My hair started falling out about 6 months out. It started out in larger amounts than normal. Then it started to come out in large amounts to the point my scalp was sore after brushing my hair. I would suggest making sure that you reach your protein goals and taking your biotin.

Oh yeah, I was annoyed for a long time. I was frustrated, irritated and easily aggravated. Once I started hitting the gym before work, that has changed. I get the energy out and then I just learned to ignore them. I have not desire to have many conversations anymore as I am thinking about what my next workout will be.

I was comfortable sleeping on my side around day 10. Some people can do it earlier. -
Help! Severe constipation
Sleeve1stFitNext replied to Luvabull2's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
If you are having issues now urinating and have caused bleeding from straining too hard, I would suggest going to Urgent Care. I am saying that because although you are constipated, that usually does not disrupt your urine flow. Dehydration is a possibility but at this point, you have hard stool sitting in your intestines and it can cause an infection especially if you have torn something in your rectum. As well as having urine sitting in your bladder can cause an infection. You may need some liquids to force you to urinate and a rectal stool softener to help your constipation. -
Most likely, you will have co-pays (Pysc Eval & Nutritionist). However, these services (Labs & EKG) are usually covered by your insurance. Unless you have a deductible that you need to meet before they cover the whole amount. Mines is $250 deductible (out of pocket) with 90% coverage. That means I had to pay $250 out of pocket prior to them approving me for surgery. That, however, was met by previous Doctor visits.

Approved, no letter?
Sleeve1stFitNext replied to Astarisborn's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is the case. I was approved without a letter in the mail. They send the Approval information to your surgeon. If you want the letter, you can ask your surgeon for a copy. UHC tends to try and cut back on the amount of paperwork that they need to do. I have had 2 surgeries while being insured by them and have never received a single approval letter. It is not something that they concern themselves with. They figure that your surgeon will provide you with all the details if you request that they do. I would not concern myself with not getting an approval letter, as long as your surgeon has it, you are fine. -
Sleeve recovery time
Sleeve1stFitNext replied to Courtney95's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Due to your line of work. You may need about 4 - 6 weeks. Surgeons usually do not suggest lifting anything heavy prior to that time and to gradually get your stamina and muscle strength back up after surgery. Also, you have a small child and that will require a lot of binding over and lifting. I would suggest staying away from work for the 4 - 6 weeks because you cannot stay away from being a mom. -
I see my PCP once every 3 months because she is concerned about the same. However, every time she does test, I am in the normal range of all my vital nutrients. I currently do not have issues with malabsorption. However, I do drink the Karma Priobotic flavor water once a week and I still drink Vitamin water for electrolytes. My surgeon is concerned too but I am good whenever they check. It could be an anomaly. I just do my check-ins when I am supposed to. She told me that the moment she sees the levels getting low, she will put more pressure on me to take them again (Do not get me wrong she is like a nagging wife (no offense) now. I can only imagine how she will be then).

Struggling with whey....
Sleeve1stFitNext replied to Just4nise's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just purchased the GENEPRO Medical Grade Unflavored 30g Protein Powder - 2nd Generation! - 30 Servings from the Bariatric Store. They say you can mix it in anything. I am hoping that is the case because I can stand the taste of Whey neither. Have you tried Premier Protein? Most people tend to be able to drink them without a problem and they come in multiple flavors. -

Well, did they put on you on the pouch reset? Also, are you tracking your calories and macros? I use the following Apps and fitness devices: 1) MyfitnessPal (I track my calories and macros (fat, carbs, protein)) 2) Fitbit (I track my steps and exercise. You can link it to the MyfitnessPal) 3) Purchasing a food scale and smaller portion containers. 4) Try for interval workouts. I hope this helps. I am sure I am missing some things.

Waiting on approval
Sleeve1stFitNext replied to Saundra89's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you using your insurance? The reason I am asking is it could be that you Surgical team is putting together the forms and data that your insurance will want and usually the insurance company drags their feet a little. I would suggest contacting your insurance company and seeing if the paperwork was submitted and approved. They actually can tell you. Also if you are paying out of pocket, then most likely, they are trying to schedule everything you would need. Usually, they will provide you with a packet containing your last bit of information. That includes time and date of surgery and all the information you will for before and after surgery. -
Have you tried a warm compression? It sounds like a gas bubble that is refusing to come up. You may have to use a warm compression to help relax the muscles. Also, try inhaling through your nose and out through your mouth slowly. This is something that I did and after a while, the bubble came up in a loud burp.

My plan is working for me. It is tracking what I eat and exercising. I have one day where I have a high carb count. Then the rest of the week I have a low carb count. This tends to work for me as I have the energy to complete my fitness goals. There is not one way to measure success. Some it is being at a normal BMI, others it is reaching the muscle goals needed to be strong. It all depends on what your goal is and how well you approach it. -
9months post op and 5 weeks pregnant
Sleeve1stFitNext replied to asetchell's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
I got pregnant after WLS. I got pregnant about 3 months out. I was not aware that I was. I did not know (I rarely get periods, so not getting one was normal). I was working out a lot, not sleeping enough, highly stressed out from work, not eating like I should and skipping vitamins. I was about 5 weeks when I miscarried and found out. It really messed with me mentally because I felt like had I known, I would have done better. I would have relaxed more, slept more when I was tired, took my vitamins. Made myself eat more. I fell into a depression for a little bit, blaming myself. However, since I realized that I could have children, should the day come again, I want to be the best and most active me I could possibly be. I never said anything about it on here because I just did not want people judging me. I never thought I could have children. I was told from 16 that it was not an option. This is why I say, find an OBGYN who is familiar with WLS and pregnancies. Make sure you are eating enough, cut back on the exercise and when you are tired, sleep. Get a good night sleep. Do not put undue strain on your body and do not let things stress you out. I know you wanted a positive story but sometimes the negative ones, help the most. -
Oh, It will happen. It is your subconscious coming to the surface and trying to make you give into your wants. Honestly, I had a dream about going into the Supermarket full of Edy's Ice Cream with a spoon and opening all the Ice Cream and taking a spoon full, eating it and then putting them back in their place . I do not think it is something to truly worry about. As long as you are doing what is needed to succeed you should be fine.

9months post op and 5 weeks pregnant
Sleeve1stFitNext replied to asetchell's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
Congratulations!!! There are many people on YouTube who documented their Journey and have had successful pregnancies and healthy babies. I had my own personal experience and it did not go well. It's not something I talk about. However, it is best that you find an OBGYN that is also aware of patients who have had weight loss surgery.
