Ok, Here's mine. My husband and I lived in Pueblo Colorado, (our hometown) It was May 12, 1982 (I believe). I was approx. 3 months pregnant. My husband was a manager for a well known fast food restaurant and was sometime called to go to the restaurant when the alarms would go off. A policeman would meet him and they would go into the restaurant and check things out..... Well this one night about 2am) the alarm company called and said that the alarms were going off all over the south side of the city and he would need to go to the store and check it our alone. I was nervous about that and decided to stay up and wait for him. It was a warm night and It had rained pretty hard, but had cleared and the air was so refreshing, I sat with the lights off at our kitchen table and watched for my husband to come up the street. The door was open with just the screen door between me and the outside. This is where it gets crazy. All of a sudden I heard this weird noise (almost like bacon frying) and the sound of a click (loud) and then a BRIGHT GREEN light came flooding into the house through the doors and every inch of area that was not covered by curtains etc. First the noise, then the light... This happened 3 times. I got up and walked to the front door (the screen) and looked out and was going to step out onto the porch and take a look up... I had this overwhelming feeling that "I don't want to see whats up there" about the time my husband come barreling up the road and jumps out of the car and yells "get in the house !" and pushes me back in. I asked what he saw and to this day he says that he didn't see anything. Now you tell me. what you think it was? Do i believe in UFO's? What do you think. I worried my whole pregnancy that something might be wrong with the baby. Nothing was, but I will never forget that and I still think that if I would have looked up I would of seen some kind of UFO.

Hey thanks... I will call Dr.Carters office again. I am somewhat frustrated with the Insurance Coor at his office. I just can't seem to get straight answers from her. I don't know how many times that I told her that USMD and the center in FT. Worth were not in my PPO and ASKED what I needed to do. Wouldn't you think they would be a little more interested in getting my services and isn't all this research HER job? I just hope that this is not the way my followup services will be like. I am almost to the point of going somewhere else. I just am venting... Sorry! Thank you for your reply. -

I have been trying to work on that, however alot of the doctors that do WLS in my area, work strictly with a WLS surg. center or a specific hospital and that makes it hard to find a doctor and the hospital that are BOTH in the PPO Network. Thank you for the advise. I guess I just needed to hear someone tell me I wouldn't have to start over. Thanks again! -
All my insurance requirements will be completed. However, that doesn't mean a darn thing. Anyway, hopefully everything will go well and I will get my surgery around the end of July!
-
What was the reason for the denial? Maybe they don't have all the information needed, I know that working with my insurance has also been trying and I am making sure all my little ducks are in a row. I would call your doctor's office and have the insurance rep there give them a call and find out exactly what the problem is. They will be more willing to give the doctors office information (alot of the time) than to us. Most insurance companies will try whatever it takes to not have to pay. You just have to keep after them!! Don't give up! It is a long process. I'm right there with you, hopefully I will be approved in July. I am doing the 6 months now... according to my doctor's office, that was the only thing in my way. So come July we will see. Good Luck to you! Just keep trying!

Borderline BMI - a waste of time and you still pay?
dovie6523 replied to Constance's topic in Insurance & Financing
I am going through the same thing. Talk about a "catch22" (did I just date myself?!)LOL. Anyway, it is crazy. If I could of done it myself with diet and exercise, I would have. This is just another loop hole they want us to jump through, hoping that we will give up! I have been fat my whole life, what's 6 more months! Hopefully come July, I will be approved! Just hang in there. If you can't really afford to self pay... (like me) What's 6 more months. It will be here before you know it! (I keep telling myself) I am excited and don't want to wait either, but hang in there! -

Has anyone out there used Dr. Richard Carter? -
Wow you are lucky!

Thinjen: Thank you for your reply. It helps to know that someone else has been through it too! I just get so mad when I think that I could be alot lighter by July! I live in Texas and do you know how hot it gets here in the summer? I don't know what I will do with out being able to swim... I guess I'll just have to sit on the side and dangle my feet in. At lease I have July to look forward too.. Hopefully I have jumped all the hurtles, according to First Health, this 6 months program was all that was lacking to be preapproved. I am thinking about getting something in writing from them that states that... Just to have the information at hand as the time gets closer. Thanks again for listening!

Hi everyone! I am kinda new to all this. I have jumped on a couple of times but I am really not part of the banded world yet. I thought I would be getting the word today and I did, but not what I wanted to hear! My insurance company is requiring a "6 month supervised program" in order for precertification. This means it cannot be Weight Watchers, Nuti Systems, LA Weight Loss, personal trainers, health club memberships or special food programs. I have been on a diet my whole life. I see my reg. doctor every three months because of the meds I take and they weigh me every time. And you know we talk about it every time. but that is not good enough. So all you folks out there that live in Texas and have First Health. Make sure that you get all the details about the approval process, because, if you can believe it, this is the only thing that is keeping me from approval. So now I am looking at another 6 month wait!:angry :cry
-
Paula: First Health has been a bit picky to say the least. They are the ones requiring me to have this 6 months "supervised" diet program. My Regular doctor has sent all my information in and first health is telling me that his notes were not detailed enough to prove that I was seeing him for my weight, even though, the meds that I take basically are for weigh related problems. It is such a gray area... when I go on Friday, I will see if there is anything else that he can do to help get this going before July. I really hate to wait until then... I could be well on my way by then, but I will if that is what it takes. I been fat my whole life, whats 6 more months? Thanks for your support!
-
Thanks everyone! I am going to see my POP on Friday to "start the new program". but I am going to see if there is something that he can narrow down for them. (Since he was the one that suggested the surgery!) I wasn't seeing him monthly, but every other month because of the meds I take for high cholestoral and depression. Just these two drugs have to have a visit before they can be refilled. Lipitor for the cholestoral and Wellbutrin for the depression. Both are prescribed meds that help with me with my health because of my weight. DAH! They make it so hard and complicated. Most folks will just give up. NOT ME!

Yes! That and I started gaining after my tonsillectomy. I have heard that there could be some link between the two.

Trish: You are being too hard on yourself. I am new to this group and try and get on everyday to help lift my own spirits. I am waiting for my approval from my insurance. My weight has been a struggle for me all my life and I understand how you feel about "why can't we be accountable to ourselves?" I feel like the band is a tool to help me be accountable. Not a cure. Just keep up the good work you've started. You have already taken the first steps to help yourself. Look ahead, not back. Everyday start out fresh and just work one day at a time. Slow is better than not at all! Hang in there!

Hello there! This is my first post. I am disappointed this morning, learning that my insurance has denied my coverage. However, First Health is requesting more information from my doctor. Has anyone else had this trouble and what tips can you give me that may help the process along? :confused:Thanks in advance.
