BabyJessica: Just to let you know, if you didn't get my email.. My surgery is sheduled for Sept 8th. I could of done it on the the 1st, but I am a controller for my company and need to be here for our end of the month closings. So it is the 8th.. I also had to choose between the the 1st and the 8th because I have to have my surgery at the Medical Center of Arlington and Dr. Carter only does surgery there on Fridays. Hang in there friend.. It will be here before we know it. I was upset too, but really it is out of our control. Just enjoy the rest of your summer and go on your trip and have fun. The next few week after that will be life changing! Hooray, I am ready for my life to change!

Hey all you August people... I just found out that I am being moved to Sept. What a let down. Here I was ready for Friday and have everything ready to go and the doctors office called and said that my doctor is cancelling all his surgeries until Sept. He is out sick. Now, I am just sick. Another whole month. What a disapointment!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Janet: Where are you? I know that Dr. Carter in Arlington, TX has it for sale from his office.

Thanks everyone! It is getting closer! I go today for my visit with Dr. Carter. He won't be there(due to an illness) but his nurses will be doing the orientation. I guess I really won't see him until the day of the surgery. That makes me alittle nervous. But then, I am getting nervous and soooooooooooooooo excited! Thanks again everyone! It is so nice to have someone to talk too!

Thank you! I guess I am just jumping thru the hoops and worrying about little thing! Thanks again!

Hey everyone! It is approved! My surgery is August 11 here in Arlington, TX. Dr. Richard Carter will be doing my surgery! I am really excited and a little scared as well. This will be my first real surgery and I will be 50 in January! I have had lasik 3 times, but never been under general, so that worries me a bit. I still can't believe it!!!!!!

The 2 week wait begins...send me good vibes!

Good Karma...Good Karma! I know the waiting is the hardest part! Was you your diet "medically supervised" That sometimes is an issue. I know that I had to see my PCP each month for 6 months to qualify. I just got my approval yesterday! I have been working on this now since November of last year! Just keep plugging along! -
Thanks Everyone! I am still in shock! Yes, I need a big pinch! I will keep everyone informed... And for all you others out there waiting... THERE IS HOPE! KEEP TRYING AND NEVER, NEVER GIVE UP!

Hey everyone! My 6 months of "supervised weighloss program" ends on the the 13th of next month.:faint: I have not seen my doctor yet. I have only attended the seminar (which was last November). I really wanted to make sure that everything went through with my insurance before I went in to talk to the doctor. So now, it's almost here and I am feeling alittle apprehensive about my selection of my surgeon. His office pretty much as said "call us when you are done with the program and we'll see then." I guess there really isn't anything that they can really do... It would just be nice if they were more interested. There have been so much talk about band slippage, erosion, infections.... I am wondering, (here) do I want to spend that much time and money on something that isn't going to work for me? Will it be something that will be a help for me the rest of my life? Is this a phase that everyone has gone through or is it just me being silly? Like I said I will be done with the program July 13 and hopefully will get to see the doctor there soon after, so maybe by the end of July or the first part of August will be my band date. Thanks for listening... My DH is sick of me!!!!:bored

Hey Carol, Welcome!!!! I haven't been banded yet, but wanted to tell you that you are from my home town. My Husband and I also opened the McDonald's in Canon City, Co and lived up there for about 3 years. Both my husband and I graduated from South High School and lived there until 1998 when we moved down here to Dallas. Anyway WELCOME! You will be getting some GREAT advice from these folks.

I am starting to wonder about my choice.
dovie6523 replied to dovie6523's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yes, everyone, It's done! I had my last "supervised appointment" today. I called the surgeon office and let them know to request the info from my PCP and then I called my insurance company to let them know that they would be hearing "again" from the surgeons office. So now it's that waiting game.... Hopefully it will be a quick answer and the one I want! I did go ahead and send a personal letter of request, even though that was not a requirement. All the hoops have been jumped, I think!?! Anyway, Thank you all for your input. I will let everyone know as soon as I know! Keep the Karma coming this away! Thanks again everyone! -
Hey, hello there.. I am hoping to be banded either the end of July, but I think it will be more into August. I was required to do a six month medical supervised diet ( what a joke) and I will complete that July 13th, then my stuff goes to the insurance company... Then we wait.... wait... wait... I am praying that they aprove me this time! Everyone, send some karma this away on that week, I will sure appericate any help I can get! I will let everyone know... That is FOR SURE!

Hey ya'll, Just wondering about my addition to Afrin nose spray. I have been using this stuff for the past twenty + years and now that my surgery will be coming up, I am worried about any issues. I haven't gone to my first consult yet, I am waiting to make sure my insurance covers the procedure first. I was just wondering if any of you had the same issue and how did you handle it?
-
Thank you! I have been worried about this. I really need to get off the the stuff, but you know how that is. Hopefully, like you, I won't need it after the surgery.

Totally blowing it on the supervised diet.

Totally blowing it on the supervised diet.

I am in the same boat. It is the most stupid thing I have ever done. You are supposed to fail. I am in the catch 22 mode, I really can't lost anymore or I will be under the BMI limit and I really don't want to gain anymore because I'll just have to lose it again... this is a requirement that is really a detourent for for the insurance companies. One more hoop for us to jumb through, hopeing that we will just give up... Girl, keep jumping!!!!!! July 13 is the last day for my "6 months". It goes by pretty fast, and I have been fat my whole life, so what's another few months. -
I am starting to wonder about my choice.

Thank you everyone! I am excited to have the band.. I guess I am just going through the "what if's". If I could of lost the weight by myself, I would have. NO, I need the tool! Thank you again. I'll just keep plugging along until July 13th. -
Alrighty then.... beat yourself up. You know what to do, then do it! Get back on track. Start right now! Your already mad at yourself. Take control. You have won the fight before and you can do it again! Just think about the weight you have lost, don't dwell on the gain. Just get back on track... You can win at this!!! You can do it!

Me too!!!! I guess it's that, well this is it. I won't be able to have you anymore, so what the hell.... Anyway, you are not alone. I too, am hopefully going to be banded in July. I am trying to get through my "6 months of supervised weight loss program" which by the way, I have to fail at to be able to be approved by my insurance. Doesn't make much sense, does it. Just one more hoop to jump through. -
I'm a Zebra too! I've alwayed loved those colors!

Hey everyone... I need some advise. I am working on getting approval from my insurance for the surgery. I am currently doing the "required 6 month weightloss program that my insurance is requiring me to do. It was the only thing standing in the way of the approval (We will see:rolleyes: ) Anyway, this is the delima... My surgeon (who is in my ins PPO network) does his surgerys at USMD Hospital here in Arlington. He also does them at the "Speciality Surgery Center in Ft. Worth. Neither of these two locations are in my PPO network. I called the insurance coor. for Dr. Carter office and she said I should just wait until I am approved to worry about it. Well if I wait until July and found out that Dr. Carter can't do my surgery, I'm back to square one again and have to start over with another doctor. I guess I am looking for some insight from y'all as to what I should do now before july. I have been working and waiting since November. I am so close now, I don't want to have to wait again. What should I do?

My husband just pooh poohs it and never talks about it when it is brought up. He knows I know and thinks that people will think we are crazy. So he just refuses to talk about it with anyone. And I really think that he doesn't want to talk to me about it (even after all these years) because it makes it real. I have a nephew that was in the air force and he told me that he has seen things that he could not explain and that I wasn't crazy. The government knows alot they don't tell us.

Oh, he saw something! Not too long after that, he was standing looking out our window (upstairs) and the reflection from my daughters bedroom was (like shining and a reflection) on our window, but it looked like a bright light in the sky.. He said to me in a whisper, Dovie come here... take a look at that. He was scared. So was I, but as I moved in front of the window to look out, I must of blocked the reflection and the light was gone. I did that a couple of time and we were both relieved that we had not seen anything. So yes, he saw something, but he says he didn't.
