My name is Teeara (like the crown but not spelled the same). I am Pre-Op with a surgery date of March 26th, 2017.
All my life I have been a chubby female. Between College, a failed engagement due to emotional abuse, I had gained 130 lbs in 4 years. In my teens and early years, I was an avid outdoors person. I rock climbed, I hiked, I rode bikes, I swam in lakes, I camped and I lived an adventurous life. I played sports and I was overall an athletic person, though being overweight. In truth, I carried most of the weight in my thighs through the muscle. I have an addiction to comfort food (Ice cream - although I am lactose intolerant. I was willing to take the issues that came with it. Chocolate - cakes, candy, cookies, brownies, milkshakes, fraps and the list will go on for days). I once explained to my best friend that comfort foods do not judge me for eating them, they make me feel better at that moment, they silence the stress and self-doubts and they just taste amazing.
I started my weight loss journey in April of 2014. My dad who is a diabetic is now legally blind to due diabetes. I panicked when I found out and started making life changes. I went to a Nutritionist and Dietitian. I took workout classes and increased my activity. This worked for maybe 4 months in which I lost 20 lbs and then it just stopped. I was so confused and frustrated that I gave up.
I started out with going to the gym, eating healthier and meal prepping. I also began using Weight Watchers. This worked until March 2016. At that time I got frustrated and started pushing myself harder at the gym. I ended up with a four-part fracture and three dislocated toes. The crazy thing is for 10 days I did not know it was damaged. I had surgery April 8, 2016, in which a plate and 4 screws are holding my ankle and foot together.
July of 2016, I was wondering what would be my next move in my weight loss journey. While watching an episode of my 600 lbs life, I learned about the Gastric Sleeve. I did so much research and at that point, I understood that this was what I needed. I had my first consultation that month and was completely blown away by this tool that would assist me in this journey. I have been researching and organizing everything since that first appointment. I have made it my business to know as much as possible and to be sure in my decision. I hope to succeed with this tool. This is my last hope. Below you will find my stats:
