    Am I normal?

I stalled around that time too! Many people do. Don't worry, it'll start coming off again, just follow your plan
  2. I chose to have surgery because I did all of these diets, low carb included, and it wasn't enough. When I had this surgery, I still had to change my whole way of eating, but now I also have the tool of the restriction to kickstart my body into actually shedding the pounds. Now, when I follow a plan, the weight actually comes off. WLS isn't a shortcut that works independently of diet; it's a catalyst to make the lifestyle change effective.

    Sleeve and Psych

I am in therapy while going through my post-op, and I think it's a very good idea. I started with her before the surgery and she knows all my issues. Having someone to talk things out with will definitely help your success

    Help

I'm 7.5 weeks postop and I've had several stalls. They do break. I can't imagine you're eating enough to gain weight for good, and these are natural fluctuations as your body is adjusting to the weight loss. You can try adjusting your calories/protein/water intake/exercise, but most likely, you just need to wait it out for a little

    HELP WITH PROTEIN!!!

Ask your doctor, but many people can handle tuna with some light mayo or greek yogurt in the puree stage without whizzing it up if they chew very thoroughly
  6. The first week I probably wasn't doing much more than half a mile at a time (not counting steps from the day, just as an evening walk). I graduated from that, but I was SUPER tired at first! I like your jokester doc

    Rewards?

    Mani/pedi! Various beauty items.

    ??

The optimal thing to do is to ask your team. I was allowed to have the soup base on full liquids, but had to strain out the egg pieces until purees.

    Telling the children

What a sweet story! And a great reason to get healthy: chasing around the kiddos and having a great time. Enjoy your cuties and best of luck
  10. I'm 23 and almost 8 weeks postop, and the road back has been tough, but I'm grateful to have done this surgery at this age. I haven't developed any long term health problems yet and hopefully the weight loss will prevent them. I'm also young enough that I have a whole life of activity ahead of me that I might not have been able to do with the weight. If you have any questions, post!

    Dizzy

I have this problem occasionally. It's sometimes fixed by drinking more, sometimes just has to pass on its own :/

    How much protein??

Your diet should be very specific to your surgical team, but if they really aren't giving you guidance, most patients I see on here are given a protein minimum of 60 grams per day. Calories depend on the phase you are in, and I really don't tend to worry much about them because between meeting the protein goal and being full, I usually fall into a pattern that's good for me. As for carbs, it's a personal preference. I try to aim for no more than 50; some very lo carbers on here don't eat more than 20 or so. I hope your team will give you some more feedback, cause that's really the way to go, but this is what I've seen for myself
  13. I'm sure this is a question best suited to the surgeon, but since it's Sunday, I can't call the office until tomorrow, so I'm asking here first I'm having an asthma exacerbation right now and I went to the urgent care, where they prescribed prednisone for 8 days. While these pills can be crushed, they have an absolutely vile taste, and it's much less disgusting to swallow them whole. I'm about six and a half weeks out from my sleeve. Do you think it's okay to just swallow them at this point?
  14. Yes, they do come in multiple flavors and you can order a sample pack to try all of them! If you order after that they give you a code to discount you the like $3 the sample pack costs lol

    Macronutrients

I can only tell you that my minimum for protein is 60g and I keep carbs under 50g. I don't much track the fat intake or sodium, just try not to use an excess of either one
  16. I don't have any problem with the Celebrate chewable multivitamins, but everyone is different :/
  17. The doctor at the urgent care informed me that I can crush them and mix them into pudding/applesauce if I need to, so I suppose they can be split, although they aren't very big. She couldn't offer any insight as to whether swallowing them would be appropriate, unfortunately I decided I would crush them today (still very yucky, even in pudding LOL) and call the surgeon tomorrow to see what they say. Thanks!
  18. Hey guys! I'm just over 6 weeks postop, on soft foods for another week or so, and suddenly I'm finding that everything I try to eat tastes disgusting. Even things I had no trouble with last week, like scrambled eggs, tuna salad, ground meat and beans--all of it makes me want to gag! I'm having trouble eating enough because I can't get down more than half of my meal, even though my stomach itself isn't protesting. I wanted to cut back on Protein shakes, but I need them to reach the protein goal at this point. Is this some sort of weird psychological thing, or is there a fixable reason this is happening? Thanks

    Halo Top Ice Cream

I had it pre-op and I enjoyed it. I liked the lemon cake flavor myself.

    Still in hospital

I had the same problem after my surgery. I couldn't stomach enough fluids for them to let me go without the virtual guarantee that I'd be coming back with dehydration. It's worth it, I think it was easier to get through those first few days with tight medical supervision anyway. Good luck!

    Chills

I'm cold all the time now, and I don't feel like I can blame it on less insulation yet because I've only lost 30 pounds since surgery but you're not alone! I wear extra layers to bed now.

    Craving

It's totally relatable and totally inconvenient!! Just try to focus on your day and the life changing journey that you're about to embark on. Sip your fluids and relax! You got this.

    Macros

I use the baritastic app with only a 60g protein and 64oz water goal. I try to keep carbs under 50, generally, but given that I'm still less than 2 months out, I don't really eat enough calories to both meet the protein goal and go over 50g of carbs anyway I don't really track fats at all, just try to make whatever fats I eat the low fat kind (never fat free, I love myself too much for that!)

    Can I eat beans?

The thing to do here is to consult your diet plan, and if that doesn't tell you, then call your NUT or surgeon. Every plan is different. I will tell you that 4 weeks out, I personally was allowed to eat pureed beans, not whole beans. But again, check on the plan assigned to YOU

    I screwed up

The discomfort will pass before long. It's a learning process. Before you know it, you'll be able to eat this stuff again, but it's definitely hard in the meantime. Keep your head up!
