  1. I felt normal about 6 weeks out. Each week got better. It was slowly changing. My energy was slowly increasing but it was getting there. Now I feel normal most of the time. I have days were I am out of it or extremely exhausted. I just try to relax and do as much as I can.
  2. Okay. Status update is very late. I cannot remember some of the days so I will be skipping those.

Work as been hectic. I truly started getting stressed out and actually starting eating carbs....a lot of carbs. I had a one week carb binge last week and I ended up gaining 2 lbs. I am not sure if it is from muscle or from the food (I am going to go with the food for accountability).

My ex-boyfriend wants to get back together. That is interesting.

Food wise, I have tried the following

I finally bought Halo Top. OMG that both came from heaven and hell lol. The ice cream is sooo good and delicious and if you do not pay attention, you can eat a lot of it.

I tried the Power Crunch Protein bars and I love them. I have one on the days that I go to the gym. I have spent this entire week getting myself back into Ketosis and it has been pretty easy actually.

Well that is it for now. I will try to keep posting daily.

I agree with Apple, it's probably water weight. The main thing is that you recognize your triggers and what you shouldn't do. Good for you to get back on track. As for the bf, I think he needs some counseling before he tries another go at the relationship or any relationship.

@Apple1 I was feasting on tortillas (wraps and tacos), including rice. I think it might be the water weight because I woke up yesterday and dropped the 2lbs. I am not sure how I feel about us getting back together yet. I really just want him to get himself and his insecurities in check. I really do adore him and he was really instrumental and supportive of this decision (when people weren't). However, I cannot get how he acted out of my head. That is a great song lol.

@Newme17 I am happy that I could get back on track. Once I saw the 2lbs weight gain, I was like, "Oh hell no!". I immediately started planning my meal prep for the week. I was like honey bunny it is time to get back on track. I really think that he needs more time. Yes missing me and hanging out is cool and we are great friends but he really needs to get things right for himself.

At this very moment I couldn't be more proud of you. Always remember you are at the place you want to be and continue to stand strong on your feelings. You submerged yourself into completing your goals and got back on the horse. Boyfriends are like flowers they bloom every season then they wither and disappear. Whatever decisions you make just remember you didn't call it quits.

    Suggestions and Help

I am over 3 months out. So my schedule is different and I do Keto Diet for myself. My day consist of the following: Breakfast - Shake or 2 egg Whites (boiled or scrambled) with 2 pieces of turkey bacon. Or a lettuce BLT wrap (turkey bacon of course and lite mayo). Snack 1 - Turkey Salad (Romaine Lettuce, 2 oz of turkey and Slice Tomato). I also make my own salad dressing. Lunch - Stuffed green Bell pepper or diced chicken with guacamole, mozzarella cheese and some sour cream. Snack 2 - Protein Bar Dinner - Whatever was left over from Lunch lol. Snack 3 - 14 Olives and 1 pickle. I love my Olives and Pickles. My suggestion is try Pinterest. Type in "Low Carb or Keto Diet Recipes". You will find a lot of interesting recipes to try. I hope this helps. This is just a limited list. Each week is different.
  4. Before you make this decision, ask yourself these 5 questions. This is what I asked myself before I made the decision: 1) Have I truly tried everything (before WLS) to lose weight? 2) Am I considering this surgery because I think it is the easy way out? 3) Am I willing to sacrifice my current lifestyle for a better one? 4) Can I accept the pain/consequences that come with this surgery? 5) Will this truly better my life in the long run? These questions helped me make this decision. I was ready and willing. My only regret is not of knowing or doing it sooner.
  5. As long has someone else will be driving then the answer is yes. I went to Home Depot, Target, Walmart, BJ's and Petsmart within 30 minutes of being released. Granted I was uncomfortable and rode around in the scooters but I would say yes. Just make sure someone else is driving. You may still feel a little out of it due to all the pain killers they provide you with.

    Struggling to exercise

You may not be eating enough. You should be having 4-6 small meals a day. (Honestly, some days I do not eat because I am not hungry). However, you may not be getting in enough protein. If you are dead set on working out, try C4 - Pre-workout. I drink 1 scoop 30 minutes before a workout (only when I am not feeling in the mood to workout). That thing gives me energy all day

    Hospital stay

Most insurances deny the hospital stays longer than one night because it is usually not necessary. I stayed over night and went home the next morning. They will only approve it if there maybe a chance of high complications (ex. If you weigh more than 400 - 500lbs or slight heart problems). However, if complications where to occur after your surgery then they would cover it. However, they will not approve something they do not deem necessary. I hope this helps.

    Struggling with the sleeve...normal?

It is normal. The air bubbles especially. I would get them every time I ate or drank something in the first 2 weeks. You may also feel a foamy mouth when you first start eating. Also, I have foamy mouth when I eat one bite too many. I did not have diarrhea. I was constipated most of the time. I do get it now if I eat something that does not agree with my sleeve (I tried red meat recently - omg I felt like I was dying). If your really feeling like something is wrong then reach out to your Surgeon. Only you know your body and if something is off, you will know and feel it.
  9. This is normal. You have buyers remorse. You regret the decision you made because you do not feel the instant gratification you thought you would feel. The first few weeks are the hardest. Nothing comes easy and this is the hardest part of the journey you will have. I made a YouTube video in which I talked about the depression that I was feeling. Honestly, it gets better. A lot better. It just takes time. Your feeling towards food is due to your fear that it will make you sick or that you think eating will make you gain weight. I felt both those emotions. Just know you need to eat, it is essential. Do not fear food. You will only be trading in one extreme for another. The goal is to gain a healthy relationship with food. I used to live to eat. Now I eat to live. I look at food as what nutrition can I get from it. I make all kinds of recipes of my favorite foods, just low carb and calorie options. It does get better. It just takes time.
  10. I over prepared as well. I bought things I did not use. Thank goodness for return policies. My list of haves and have nots are below: 1) Blender / Purée - I did not even use it. Returned it. 2) Stocked up on Protein Shakes and Broth I liked - I could not even drink them or stomach them. I still can't. 3) Sugar Free Gatorade/Vitamin Water/Trimino - Was life for me. I was on clear liquids for 2 weeks. I had to bypass (no pun intended) the protein drink phase and go to puréed/soft foods. 4) Food Scale - You will definitely need one of these. I use mines every week when I meal prep. Best thing since I found out I can eat cheese again! 5) Chapstick - preferably the ones with natural oils. Lips get really chapped that first week. 6) Sugar Free Jello/Popsicles - I used to run them over my lips to help melt them a little. It really helps with the chapped lips. 7) Journal or Notebook - to keep track of the foods you can or cannot eat, Your inches and your weight. 8) Shower Chair - I had one so I could sit under the hot water and let us soothe my aches. 9) Hot Compress - for those nights where you get uncomfortable. 10) Two Pillows or Body Pillow - Make sure that they are extra fluffy. I could only sleep on my side so I bought a body pillow and placed my tummy on it. You will find that some awkward positions with pillows make you feel more comfortable lol. Well this is my list. Remember everyone is different. What works for some may not work for you and what did not work for them may work you. It is pretty much trail and error. Good luck!!!

If you still drink 1 shake a day...

I am backwards on mines. I have 2 boiled eggs whites 30 minutes before my workout. Then after my workout I will have a shake. Also, one of my snacks is a protein bar on workout days. You can try adding an additional meal on the days you do cross fit. On the days I work out instead of 4-6 meals, I am having 6 or 7 (depending on the type of protein I prepared). Okay

    Gastric Sleeve Regret

I am 3 months post op. I cannot take huge gulps of water. However, I can drink a lot of water straight.
  15. I was 7 days post op and it was the best day of my life lol 😂 !!

    Post-op energy level

It depends on your body. I was able to do way more by week 2. However, my energy levels are naturally really high (hyper active). Some people have horrible first month. My suggestion is schedule 3-4 weeks in advance. You would hate to do it so close and find you cannot enjoy yourself.

I'm gaining weight now now 7 weeks out

I never trust hotel or gym scales. They are not always accurate. You have to only use your scale. When I traveled, I did not weigh myself. I worked out and ate extremely healthy. When I got home....only lost 1.4lbs lol. It was muscle though. I did a lot of weight lifting and swimming that week.

    Pain

I had the same pain. I could not stomach my pain killers so I had to boss through it. However, this is very normal and is nothing to stress about. I know it hurts and it's very uncomfortable. I'm sure it makes it difficult to want to walk (I walked like I had a hunchback for the first week). My suggestion is a hot compress. This does help. I placed a seat in my shower and would sit under the warm running water to help alleviate some of the discomfort.

    Question about incision

Contact your surgeon immediately. Bruising is normal but green is not. It can be a sign of infection.

    Worried about Saggy Skin

I started toning and doing all the extra skin care at 8 weeks post op. Honestly, it is she, genetics, and how stretched the skin is. My thighs look amazing as they have gotten smaller and toned up. However, my arms, tummy, breast and back have been my problem areas.

    Feeling discouraged only day 3

This is common. I was miserable during my recovery. I could not take the protein shakes, I could barely get down water. It's only the first week and your feeling what we call is the "Buyers Remorse". Once the second week comes you will get better and each week after that gets better and better. Here are some helpful tips (These are what I used): 1) Set a timer 3-5 sips (depending on what you can handle) every 10-15 minutes. 2) Take ice in between the sips and rub it around your lips. You will get in small amounts of extra liquid but it won't make you feel sick. 3) Your body is still getting used to the lack of food. Your going to feel dizzy. Try walking around once an hour. Walk to the room door and back (do it 1-2 more times depending on how big the room is). 4) Positive mind. This is the most crucial. When I thought negatively and was upset, it effected my whole body and I would make myself sick. Try thinking about the goal at the end and how far you have come. Hold those goals and memories tight. Let them run through your body. When you do not want to walk, think about the positive, when you do not want to sip, think of the positives and you will have the strength to take your sips and to walk. These 4 tips got me through the hardest part of this journey. I hope it helps you as much as it did me.

    Protein shake

Honestly, everyone is different and how they are able to take liquids and protein shakes changes from person to person. My doctor gave me the recommended 2 shakes and 64 oz once I was two weeks post op. However, I was not able to stomach my protein shakes and they made me very sick. So my clear liquid diet lasted 2 weeks. With the second week was me getting in the 64oz water needed. I took protein shots to get in the protein. My advise is to try to get as much as you can in. If you cannot finish the rest do not force it. You will make yourself sick.

    3 week stall

It is common. However it happens to people differently. Some people stall every other week, some get the stall 3-weeks straight and Some get a stall week once a month. Myself, I have a really good week, then a okay week, then a bleh week and then nothing. I am 3 months post op.

    Pass out !

I hope you feel better. I do not know much about this particular matter. I just wanted to say feel better!!
  25. We never weigh in. It is an unspoken understanding. We also do not decision the scale. We spend our time talking about rants, issues, temptations, family and etc. To use the scale is nonexistent and we spend it getting help and know one another.
