I originally didn't want to tell anyone about my surgery but I decided to choose family and friends to tell. I have had 100 percent support from everyone. People will surprise you. I'm now 6 months out and everyone now knows I had gastric bypass surgery. I didn't think I would get to this point but it feels good that people know. Too many people had so many questions. So now it's out there. I actually just feel good about it. I have only had one guy who gave me negative support and he's not in my life anymore. So many people will be so happy for you and that you decided to get healthy for yourself and your family. Good luck to you!

I hear ya ... I'm not too happy. I knew it was going to happen but didn't realize how bad it could get.

I'm 6 months out and having the same problem. I take my vitamins and biotin. I heard it can last 3-6 months. It sucks for sure I wish mine would stop also.

I'm almost 6 months out from gastric bypass surgery. I've lost 85lbs so far but feeling frustrated with my latest stall. I haven't lost any weight for 3 weeks and have gone up 2lbs. I'm exercising and staying around 1200 calories a day. Is this normal? I still want to lose 30lbs so I'm feeling frustrated. I thought I would continue losing for one year. Any thoughts? Have others experienced the same?

What a great feeling to fly for the first time and I actually fit in the seat!!! I've lost almost 60lbs since the last time I flew. The seatbelt fit and I was comfortable during the flight! I had surgery 3/13/17 and these are the moments I have been waiting for!

TSA body scan anomaly after surgery
Nina K replied to Oneiannie's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Same just happened to me. I flew from Chicago to Arizona no problem because I didn't get picked to do the full body scan. When we flew Arizona to Chicago I was picked to do a full body scan. He showed me the scan and yes it shows a bunch of yellow spots all over belly and inner thigh area. They had to do a pat down. I didn't say anything and just let her do her job but it kinda sucks. I've only lost 65lbs but I have extra skin on my inner thighs. It does makes you feel weird to have a pat down. I guess it's something we have to be prepared for every time we fly unless we have plastic surgery. -

Anyone else having issues with puréed meats? I have such a hard time with the consistency. Any thoughts? I'm 8 days out of gastric bypass surgery.

I love eggs thank goodness. I make scrambled eggs with lactose free cottage cheese every morning. I'm so happy I tolerated them. I also like them hard boiled and mashed with light mayo.
-
BBQ sauce sounds good. I'll have to look for that. Thank you for the ideas. I wish I ate fish but I don't.
-
I'm willing to try things.
-
I'll have to try gravy. I have been using mayo.

Yes I am nervous about chopped for sure. I will be taking it slow and doing a lot of chewing! Learning to eat slow is a challenge for me especially cause I enjoy my food hot. It's all a learning experience right now.

I'll have to ask doc about lactaid. I have a follow up in 3 weeks.
-
I'm glad I like eggs! Yes so many people say that their tastes have changed after surgery. It's so weird. I liked the sugar free hello before surgery and now I don't like it. I could take lactaid pills at some point for my lactose issues but right now I can't take pills. I'm only taking crushed or opened pills in applesauce. Once I'm past my 4 weeks I feel things will be a bit easier.

I've been on purée foods since day 2-week 4. My plan seems totally different than others I have talked to. That's the one thing that has surprised me the most. All of us have such different plans after surgery. I'm also lactose intolerant so yogurt isn't on my plan. I final am able to tolerate puréed meats. Just been sticking to chicken for now, I do scrambled eggs for breakfast and protein shake for lunch. Things have been much better but I'm looking forward to chopped foods after 4 weeks.

Seems like everyone has a different plan depending on what hospital. I am following my doctors orders. I've been on puréed foods since I left the hospital.
