Logging your daily intake of food and etc.?
ChaosUnlimited replied to The Preacher's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I guess you don't have to log the type and amount, but I find it helpful for times when I'm going through a stall to look back and see what my diet was like during times I lost well and didn't. Also, it helps keep me honest, as I get further out and my appetite grows, I find myself sometimes wanting to eat more than what a serving size should be. -
Come laugh and be depressed with me at the same time!!
ChaosUnlimited replied to Snapple's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Girl, same here. I lost all my booty and all my boob along with the weight. But I wouldn't trade it for anything! I have found it hard to find a good fitting bra at the size I am now, and bras are expensive! I recently found a good fitting sports bra and bought several more right away. One positive, it is easier to exercise without as much bounce! -
Will I be too sore for a demo lesson (interview) 3 days after surgery???
ChaosUnlimited replied to jultrim18's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Ditto what everyone else said. While it may be possible to drag yourself to the interview and teach, you won't be at your best. If you really want the job, ask them to reschedule and give yourself a couple weeks at least. Hopefully they will be understanding. -
I'll fess up, I'm old enough to remember that show, however also old enough that I completely forgot the spoiled milk reference until you posted this and reminded me.

I haven't tried it but I'm interested in hearing other experiences. I have used a blend of essential oils for back pain that worked well, it just didn't last as long as I would like. Mostly now I just use Tylenol if i need something.

Sounds like it’s bad, maybe it got too hot. I don’t shop at Sams but they need to check their supply!

Doing my MGB in 6 days...need help.
ChaosUnlimited replied to JBig2Jslim's topic in Mini Gastric Bypass Surgery Forum
I think you can still be a foodie, as long as you are eating things on your plan. I love finding new recipes for things with different flavors and tastes that I can still have. For the blood sugar, if you are diabetic you may have to watch your levels more frequently, and they will definitely need to adjust or take you off your meds. I had a couple issues with my blood sugar dropping in the hospital right after surgery and they had to give me dextrose by IV, but they said it was very unusual for that to happen. They took me off my blood sugar meds right after surgery. It happened only once after I went home, I did have some applesauce which helped. You should discuss this with your team and see what they recommend you do if this happens. -
I have been trying to get back in to running lately and I realized today that my thighs don't rub together anymore when I run. Crazy, right? I've always had meaty thighs, even at my lower weight which I'm at now, so I guess that (hopefully) means I'm more fit now than I was as my younger self when I never exercised!

I bought my little Cheez Its again I just cant stay away from them
ChaosUnlimited replied to apositivelife4me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Try these: https://shop.kaysnaturals.com/gluten-free-low-carb-white-cheddar-cheese-puffs-p/o-wck-s.htm They don't have the same consistency as crackers, but they are tasty and crunchy for those times when you need that type of snack. You can sometimes find them cheaper on other sites, I've gotten them on Amazon in the past. -
Before I had a gym membership I got a couple exercise DVDs to do. I had a couple of "The Biggest Loser" workouts with Jillian Michaels and the guy, Bob something-or-other. You can check to see if they lend DVDs at your local library, or they are probably pretty inexpensive if you look on eBay or somewhere similar. I got a good workout from them.

So miserable with pre-op diet
ChaosUnlimited replied to jultrim18's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
The first few days is the hardest, it does get easier. Sugar free ice pops help with having something to crunch on when the cravings get bad. It's mind over matter, try to distract yourself. I cleaned out closets to keep busy at one point during my pre-op diet, and I tried to just go to bed early when I could because night time is my worst snack craving time. When you get to your surgery day, you will look back and be glad you're at the next phase, and you'll probably be a few pounds lighter and on your way to your goal! -
PROJECT LAST CHANCE! 3rd Bariatric Surgery Scheduled...Sleeve to RNY Anyone?
ChaosUnlimited replied to ellie123's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can feel the pain and anguish in your post about the first two surgeries not being successful. I can't imagine how hard that has been. I hope the third time is the charm, and it certainly sounds like you have a good surgeon now and you're in the mindset to make the necessary changes. I wish you the best in this new journey, as you know it's hard work, but you can do this. -
Pre Op test done. What is next?
ChaosUnlimited replied to Silke's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It probably depends on what your insurance and surgeon require. Did your surgeons office give you a list of requirements to be done before setting a date? All of them seem to have different requirements, so yours may not be the same as mine, but I had to do several nutritionist visits and educational classes, three visits with my surgeon, psych eval, EGD, EKG, and blood work for the surgeons program. My insurance required 6 months of supervised diet plan. -
4 years post op and can’t lose a pound
ChaosUnlimited replied to BriWLS's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
You said in your previous post "the brown sugar one", if you're getting the instant flavored oatmeals they are higher in sugar and sodium. You can try using the old fashioned oatmeal and making overnight oats or something if convenience is a factor. -
I just signed up for a virtual run and thought this may be something others would be interested in. You sign up just like you would for a regular 5k race, but you can do it on your own, outside or in a gym, and log your hours when you're done. No pressure! I decided to do it to keep myself motivated to exercise and run, and also to try to get some local running buddies to train with. (It worked, I have a few people who are interested in running or walking!) I work every other weekend and many of the 5K's that are local to me wind up being on my work days, so I thought this would be a great way to do it at a time that is convenient for me. See below for the link/URL to The Great Pumpkin Virtual Run or Walk if anyone is interested. For this race you get a link to share when you register, and if 5 or more people use it to join, you get a $20 refund of your race fee. I challenged my friends on facebook to motivate others using their link like I am doing and then donate any refunds to a charity. I'm giving my refund if I get it to a local foundation for cancer care. If you need an excuse or motivation to get moving, here it is! Here is the URL: https://runsignup.com/Race/AK/YourTown/TheGreatPumpkinRunVirtual?raceRefCode=MR3hDKGC&utm_source=RunSignUp&utm_medium=Referral&utm_campaign=MR3hDKGC

Noob looking for guidance before my first surgeon meeting
ChaosUnlimited replied to Jobber's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You can train your brain to be "re-wired" but it takes a while. Small changes, achievable goals - it's a start. It will add up. -
Noob looking for guidance before my first surgeon meeting
ChaosUnlimited replied to Jobber's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I kind of went through that mindset before surgery too. My friend and I went to the first info session together, and we thought we would be weighed in that day, so we went to a Mexican restaurant before the meeting to get in our last great meal and weigh more for that meeting to make the next weigh in better if we didn't eat right before going. It's difficult to think that you are never going to be able to have your favorite foods again (but you will, in moderation, it will just be a while), and being afraid of the way your relationship with food is going to change. What you're going through is normal, but just remember that every pound that you put on is one more you have to re-lose. If you're like me, you've lost and gained, and then had to lose again over the years, and I was never so frustrated at having to lose those same pounds over and over just to get to where I had made it before. Take a deep breath, recognize that you have the power to make better choices, and make a goal to do a little better each day. You don't have to make a bunch of huge changes, just pick one small change each week, and celebrate the days you achieve your goal. Examples: drink water instead of something sugary, substitute a healthy food for a trigger food, go for a walk. Can you do just one of those things a day? Small achievable goals help set your confidence to win! -
How long did someone help you at home after surgery?
ChaosUnlimited replied to MK686's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think it depends on what you need/do on a daily basis, I really didn't need any help with anything for me personally. However, my husband had broke his foot and had to have surgery on it a few days before my surgery so my mom came to help, but mostly she was just available to go to the store if needed and she cooked dinner for my teenage son and husband. If you have small children, you may need help doing the basics for them for a couple days. -
Intermittent Fasting
ChaosUnlimited replied to GreenTealael's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
It was difficult to get in all my protein and water in the beginning as well. As time passes your restriction will loosen up and you'll be able to get in more at one time, it will be easier to get in what you need. I couldn't do high intensity exercise during that time because I just didn't have the energy reserves from the lack of calories but I did sit ups, squats and planks to build muscle mass. Just passing this along because I think what you are doing is normal for this phase of your surgery, don't be down on yourself. -
Intermittent Fasting
ChaosUnlimited replied to GreenTealael's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
@GreenTealael He did it for about a month using a time restricting plan - seven or eight hours in a day for food consumption. He had to play around with which hours worked better for him in the beginning. He had about 20 extra lbs to lose and lost about 25 I think it was. -
HELLO from the UK! WLS - September 2018 - Anyone else?
ChaosUnlimited replied to DKG_WLJ's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Welcome! I'm not from the UK, but just vacationed there (Scotland) and it was pretty amazing! Some of my pre-op prep was: Stop drinking fluids while eating meals, wait 30 min after eating to drink Learn to eat in smaller bites by using baby spoons/forks Stop carbonated drinks and caffeine (I weaned off coffee before surgery to prevent the caffeine withdrawal headache while in the hospital, plus my doc wants all his patients to be caffeine free for at least 6 months after surgery) And I started using the myfitnesspal app to track my food and fluids and still use it now, it's a big help -
Intermittent Fasting
ChaosUnlimited replied to GreenTealael's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I haven't tried this myself, but my son has researched it and done it for weight loss. He said he likes restricting his eating time rather than restricting his diet because he doesn't feel deprived. He didn't keep doing it due to different things going on with his schedule, but is talking about going back to it once he gets back to a regular routine. -
Gastric Sleeve Four months POST OP update

Congrats on your loss! You look fantastic! -
I just take tums if I need it, but I don't get a lot of heartburn. Do you have certain foods that trigger it?

Partner’s weight
ChaosUnlimited replied to KCgirl061's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My husband stayed about the same in the beginning, but over the past several months has gained. Not excessively, he's still within the range he has always been. He goes through phases where he works out a lot and drinks body building supplements and protein shakes, and he gets very muscular and gets down to a very low body fat, but that's hard to maintain with his job right now. Recently I think he's been eating a lot of fast food, and then of course if we go out to eat, he's eating his own plate and then often eats the rest of mine if I'm not taking it in a to go box, lol.
