I have no idea about not eating any carbs - but I felt the same way. I was told by my friend that had this surgery, oh your won't be hungry and forget to eat. I said to him this is not easy - this has been very mentally rough. My only vice was food and now I have none. I was always fixated on food. My surgery was just over 4 months ago. I am losing weight, but my mind keeps saying what are you going to eat. I think it is harder right now because I am in between jobs with lots of time on my hands. When I have a protein shake, that it keeps me full for a long time. I am working a lot on my psychological side still wanting that comfort food. I have to remind myself all the time I had surgery - especially when I walk into the kitchen and there is food everywhere. If someone told you that this was an easy journey - they must have a few other vices they are now focusing on. I have found this to be a roller coaster in my mind. I am hoping once I am working again I won't be so focused on the next small meal.

Psychological evaluation ! What to say ? What not to say ?
atlgal replied to kbellakat's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor recommends that, post surgery, you be put on anti depression meds to cope with the changes. You may not realize you are acting differently. Sometimes due to weight loss, the hormone changes can play a number on your balance. -
If any of you could have had the sleeve done in your 20's would you?

I believe you need to do what you are ready for... Everyone's health is relative to their genes and lifestyle. I can't fault someone for getting the surgery in their 20's for health reasons. I know people that have had heart attacks at young ages. In my 20's, I was skinny minny and thought I was huge. I actually wasn't overweight until my mid 30's. My mindset was not ready for surgery until maybe mid 40's. I had to start thinking about myself and what was best for me. I was invinceable - my blood test always come back stellar to every doctors amazement. Reality I wanted to keep it that way- no medical issues. -

I really would not stress over it. This is the least of your worries. I was told at the end of my first ever pysch I was a good candidate and I had the green light. The fact you are truly losing any kind of weight before the surgery is also proof you are trying and ready to meet this weight issue head on. I will say the more you prepare yourself before surgery the easier it is to stay on track right after surgery. I was not ever fatigued or really felt like I had the surgery because I had already gone down to 800 calories a day. I seriously didn't feel like I even had the surgery. l continually have to remind myself - I go in the kitchen and see food my husband has left and go to reach for it and remember nope can't do that anymore. -

I had a pysch that worked with the Bariatric surgeon's office. All they are looking for is if you are stable for the surgery and that you are going into it for the right reasons. I was more put off by him asking every few minutes if I had the money to pay for it and how much it was. He asked what my childhood was like and my current life situation. I also filled out this 600 bubble questionnaire - which I never saw what became of it.
