    I am about 4 weeks post op. Prior to the surgery I had GERD pretty bad and it manifested as a cough. I still have this post op. I am taking Omeprazole twice daily. My surgeon added carafate but I don't know if I want to take it. Anyone have a similar experience. I don't want an ulcer but I am not sure if the carafate will help.

    Thanks. I am actually feeling a bit better and hacking away at trying to get the Protein in. I am really hard on myself and the least patient person I know. I am learning to take it one day at a time.

    I am only 3 weeks out but have had quite a rough go of things. Two surgeries in one week and then an infection. I have felt panicky/worry as well. I am not getting in enough Protein and the shakes make me want to gag. I talked with my surgeon and NUT and the both say these are normal and to be kind to myself. It will come. You may just be a little slower getting there.
