  1. 14 months after gastric sleeve surgery, I'm sporting a BMI under 25. It's absolutely ridiculous what I've accomplished with the help of this tool. But it has been HARD. Nowadays, I still feel like a fat girl, and I do micromanage all the food that goes into my body (my friends are making fun of me for it now that I'm "slim") so that I can either keep losing or at least keep this weight off. I wish that wasn't such a big part of my life, and I didn't have to think about it all the time, but that's the way it has to work! There's a lot of habits that have changed unconsciously too, so it's not all too difficult. I had tons of stalls and tears along the way and I started a new phase of my life while in my losing phase, so I can relate to many out there who are fighting through it. I'm happy to talk to anyone who might benefit from sharing their struggles! xoxo
  2. Hey guys! I'm just over 8 months post op now, and ever since, I've been having problems with vitamins. I've tried probably five different brands, I've tried chewable, soft chews, and plain swallow pills. I've tried taking them with food, before food, after food, and completely separate from food. At some point, all of it makes me nauseous. I usually don't have to vomit, but it's super uncomfortable. Has anyone else had this problem, and if so, have you found a comfortable solution! I don't want to be turned off to taking my extremely important supplements because they make me feel sick! Thanks
  3. Unfortunately, my vitamins don't seem to mix well into drinks/shakes. There tends to be a yucky residue and I don't end up getting it all down. The melts/sublingual routes seem interesting. Liquid too, I'll have to look into it. My surgeon does not endorse vitamin patches, I'm afraid.
  4. My doctor hasn't been extremely helpful, just advising me to keep experimenting with vitamins that fit the profile. Thank you for your vitamin suggestions! I'm glad to hear I'm not alone with this problem. @BDME, what brand do you use?
  5. @FluffyChixIt's a great pack and I highly recommend it to anyone who hasn't gotten it yet Unfortunately, those are some of the ones I've tried and failed with. I hope you like it though!
  6. I haven't tried gummies yet, even though I took them a few years before surgery. Some people have told me they're not sufficient after surgery, but I don't know for sure! The vitamin I'm on now is actually a four times a day dosage in smaller bits. It hasn't seemed to help the nausea, and it's harder to remember a four dosage regiment too
  7. Congrats! Let me tell you, getting that number to start with a 1...there's no better feeling. Keep at it
  8. Forgive yourself and move on, try to avoid it in the future. It's not the WORST thing you could've eaten, right? You'll do better from now on Always, always carry your healthy snacks! it's the thing that keeps me on track 7 months later!
  9. See, I was told that it would push food through faster and I would get hungrier faster, but frankly, I've had no problem drinking within 30 minutes before eating (no difference in fullness), and I can't drink for a full hour after eating out of sheer discomfort with how the water feels over my full stomach! Weird.
  10. Lol. I have my starting weight on here listed as the highest weight I ever was, but I count from that and my surgery date (pretty much equal to end of pre-op weight.)

    Pre-Op Diet issues

Everyone's pre-op diet is different. If you have concerns, you should contact your surgical team, as we can't speak to the specifications of your pre-op diet. Good luck
  12. I am still fat--BMI is still in the obese range--but with over 100 pounds gone, I still can't see a change when I look in the mirror. Side by side pictures is the only way I can see a thing. When I saw my mother after several months apart, she actually CRIED at the difference, and I was so confused because I feel like I look the same!

    Protein Drink Evaluations

Do you want clear type drinks only, or any kind of protein drink?

    Exasperated With Eggs

That stinks! A scrambled egg with cheese and salsa is my breakfast almost every other day. Have you tried something like a frittata? Or a crustless quiche? Maybe a small serving with some veggies and some low fat breakfast sausage.
  15. It may not be by much, but I finally did it! Gosh, it's good to see a 1 at the beginning of my weight for the first time in so long...I'm too excited!! EDIT: In other news, since I kicked my butt into high gear as soon as I hit 300, this marks a 100 pound weight loss too!

    Weighing yourself naked :)

I'm always weighing in PJs--I would change it now, but since all my other measurements have been in PJs, it would just be off! Lol
  17. I'm 5'5". At highest, I was 300 pounds and a size 24. Currently, I'm 199.8 (very important for me not to round up, haha!) and a size 14. Still got a ways to go!

Hope it went well! Eggs are one of my favorite foods.

    Starting the Liquid Diet

The real answer is ask your doctor and see what they say. My personal answer is probably no, since you're trying to keep your liver as shrunk as possible for the surgery, and this liquid diet is basically practice for after the surgery anyway, when alcohol is definitely a no no. But, again, that's just me, and you should ask your surgeon this question.

    ONEderland!

Congratulations! I'm hoping to hit that mark pretty soon. Lol
  22. I'm afraid that in common practice the answer is....Tylenol. Pretty much every other pill I know of that you can get OTC is an NSAID, which is a no no. Perhaps you can try something topical that goes directly on the skin, or use heat/cold therapy, but if none of that seems viable, and even if it does, I'd contact your surgeon and discuss the pain with them

    liquid diet

I enjoyed sugar free popsicles at that time. Just a thought!

    conspation

Constipation was a fairly constant problem for me until I was on regular foods again. Now I can mostly stave it away by having 3 servings of fruit/veg a day and including high fiber starch when I do eat a serving, usually once every other day.
