follow up and psych evaluation). They are all booked for next month. Super psyched. My insurance requires 6 months of Pre op weight loss progrAm. In which my hospital provides a monthly class to fulfill that requirement. I should be having surgery by sept/October God willing. I'm upset because due to the months of waiting (to get denied from the first hospital) I developed HBP, arthritis in my knees and Edema. I've also gained 6 pounds since [emoji20][emoji20][emoji20][emoji20] but hey! Here's to the official start of my journey.

I was wondering if I could get my ekg/X-rays/dietician and nutritionist appointments through my PCP and have them send over the paperwork/clearances or if everything has to be referred through the surgeon? My PCP can refer me for all of these specialists through his clinic to make the process quicker. Just wondering if I can. ️

I have an information session scheduled for tomorrow. I have no idea what to expect hence I know no one who's gone through bariatric surgery. I've done a lot of google searching & I'm still confused. I've read everything from the process taking up to a year+, all the required screenings prior to even getting surgery booked, & certain diets/weight loss prior to it. Please help! I could use all the info you could offer and experiences. Thank you in advanced!!! I'm a 21y/o F weighing 249lbs (heaviest I've ever been) diagnosed with mini strokes, arthritis and visual problems due to significant weight gain. Also suffer from chronic migraines.

And, YES! We got this [emoji854][emoji1320][emoji1320][emoji1320] [emoji272][emoji813]️

@tonyab I also struggle from chronic migraines, I was diagnosed with 2 mini strokes. They believe it happened years ago and recently been having high blood pressure, also neurologist believes I might be having vision problems due to the weight gain. I've never been able to lose more than 15 pounds. And even then didn't manage to keep the weight off I gained 20lbs in 1 month and 10 the following (previous 2 months) my PCP also ruled out thyroid problems. How long has your process taken you? Kind of an odd situation to have everything done before even meeting with the surgeon; did you PCP conduct those tests? And will you have all the info transferred over to your WLS clinic? I want my PCP to conduct all the tests since it'll be faster. But not sure if it's acceptable. [emoji272][emoji813]️

Wish you the best@tonyaB, how far into the process are you? I'm completely psyched to be transitioning into a better and healthier lifestyle not only for me but for my son as well. [emoji272][emoji813]️

My insurance does not require a 6 month supervised diet. [emoji272][emoji813]️

@recreatingcate omg, thank you so muchhh! I had the info session yesterday and my insurance doesn't require a 6 month diet supervision! I'm so happy although be it, i will definitely take the time neccesary just as long as I'm fully prepared for the sudden lifestyle change. The surgeon requires, blood work, attendance at their support group twice, meet with the Nutritionist, dietician, Psych evaluation as well as other required tests depending on my medical history. My PCP was the one who referred me, he also conducted lab work, just to speed up the process of the program. I'm now wondering if I can see my own nutritionist and psychologist or if i have to do it through their specialists! [emoji272][emoji813]️

@Orionburn Thank you!!! ️

@hb76356 My PCP ran blood work, he suggested it just to get a head start so I'm hoping none has to be done?? have a referral to the sleep clinic from my neuro. Also hoping that counts for something. Neuro believes I have Sleep Apnea... I'm praying I can get quick appointments for these tests!!! & thank you for the response it was very helpful [emoji272][emoji813]️

Hi!@TonyaB thank you for the response!!! I'm a very anxious person with no patience at all so 71/2 months seems lengthy!!! [emoji30][emoji30][emoji30] Im scared about having to lose weight as a requirement to get surgery. I have no access to a gym so all I can do is eat healthy and go on walks/jogs WHICH i hate doing unless I'm at the gym, simply cause of all the cars passing by.... judging [emoji272][emoji813]️

@nwjill, I'm completely confused about all the tests that are performed some people have a bunch done And others only have 2 or 3. My husbands uncle had a bypass and his process was only 2-3 months. He had the info session then an appointment for blood work, ekg, cardiogram and [emoji95] was scheduled for the following month. He didn't have to lose any weight as a requirement. Etc.
