United Health Care Insurance
Sleeve1stFitNext replied to Sleeve1stFitNext's topic in Insurance & Financing
Well, it all depends on your insurance and what they expect. Some people fall under the BMI limit during the diet but not enough to be disqualified. My suggestion is reach out to the insurance company as well as speak with the Bariatric center. They would be better able to give you an insight on how things would work out. -

I will be your buddy. -
You should really consider getting a FitBit. I have the blaze and I love it!! I do step challenges with Co-workers. It is a fun way to keep track of your steps and you can also sync your MyFitnessPal or WeightWatchers with it.

Natural Hair and Bariatric Surgery
Sleeve1stFitNext posted a topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Are there any natural hair woman whom have gotten Bariatric surgery? I would like to know about your hair loss and did your hair change. After almost 4 years natural, I am just learning my hair and I am wondering will it change or fall out? If, so how long did it take to grow back? -

What is most important to weight loss?
Sleeve1stFitNext replied to Walter.Sobchak's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Greetings, Both aspects are important. You can diet all you want, but without exercise, you will not be able to truly lose weight. I have eaten healthy but not exercised (minimum loss). I have exercised and not eaten healthy (minimum loss). Exercise and eating healthy (received a nice amount of loss before it stalled). Now I am using the sleeve to help. I will be exercising and having the sleeve. I will not depend solely on the sleeve to lose the weight. This is your decision and I think it is the best way. If you have not actively tried to lose weight the natural way and you are considering the sleeve as an easy way out, it may not work. This is not just a change of anatomy but a change of mind as well. -
Maybe instead of the smart ones, try salads with meat. You can make a chicken salad (Romaine, Kale, Cucumbers,) Salad with grilled shrimp or fish. This may help with the hunger since the meat is the highest in calories but also and Proteins and nutrients.

Insurance response
Sleeve1stFitNext replied to JealousMuch's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I heard back a week after my Surgeon submitted my paperwork. The day I called the insurance company to confirm that the paperwork was received, the insurance company told me I was approved. Then 20 minutes later my Surgeon called with the approval and the surgery date. Last visit: 1/10/2017 Paperwork Submitted: 1/18/2017 Approval Date: 1/25/2017 My surgeon had many patients, he submits everyone's paperwork every two weeks. That is why it took so long to submit my paperwork. -

@hotmamma1979 CONGRATS!!!! -
As of now before surgery, I take 10,000 -15,000 steps a day depending. My set goal is always 10,000. After surgery, my Doctor said to change the goals. Start at 3,000/4,000/5,000/6,000 etc. each day until I get back up to my current goal.
