I don't know if we have talked about it in this thread or not, but I just purchased a Wii Fit and I LOVE it. It weighs you, measures your BMI, lets you set goals, plus gives you fun games that let have you building up a sweat and getting your heart pounding in no time. I find I can do 30 minutes on the Wii in no time. Plus, it is a lot of fun to sit back and watch others play, especially the Hula Hoop.

Newly Banded for 47days
tonyahebert replied to Raeband's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi, Rae. I was banded on May 31st, so we are almost band sisters, lol. I just had my first fill yesterday. I received 2.5 ccs in my 10 cc band. I don't feel much restriction at all, but my fill doctor is very aggressive and told me to give it a couple of weeks and if I still didn't think it was enough, he would give me another fill. He also turned me onto the Fat Flush Plan and I am planning on starting it next week, as soon as we get back from vacation. I am anxious to get started. I have only lost about 6 pounds so far, but that is going to change very soon! -
I also had some kind of skin reaction after I received my band. (If I have already posted about this in this thread, forgive me...didn't want to sift through 41 pages, lol) About a week after I returned from Mexico, I was weeding a flower bed and got into poison ivy. It was so bad, I went to my family doctor and he put me on a steroid pack. It was definitely poison ivy, but once it had cleared up, I still had sensitivity in the area I originally had the rash. For about a month, the only relief I could get was to get in the shower and use the shower nozzle to direct the hottest water I could stand to my arm, and back of my leg. It stayed red and inflamed for weeks. It has finally gotten better and what seemed to help was to apply moisturizing cream to the areas constantly. I think it could have been a combined reaction to the poison ivy and the antibiotic that I took after I had my surgery...(I couldn't recall ever taking this certain one) Hope it gets better for you...I know the misery, lol.

Just curious...Y'all are coming up on two months now...Are people beginning to notice that you are shrinking? I am scheduled for May 31st (I am a Shrinko de Mayo) and reading the previous months banders to see what I can expect with each month going by...I can't wait till people start throwing the curious looks. I have not shared my plans with many people at all...

I have been working on converting a storage shed I own into my own little gym. I bought a friends BowFlex and he delivered it yesterday. I also have a treadmill so I am planning on alternating weight training with cardio...I am super excited. (I am waiting 6 weeks to begin the weights though)I am two weeks out, and called today to get an appointment for a fill. The doctor I am using for fills will do one as early as 4 weeks out. I noticed for the very first time yesterday that I don't have any discomfort from my incisions.

And we are basically the same weight, and have battled with it for our adult lives. About six months ago, there was a WLS seminar and she called me out of the blue and wanted me to go with her...she had these big dreams of us having bypass or lapband together. I flat out told her that I would never have surgery, but I would go with her and give her my opinion on what the doctor had to say. I left there with not a great opinion of this particular doctor, and still with the opinion that I would never have surgery. *At the time, I thought it was too radical* Fast forward three months later...I went out with some friends to a club and there were pictures taken...I am usually the one behind the camera, so when these pictures were put up on myspace, I freaked out. I could not believe how big I was...isn't that funny? I knew the scale said 240 pounds, but I just didn't realize how 240 pounds looked when "Shorty Got Low" in the Jack Daniels Bar and Grill. I immediately began researching WLS. In a matter of 12 hours I had decided to DO IT. Within a matter of a week, I was scheduled for my surgery. *I am going to Mexico--self-pay* I haven't told many people I am doing this, but the first person I told was my friend who I had originally gone to the seminar with...I was all for us doing the "buddy" lap-band. Well, I was immediately told that I was crazy for going to Mexico, and there was no way in hell that she would go there. Well, she has insurance and but it won't cover WLS, but she has the money to fork out to have the surgery in the US. I asked her to do it in the US, while I did it in Mexico so we could still do it together. Nope, she couldn't so that...They were going to pay off their house this year... Things between us kind of got...weird. IDK...she started acting different. Well, this weekend, we went to the lake together. For some reason, she got pissed off at me. I have replayed it in my mind a hundred times. I didn't do anything. I tried calling her the next day, *before I knew she was pissed* and thought it was strange cause she wouldn't answer the phone, or emails, or messages on myspace. But her husband was home and it was not unusual for her not to take my calls while he was there...*I am single--widowed actually* I mentioned to my daughter that I thought Rene was pissed about something...My daughter and hers are extremely good friends, so she asked her daughter why Rene was mad at me. *Isn't this ridiculous?* The daughter said "My mom just doesn't approve of some of the things yours does." I am just freaked out here. We went from a nice day at the lake to not speaking. It is just so bizarre. I know a lot of you are reading this and thinking "there had to be something else". There wasn't. We left before Rene and her kids did, me telling her I would call her later, she saying ok. So...the whole point of me telling you all this is... Has anyone else had a similiar problem with friends becoming distant. Weird. Ridiculous...How did you deal with it? Do I just let the friendship go without a fight? If I knew what I had done, it would be one thing--but I didn't do anything. I have never gossiped about her. I know her secrets. And trust me, she has some doozies. WTF????

And it was just as great as always...BUT, did anyone notice Callie??? She looks like she has lost some weight. I love this show!

An update on my saga with the friend...While I was in Mexico, she resorted to the most high school-ish of tactics that I have completely written her off as a friend. I don't even want to repeat what she did cause I feel so STUPID have to even say it...Let me just say that it involved MySpace and the posting of blogs that were hurtful to me as well as my family and friends. I have a close group of friends--there were five of us and she contacted each and every one of them and tried to "turn" them against me by telling them lies and embellishing on half truths. All of my friends (who were her friends also) were able to recognize the fact she was lying but now they are scared to death to defend me cause of the way she did me...I left high school 20 years ago, and I am in no way mad at my friends who are scared to defend me because the things she did were so terrible, embarrassing, you name it. She was vicious. Anyhow...I will live. It has caused me to re-evaluate every word that comes out of my mouth...I refused to stoop to her level and I very well could have...the only comment I made was in a blog about random things going on in my life...#2 was "Monterrey was a cool experience. I lost 240lbs before my surgery" (referring to her weight, lol) and #3 was "Who knew 240lbs could by psycho". Life goes on...It will only make losing weight feel that much better, lol.

Getting around and flying after surgery ...
tonyahebert replied to Nachtigall's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also flew to Mexico for my surgery and had no problem. Everyone is different, and I don't have a clue why I didn't have any problems and others do...I was the 5th woman (from the US) in four days who was banded by my doctor. All 5 of us came by ourselves...the first one was banded on Wednesday and flew home Friday and had an experience similiar to mine...no problems, very little pain, etc. Three women had their surgery on Thursday, so they were all able to communicate with each other. All three of them had seemed to have problems, lol. They weren't happy with the pain management, they weren't happy with the difference between Mexican and American health care practices, etc. The facilitator for Dr. A said it will happen everytime there are a group of women, they tend to pick their care apart, where a single patients tend to be less inclined to complain. I was very apprehensive after meeting "the three" but it was a breeze for me...I had my surgery about noon on Saturday and flew home at 9am Monday morning...I flew to Dallas from Monterrey then to Houston from Dallas, then a three hour drive home. I was tired at the end of the day, but who wouldn't be? Still a little sore, and I still cant bend over, but other than that, I feel great. Can't wait till my first fill. Something else about my trip that I found amusing...The facilitator (sp?) also told me that women come to Mexico by theirselves ALL the time...but, you have a man come to Mexico to be banded and they are bringing their momma or their wife, lol. I found that so funny! -
I was banded on May 31st...my experience is much different than what I have read, due to the fact I did go to Mexico...I was on a liquid diet for the first week, and then moved to soft foods today. I have felt great. Didn't have any shoulder pain. I can't wait to get my fill, but I have lost 7 pounds all ready.

Jamba, there is a forum just for people who have been banded in June. It will help to go in a read other peoples experiences who have been banded around the same time you were...look further down on the lists of different discussion threads. I was banded on May 31st, and I was one of the lucky ones...I didn't have much pain at all, and no shoulder pain to speak of...Good luck to you!

Just arrived in Monterrey this morning. My surgery is tomorrow at 11. I am so excited. I am going shopping in a couple of hours with some patients who were banded yesterday, so I can`t wait to question them. I will check back again on Sunday when I am back here at the hotel!

How much money did your Mexican Lap Band Surgery cost?
tonyahebert replied to a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Dr. Arturo Rodriguez--Monterrey, Mexico www.thebariatric.com $7500 (normally $8K) May 31st, 2008...yeah, in two more days...I can't wait! -
Thanks for all the replies...I have just been blown away by this... Plain, I pronounce my name He-Bert--my husbands family is from Beaumont, Tx...but I live on the border with Louisiana, (my bank is actually in La) and it is easier for me to adjust to being called A-bear, then it is to correct everyone who says it this way, lol. She was very contemptuous about my decision to go to Mexico, but like I told her...I am no dummy. I have done my research. This is perfectly safe. I am not travelling to a border town but rather going interior (Monterrey). Jana, My surgery is Saturday. I can't wait. I am flying out of Houston early Friday morning. I am actually going alone, but there will be other Americans that are being banded at the same time, so I won't actually be alone-alone. lol. Wish me luck. I can't wait!

Well...what did everyone think about tonight's episode? The kid trapped in the cement block? The clinical trial with the two kids in love? Mer-Der? Wow. The Grey's I love is finally back...and the season is over. ARggghhhh.:blushing:
-
And...I think I called it right with Simon and his reverse psychology...did you see him and Paula hug at the results? and how he backtracked tonight off of his criticism from last night? it shall be interesting to see how the losing david's fans react to Simon's "maneuvering", cause that is exactly what happened.
-
I don't want to give anything away either...but I second Susan, lol.:thumbup::tt1::thumbup::tt1::thumbup::tt1::thumbup::tt1::thumbup::tt2::thumbup:

need a fill dr in s.w. louisiana or east texas
tonyahebert replied to rebandit's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
i am going to be banded in Mexico...Querry will not do fills on the Realize band, so I am looking for another doctor now...Location is key for me because I am in rural Texas...I will probably end up going to Eijsink (sp?) cause she is closest to me. (2 1/2 hour drive) -
awww.did you see jordin perform? and then they panned the audience and blake lewis was there singing word for word with her...that was cool...i really like him, he comes across as a genuinely nice guy...just like david cook...
-
The finale is on right now...they said the voting was split 56/44...last night i voted for David Cook as late as I could...there for a while, I got busy signals, so I would call David As number and got right through...i did this 3 different times last night, lol. If they would have said the votes were seperated by 3, I would have hurt myself. I am hoping this was a sign, this was 3 hours after the show was over...keeping my fingers crossed.
-
I watched tonight and am hoping that Simon was using some reverse psychology with the audience...It has been noted before that when he is positive towards a contestant he bestows a "curse" and that person tends to be voted off (carly). I really enjoyed David Cook's performance tonight, but have never thought Archeleta has "star" potential and he seems so timid it drives me nuts...Simon basically called it as David A's night...so I am hoping that all the David Cook fans kicked it into overdrive. Even if he doesn't win, he will be great. Not winning may be a blessing for him...can anyone say Chris Daughtry?

I am being banded on May 31st, in Mexico. In preparation, I am converting a storage shed I have to a personal home gym. Since I am limited on space, I am having to decided which 2 pieces of equipment I want to put in my room...I have a friend who is wanting to sell her bowflex, and I am pretty sure that i am going to place it in my little room for sure...I have enough room that I can either put a treadmill in there or a stationary bike, but not both. What would you do? Maybe there is something else I should be considering? Any comments/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I take the Flinstones w/iron. The taste doesn't really bother me. I am quite childish when it comes to the color though, lol. If I shake out some in the palm of my hand, and there is a red one...I have to take it. There is absolutely no taste difference. Now I see where my kids get it.
