Good luck with your surgery!!! We all have some of the same thoughts on what we will be able to eat after being banded. I have been able to eat everything I did before the band just one heck of a lot less of it. I can eat about a cup of food and I feel full. The surgery was a breeze hardly no pain and all I took was tylenol for about 3 days and that was it. Keep us posted! Bob

Any surgery is scary and WLS is no exception. We all worry we won't be able to eat the foods we like but in all honesty I have been able to eat everything I did before just a heck of a lot less of it. The surgery was not as bad as I was thinking it would be as it was the first time I had any surgery at all. I never did take any of the pain meds that he prescribed only took tylenol when I got home and only needed that for about 3 days. I had my first fill this week and it was virtually painless, removing the bandaid they put on was worst than the fill. This will be the best thing you have done for yourself and your health. I have only lost 45lbs and my knees have already stopped hurting. Keep us posted on your journey and good luck. Bob

For Those Recently Banded How
mnbob replied to speck's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The first day or 2 I barely got a whole bottle down and Water was just not going down at all. Now I'm 10 days out and I can drink all I want and some mushy food as well. I even took pills without crushing them this morning, Bob -

Actually my wife and I got a kick out of the whole place. Even the wax museum up the street was kind of fun. Bob -

I'm a little over 2 hours away from you in MN. I have had band surgery just over a week ago and my surgeon says the 150lbs I want to lose is very realistic with the band. He also said that you need to keep up with apointments with fills, group meetings and nutrition appts. Bob -
It depends on your surgeon because mine said I have no weight restrictions because of the laprosopic procedure. If it was an open procedure it would have been 6 weeks restricted. Bob

I WAS BANDED 9/9/08 SO JUST 8 DAYS AGO. Surgery day I was sore right in the area below the ribcage and unable to swallow much. The 2nd day I got home and felt a little sore but mostly uncomfortable from the gas they put in you. Since home I haven't needed anything but tylenol and evryday has been better than the day before. Today I feel great and jumped on the scale and found that from a start of 372lbs before the liquid diet I am down to 331lbs today. So far I'd have to say that it wasn't as bad as I expected it to be. Your first step should be to contact you insurance company to see if and where they will pay for the surgery. Then attend an informational meeting at that facility. You can have a lot of questions answered there to help with your decision. Good luck on your journey. I go in the 9th of Sept for my surgery. Bob

The first thing you should do is call your insurance company to see if they cover it and where they will cover it. My company wouldn't cover it at Deer river or Crosby which are close to me but they will cover it in St Cloud so that's where I'm going. I started this in Feb and I'm just finished with all the pre approval stuff and now I wait to hear if I'm approved.

:biggrin2:Hi all I have done all but one more psyc visit and then go for approval. I will be having surgery in St Cloud with Dr Glass soon I hope. Bob

I have Medica also and Friday is my first appointment so I guess I'll be going thru a similar runaround to get approved.

Hi all I'm just starting the approval process and hope to learn about what to expect and share my experience with others. I'm a 52 year old male and I have Dr Glass in Sartell Mn. Bob
