Hernia repair and Sleeve
kins117 replied to lb2017's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had surgery on Wednesday with hiatal hernia repair. Didn't overly add to recovery but did make breathing deep harder. -
My first appointment was the surgeon explaining my options (sleeve, bypass, etc) as well as an overview of the program and tests and clearances I would have to get before surgery. My first consultation to my surgery date was exactly 3 months.

When I hit my goal, I'm definitely getting another tattoo. When my hair starts to fall out, I'll treat myself to a nice cut and color if I'm on track to my goals. Signing up for Stitch Fix when I reach goal will definitely be a reward!

I just had surgery on Wednesday as well. The gas pain was absolutely miserable but luckily just about gone now. I had a drain and the removal was the weirdest thing I have ever experienced. I usually get nauseous very easily so I've been sooo happy that I haven't been sick and am handling 50-60 ounces of fluid per day without problem. I hope all my fellow April sleepers are continuing to recover well!

Best pjs for the hospital?

I brought comfy pajamas but found the gown more functionable. Mine was also large enough that it wrapped around and covered my back so it was no problem. -
Starting my preop liquid diet soon

I just had surgery on Wednesday and had a 2 week pre op diet before. The first 4 days were hard then I felt sooo good. My energy spiked and it became so much easier. Just stick with it! -
I had nightmares leading up to surgery last Wednesday. They got weirder as my date got closer!
-
I lost 10 pounds on my 14 day pre op diet. I thought I'd lose more, but more importantly- my surgeon said my liver was so small and perfect for surgery so the diet did so much in that aspect.

DO GASX STRIPS REALLY HELP GAS PAIN IMMEDIATELY AFTER SURGERY
kins117 replied to pastbandedsleever's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
2 days post op here. They helped me. The gas pain is no joke when it radiates to back and shoulders. -
I had surgery on Wednesday, went home yesterday. I'm doing ok. Not totally off the pain meds but spacing them out more. Fluids are going ok, but it's non stop to try to get them all in. I can't get up and down out of chair on my own yet but hopefully by the end of the weekend.

I just had surgery on Wednesday and didn't use a single thing I packed except chapstick. Don't overthink it!
-
I definitely understand. I just had my surgery 2 days ago and I was an anxious, sobbing mess talking to the surgeon that morning. It'll all be ok!
-
I'm 2 days post op and have faith I would be fine to do that by 10 days. Day or surgery and yesterday were bad but I feel way better today. Gas pain is gone and just extremely sore

Surgery was yesterday morning. Yesterday was absolutely miserable. Gas pains in chest and shoulder were no joke. My heart rate spiked up multiple times through the night but all seems ok now and they've taken me off the iv and monitors. Working on water now and protein soon. I hope to go home this afternoon if they take my drain out! Glad to be done!

Glad you are doing well! My surgery is at 7am tomorrow and I am starting to get so, so nervous. -
Hugs!! You'll do great! I'm right after you on Wednesday.

7 days post opt Struggling.

Wow, 5 weeks seems like so much time before real food! I'm having surgery on Wednesday and will only be on liquids for 1 weeks, with purees starting the 2nd week. Hang in there! -
Less than 2 days until surgery (Wednesday at 7am) and I am starting to freak the hell out. I have no second guesses and am extremely excited, but I'm scared. I'm not scared of the pain and recovery- I know it will be hard but I know I can do it. I'm scared of not waking up. I'm scared of waking up with the breathing tube still in. I just want it to be over already so I can get on with the rest of my life.
-
You are not alone. I'm less than 2 days out from surgery and woke up sobbing this morning from a nightmare I had last night. I'm having trouble getting my pre-op liquid diet down because my stomach is so in knots. I have no second thoughts and am excited, but I'm scared. And thats ok- it's normal.

Day 8 of the pre-op diet and I feel AMAZING!!! The first 3-4 days were so hard with migraines, fatigue, etc. Today I have tons of energy and just feel great. Anyone that is struggling on the pre-op diet, just keep going!!
-
I'm on day 5 of my 14 day pre-op diet. 4 protein shakes a day (2 high protein like premier, 2 lower protein like slim fast), and 3oz chicken with 1 cup broccoli for dinner. All clear liquids day before surgery. and something new they just started that shows improved healing: 16 oz of regular (not sugar free) Gatorade then night before surgery and 16oz more the morning of surgery (finished at least 3 hrs prior to surgery).

Starting to eat again
kins117 replied to natarshassleeve's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Every surgeon is going to be different, but mine said no coffee for the first few weeks (maybe months), until I'm constantly reaching and exceeding my fluid goals. The issue with coffee is the dehydration properties of it. -
My instructions are no more than 8 pounds the first week, then no more than 20 the next 4 weeks.
